[ Animation-A-Day: 089 ] - The power of grids.
Today, I spent some time researching After Effects’ best practices and how to approach making a grid of animated objects. The amount of tutorials and support around the web is inspiring.
First, I learned that my previous animations were too complicated for all the wrong reasons. It was a great way to know what not to do in the future.
I discovered that the built-in effect “CC Ball Action” is perfect for creating a dynamic grid, with a twist! You can twist the layer on the X, Y, and Z axis to produce amazing results.
I also learned that to take my animation skills to the next level I need to start learning how to work with JavaScript in After Effects and take advantage of the Expressions feature. Thankfully, I already have a general understanding of JS.
I’m excited about what’s next, and this challenge is almost at the 100 mega-milestone. I will be excited to finally take a step back and reflect on what I have learned.
