I grew up in Fort St.John from the late sixties to the early eighties. Was a wonderful place to be! l still have such fond and great memories of that town!😊❤❤
I have a still photo of the Tip Top Confectionery float, dated August 1966, with my Mum (Doris Light) holding me on the mechanical horse. Thanks for sharing this film! 🙂
Well, I can't contribute anything to this, but as a lifetime resident of FSJ (born in that hospital), I sure enjoyed this. My dad, Wayne, if he were still alive, probably would have lots to tell about this film, I'm sure. His Dad, John Fehr, worked on the dam, drove truck, and built houses in town too.
My Dad, Thor Espe is playing the accordian near the end of the video. Kaye Clarke is playing the guitar. A logical guess for the other guitar player is Pete Hlushko. Thank you for sharing this video!
Yes that is my Father Peter Hlushko playing with Thor Espe, Hans must have been working the Montney store that day:) The Espe orchestra played some great dances back in the day.
@@michaelhlushko3275 Hi Mike😃👋 I remember Marcy she was a good friend of Mums,l saw the pictures of your most recent reunion with Chris and all his buddies from Fort St. John.
I also lived in FSJ and slid down that hill many times. Some years later worked in that beautiful new hospital that underwent many renovations before it was replaced.
6:42 toboggan hill, was the road to my great grandfathers farm at that time. Road 271 off the Alaska hwy. top of the hill was looking towards the highway
Although I wasn’t born until 1972 ( at the new hospital, orange building shown during the parade) I do remember the “FSJ Land of the New Totems” entrance sign. The ferry is probably the Clayhurst Ferry, replaced by a bridge in the 90’s? The industry show and the working drilling rig would have been quite an expense to set up, but the oil patch and those involved have always been generous. I believe the rig was Brinkerhoff Drilling Co, but I couldn’t make out the number on the side of the doghouse.
🤗👋 l have such good memories growing up in F.S.J. Do you remember the trucking companies Gibsons Transport,Pe Ben, and Totran,my father managed those back in the day.
Francois that is not a small River it was the Peace River. Small fact more water runs through the peace than the rest of the rivers in Alberta combined!
Hey Francois, thank you for preserving/digitizing all this historic footage. How much do you charge to convert old footage to digital? What film types can you convert? Thanks

In the late 60s my father,Bill Blandford would offer his trucks from Gibsons Transport for the parade trucks!
I was a little off, it was the early 70s.🤗

Defiantly the clayhurst ferry and there was some short footage of the construction of the w.a.c Bennet dam @Hudson Hope.

The ferry was in clayhurst BC. My uncle ran it tell 1991 when it was replaced by the new bridge.
Hey Matt,
I still remember riding on it as a kid, hauling cows to Dawson Creek, BC Pattersons Auction Mart.

My brother Colin was born in the same hospital same year in June,
3:30 I love doors that open to nowhere! It's one of my favorite things!
Wasn't that Peter Frankiew as mayor during that time (dignitaries unveiling the old (new) FSJ sign at 12:40 & 13:02
Hi,from a 21 year resident of F.SJ. 1967-1983.😀👋
