I appreciate your tutorial. I am finishing upon my first raffia hat, and although I can see the hat in there, it does have a strong resemblance to a potato. Hopefully now I will be able to make it look more like a hat.
@daryacrochetlife it does, indeed, look more like a hat! Unfortunately, I realized it is a bit big on me. I don't know if I can frog it or just consider it a practice sacrifice and try it again.
Hi! So glad i found you!! Love your videos. Have a question about raffia... Many other videos use raffia from Hobbii or Perfect Yarns and viewers complain it is very hard/rough to crochet with especially if it is colored in various colors. Is your raffia softer? Will the hat or purse be more sturdy with rougher raffia? Love your video on starching the hats and using wire to hold brims. Thank you!!!!
Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words about my videos, that means a lot! I tried raffia from Hobbii and very rough raffia from Aliexpress. It's very hard to work with, but it holds shape well. I don't think it will be good for hats, but it's really nice for handbags. However, keep in mind that it's hard to crochet with, I was using a band-aid =))

Everything will look much better after steaming, so definitely give it a try!
