That’s a great looking kit bash! From now on, in my head canon, the “Oberth” class ships that were deployed against the Borg in the Battle of Wolf 359 were actually mothballed Stingray class ships that Starfleet secretly kept 😉

I could see him even trying to bring back the design wholesale... Imagine a century-old failed design based on the laughingstock of Starfleet's ships making a reappearance in a combat situation, getting laughed at by the enemy... and then it unloads enough firepower to take down a Vor'cha in its first salvo.

Yay: You made a really polished version of my favorite fan kitbash!!! :D :D :D
    Boo: You called it a failure. :( :( :(
TriAngulum giveth and TriAngulum taketh away.
As notes on this design I first came across it as a kitbashed model on Facebook years ago, tho they called it the Peregrine class. It's been one of my favorites for years and years, and I like it WAY way more then the typical tactical Oberth that just has a torpedo pod. I even made my own version that has basically the same arrangement but has the OG Oberth pod additionally suspended from a compact central pylon underneath. I called it the Condor class, a planet landing warp based troop/equipment transport with gull wing doors and landing feet.
Great job on your design! It would just be nice if at least one Oberth kitbash wasn't labeled explodium as default. At this point it feels like we're bullying the class. XD

I would love to see a wing of these strafe a Romulan warbird. would love a dicast model for my bookshelf.

It reminds me a little of an apocryphal design back in the 70's and 80's. Supposedly before taking command of the Enterprise, commander Kirk was CO of a small attack ship called the Starstalker. Significantly smaller than the heavy cruisers, but with equal fire power.
I'd always imagined that Starstalker was the design that the Romulains were trying to duplicate with their bird of prey. (In a cut line of dialogue, the commander of Earth outpost 4 called it a Starfleet design.)

Presumably there was no anti-cloak treaty at this time, so why not a cloak? They had 2 by this time captured (1 from the Romulans and 1 from the Klingons). Why not try hull polarization in concert with shields for armoring? Plus they DID eventually make a ship like this ... the Defiant class once armoring was available.

I almost feel sorry for the Stingray Class. Off the top of my head, I think the design team took the Stingray's mission brief a little too literally, and tried to create a ship the same dimensions and volume, as a B'Rel class Bird of Prey, and then tried to arm it to the teeth. And that proved to be danged near impossible, given Starfleet's level of technology in general, and it's ability to miniaturize components in particular. So the entire class ended up a spectacular failure.

      @TriAngulumAudioStudios  2 месяца назад

Sorry, but you're making assumptions that are incorrect!
Firstly, there is More than Enough room for a Vertical Warp Core, if, as the video says, it was a specially modified version of that Core.
Second, your interpretation of of how unusal it is, is way off, hence why you're the only one making this claim! Though a new type of Warp Core, the Vertical Warp Core had been used for about a decade, making it neither new or unusual. And at no time did I make any statement that suggests the Vertical Warp Core was unusual, but rather that the specially designed on included in the class was just that, specially designed, my exact words...
In future, please pay better attention to what is actually being said, rather than making assumptions up in your head and trying to play them off as facts. THIS will help you understand things better, as to NOT make a similar mistake! Take care!

The Stingray already had a competition in the Columbia class. It had a cloak(until Khitomer). It could already detect romulan ships which have better cloaks. If I also remember the Columbia class is not as flimsy as an Oberth so should be better at protecting the warpcore from being one shot. Can you combine the Stingray with the Columbia class.

Uhhhhhh... Where did you get the idea the Columbia Class had the ability to cloak or could detect Romulan Cloaked Ships? None of that information is correct!

So you took a RUclipsr, like myself, who doesn't follow canon, but rather speculates on why things are a certain way, as fact? If he did or didn't say such a thing, I don't know, but either way, its completely wrong! There is nothing in Canon or Beta Canon to support those ideas! Rather the exact opposite is true, with Canon on Beta Canon clear that the Federation NEVER developed a cloaking device until much later in history!

In the words of Andreas Katsulas, "I like it." However, I think the old 22nd Century Emu Class was a better fit :P

Very nice. But it sounds like it was designed as a warship. And we all know that the Defiant Class is the first Federation Warship.

No, it's not a warship, its a destroyer/ scout... But even if it were a warship, that's fine, because it was a failure and never put in to production like the story says.

@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Sorry. I didn't mean to come of as a jerk. I was making fun of Starfleet, not you.
ALL of their ships are warships (except the Oberth and other pure science vessels). That was the point I was trying to make.

Desiging a successful ship is a lot more fun than a failure. It takes some work to make a failure's history sound reasonable.

Not sure why that is a problem, as canon shows us it isnt! See the Magee Class!

    • @timothystuedemann5390

It is just personal preference but the hump on the back covers to much of the nacelles. No look at the Oberth it doesn't have a lot blocking the nacelles however it does seem flimsy. The spine hump adds strength but covers most of the black part of the nacelles which to me are where the two nacelles need most line of sight. In canon the Magee was made for that. The Oberth nacelles were not. Compare the nacelle exposure of the Stingray to the Defiant. It would cut down on crew space but add the Excelsior second hull cutout to the top of the Oberth canoe then you could have shuttle bay out the back and another torpedo at the front or flip the nacelles to the underside and bring them forward turning it into a manta ray. The design looks good from front and above.@@TriAngulumAudioStudios

Nahhh I 100% disagree! The design is perfect as is, and shows lineage towards classes such as the Defiant! And I learned long ago you can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time! So you're definitely entitled to your own opinion, however, Im glad the majority disagrees with you and loves the design as it is! Take care!
