@@Crystan The photos are in the public domain and the police are welcome to view them along with everybody else. The photojournalist is there to capture images of an event as bystander, not be there as a police stooge
Great points, well made. It's not the job of journalists to hand over their work to police. Police should have bodycams and be capturing their own images and footage of riot situations.
Had police knock on front door once asking if I had footage of a so-called 'incident' that happened outside my house. Police have a duty to investigate and locating evidence from third partys is part of that, police will often ask anyone that may potentially have recorded anything wether they have body cam footage or not, more angles and footage is better for evidence and helps avoid the 'police have set me up the bodycam footage is lying' argument if it can be shown from multiple sources, you are allowed to refuse if its only a request however if theyve obtained a warrant for it you can no longer refuse without risking contempt of court or perverting the course of justice and they may seek to prosecute you for withholding or worse if you delete it. Great points, well made. It's not the job of journalists to hand over their work to police. Police should have bodycams and be capturing their own images and footage of riot situations.
So if journalists have evidence, they can hold it back, no problem? And then people will lament the length of investigations.
Had police knock on front door once asking if I had footage of a so-called 'incident' that happened outside my house. I told them the doorbell camera doesnt work(which it doesnt) and the signs are deterrents, I dont have the cash to install a security system. Why should I give anything to them anyway? if they would pay for a security camera set up yeah sure they can have access to it but they are busy spending public money on painting police cars rainbow colours and paying for festivals.
Absolutely, it's his job to sell the same photos to the highest bidder from the MSM
(Generally if theyve got a warrant they know, rather than hope, you had footage that can be used for evidence)
It’s not as though they needed the photos to prosecute but suppress the publication, to hide evidence of police wrongdoing
