El Paso has always had a Special place in my heart, I was stationed at Ft. Bliss for 2 years in the late 90's and can honestly say out of all the places I was stationed at (5 in total) El Paso was my fravote.

So are we, actually we are in about 3 years. We live in south Jersey about, 10 minutes from Philadelphia and we fucking hate it here anymore
I moved to New Jersey for a job opportunity. Could not stand New Jersey to be honest, no offense. I luckily found a job on my field in El Paso and currently building my house here! 10/10 would recommend

El Paso, needs to improve in many areas. The people have changed after the Walmart shooting, and Covid-19, there is a somber, distant attitude now. There are a lot of fast food eateries and if you’re looking for opportunities, well jobs in this area are available. Cost of living is high, and home taxes are higher than most places. It is sad, we need to travel to New Mexico, in order to see something beautiful or enjoy the weekend, most people here go out to eat to enjoy the weekend. The weather lends itself for outdoor fun, however, the city and county have not worked together to come up with some stunning entertainment or fun for everyone. The possibilities for El Paso to become a wonderful place to enjoy are enormous, but instead we only have small parks, few entertainment, and sadly all parks lack the most fundamental basics for people enjoyment, bathrooms, and water fountains. People need to come together and push city leaders, and the mayor to do more, sadly, there are no movers or shakers here, to see improvements.
Definitely use you when we move to El Paso from Denver CO.
We love it we visit all the time. We have family in Ciudad Juarez. And love the big contrast of 2 different countries all at the same spot. Denver is getting to crowded and expensive.

Are homes with pools in El Paso affordable? I wonder..
Pre-COVID, they were very affordable, but like all other real estate there, not so much now. Probably still more affordable than larger cities in Texas, though.
We might be moving out there next year from Austin, buddy. We'll definitely be looking for a house so we'll be in touch. :)
If I transfer from the USPS will I be able to rent a decent house & still have money left over to have fun?
I’m paying $475.00 for a one bedroom townhouse in Mason City Iowa. But the winters here can be brutal. I want to be able to go outside without my face burning from the -45!
You’ll definitely be able to avoid freezing your face off but a decent apartment might run you closer to 500-600.

What do you think of using Juarez International Airport on the regular to get better flight prices? I guess if you're traveling during the day it is a viable option.
My wife and I do that whenever it's cheaper. Which it can be sometimes but not always. Also an airliner there had 2 USD beers vs anywhere here in the US.

I just found your channel looking for info about El Paso, I be there for a few days to work in Fort bliss . I would like to check a few options, houses there are pretty affordable ( investment property) . I’m leaving Lousiana and driving there to work. I will have 4 days off between 1st and second phase of my job. I will try to call you on my day off .

I’m in a weird place, I’ve lived In ep my whole life since I was 5, my dad passed away very recently, so we can’t afford to live here anymore, my mom is going to Pennsylvania, and I supposed I have a choice to make wether to stay here or move to rural nowhere Pennsylvania
So sorry about your Dad's passing. Follow your heart and pray about it too. Then decide if you want to go to Pennsylvania or stay here.

hi john, i have been following you for awhile. my wife and i where going to come down there this spring but now it looks like early fall. we spoke with my wifes aunt, she lived in el paso many years ago. her first complaint was the smell of raw sewage in the air. we researched it and there are areas that have sewage plants and the smell can get pretty bad. since you have lived there. have you experienced this? thanks!!
Hmmm...I have not experienced this. What areas of town exactly?
@@LivingInElPasoTexas i have heard theres a couple of sewage plants. One on the westside and the other on the eastside. It all depends on the wind direction some folks where saying. Thanks for your reply!
I've lived here all my life and visit every area in El Paso and have never smelled anything like that.

Hi I am recently retired and am very much interested in relocating to El Paso from the northeast . Would like to know average electric bill for a 3 bedroom 2 bath house around 1800 square feet in the hot part of the year . Also would like a kitchen with a gas stove not electric if this feature is widely available . Am looking at relocating in about 6 months after the summer

I grew up in El Paso back in the 60's.
Today, The cost of an average 3/2 home there is about $80 - $150 dollars monthly throughout the year.
Texas knows how provide good affordable gas, water, waste costs and passes it on to the consumer. The cost of living in El Paso is quite impressive. Hope this helps!
I agree with David. My electric bill in the summer can get up to $150 - 175 and my home is a 4/2 with about 2,000 SF. The majority of stoves in El Paso are gas. Shoot me an email at john@penaelpaso.com and we would love to help you find a great home here!
Are you willing to pay 5K in taxes?
The highest electric bill I paid was $170 with refrigerated AC for a 3/2 single house. One month, I even paid $60. I pay about $5500 for property tax but I try to comfort myself with no state tax. If you are a morning person, it is great here. I get all the running around done in the sunny and cooler mornings. And stay inside during the hot afternoons. Best wishes.
Get a house outside of El Paso city limits and your taxes will be lower.
El paso is a good city to live but the taxes of houses are going high!
I was born and raised in El Paso. Its great place but the taxes are becoming a huge problem, specially if you are pn a fixed income. With a population of more than 800,000, El Paso County’s average effective property tax rate is 2.22%. While the median home value is $116,600, which is lower than the national average, the average homeowner pays hundreds of dollars more than the typical American - a perfect example of Texas’ high property taxes.
