- This is an early audio rehearsal of the Rupert Holmes/Paul Williams song "Everything", with alternate lyrics ("speak Japanese..."). It was possibly recorded in late 1975 or early 1976. For the video I used the first issue of the fan magazine Barbra, edited by James Spada among other well-know Streisand fans. The full issue was printed in black and white.
I hope you enjoy this rarity, which sound I tried to improve the best I could.
As a singer, when learning a new song it takes some times 10 or more times to get it right. You could tell this “take” was the first or second time because she hums the last few lyric trying to get the rhythm and tone and Lyrics right…I have had a vocal coach who made me hum the entire song several times before putting the lyrics to it…then sing it with lyrics several more times.
So this was a naked rehearsal striped down and raw…i give her an A+ on this one and look what the final cut produced!!!
Wow, Gustavo! Thank you so much. Did you break into Barbra's vault to get this for us? This rehearsal track has been enjoyed and, your kindness has been very much appreciated.
Seeing the mag along with this recording is priceless!
Never heard this one either. Remarkable. Any of these rare tracks are treasures.
Thank you! I've actually never heard this!
Wow nice 👍💗 thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing this, Gustavo! I so enjoy glimpses like this, into the artistic process. And speaking of Barbra Quarterly, in its day, it was truly EVERYTHING.
I saw that magazine as a teen when it was first published. Watching this I remembered every page! 🥰
Interesting. People always bitch about Barbra's perfectionism, but she benefits from it. She sounds better w full instrumentation, the tones & overtones swirling around her own. Some of the lyrics may be preferable to the final recording...
I kept searching and listening for her singing it in Japanese! 🤪 LOL! What a great find! Thank you for sharing it with us, Gustavo❣️
Wonderful. Thanks 🙏 very much for sharing this rehearsal performance with us. 💕🤗
Love it, love it, love it! Thank you
Thank you Gustavo, you made a home run with this!
Definitely a rehearsal take...thanks for sharing.
That purity of mid-1970s voice is so special. Thanks for sharing, Gus!
She sounds very nasal to me.
@@zevnikpitched up audio.
And she got it.
Muchas gracias, Gustavo.
Thank you very much 🙏💙❤

It is interesting to have a glimpse into the process.
You rock Gustavo !!!!
Linda essa música e todas as suas fotos😍
I once heard the tape of Barbra recording "The Main Event" in the studio, with multiple stops and starts, I think it was posted by Seth Rudetsky(?), but I can no longer find it. Do you have this?
Kudos to Rupert Holmes!
Where can I get this book 📚📚 magazine??
Is this Barbara?
Next time u do a video feature Just Like Buttah . . .if u need any copies, let me know and I ll send them to you
‼️♥️
The lyrics are different
It is a very odd sound...kind of nasaly...is that really Barbra......
It's horrible. It's like somebody who impersonates BS. It's not her.
Thanks I thought I was crazy...
B used to record things on cassette tape so she could practice and make changes. It's her voice alright, the cassette sounds like it's running a little fast. I remember practicing in my friend's kitchen for their wedding. And their little niece said it was good. After singing in the church with amazing acoustics and mic, the little girl came up to me after the performance and said "Wow, you didn't sing like that in the kitchen!" Haha! B gets a ton of technical support when performing.
It's her but do you really think these old recorder and devices were good + it's obviously pitched up a notch or two due either to alteration or lack of quality of the material, that's all.
