is it enough to take off the positive side kable before a continuity test? or can i just Power Down the electical Component lets say a startermotor thats not running. To do a continuity test while cables hooked up`? of course not in paralell + and - but lets say + starter to + battry continuity in a cable is measured in series and and volts in parallel. so what is happenimg inside the meter to damage it? is it because you introduce extra voltage inline in series where there is amperage constantly flowing that mess up the metre? +Joachim Johan - never do a continuity test in a live circuit. When using this function the meter is providing voltage and current to the circuit
