Getting hold of a new bike in 2021 will be a challenge, not only because of Covid19 but also Brexit delays not to mention worldwide supply shortages. In spite of everything I've ordered a Ribble SL Endurance with an integrated cockpit (following the trend here) and full Ultegra components. Should be here by April and just can't wait plus hopefully some warmer weather (would be nice 😊). Great work and I'm really enjoying the channel as I've just got back into cycling at 65.
Honestly, the industry should sort out their current supply issues before marketing and selling their next models. For most brands, getting a new bike requires a wait until 2022.
Super excited to hear about the Vamoots RCS. Hoping to treat myself to a super nice bike in the next few years. This may be the one that covers my road and gravel needs!
when I look at these latest aero frames and the amount of money they cost as a complete build, it does leave me scratching my head. It's clear these latest cutting edge aero bikes have a shelf life before the next latest and greatest frame comes along. Then, the must have brigade jump all over it. I have now reached the opinion it's better to get something custom made which you can keep and enjoy. Something from Festka , Legend, Argonaut or Sarto would fit the bill perfectly .
Great roundup of the new bikes David. My Cannondale Synapse is still going strong after three years - no issues at all and I'm very happy with the set up I have to cope with the hilly rural roads of north Northumberland.
Very cool....I am very envious...you get ride and test some pretty incredible machine....keep up the great work, I cannot wait to see all the latest reviews...cheers.
Looking forward to the Cervelo Caledonia ! Got the aero 5 model with Force Etap coming for myself. Price has gone up £1000 from last year! Good job I am in the trade and not paying the RRP!!!
Please consider a UK head to head with Ribble Endurance v Dolan Tuono. All this talk of aero... many club riders want a light(est) weight, endurance geometry, pot hole absorbing bike with options from 105 to Di2 or equivalents. Thanks in advance and keep up your great reviews.
that, classic mtb vs gravel bike that you are curating.. will be very good! Also the internal cable solutions.. can now make or break the decision of a new bike/frame. Your opinion on frame materials as boutique bikes (steel, Ti, alu, 3D carbon) vs main stream vs open mold bikes would make an interesting video in my view. Keep up the good job!
I Got the Aeroad CFR DI2/ARC wheels from DT swiss. Holy smokes - all is top notch and specs are through the roof. Have also got the tubeless gt5000 from Conti. It’s a blast.
i highly recommend the Caledonia-5 from Cervelo if you're looking for a mix of endurance, comfort and aero qualities with race-responsive characteristics.
Getting a Bianchi Infinito w/SRAM eTap in about a month or so (it's on a boat at the moment, afaik). Not a new release, but it's been over a decade since my last new bike, so I'm ready!
I used to have a Scott Addict 2012 and loved it. More recently i ride a BMC Teammachine 2019 and love it even more. I’m looking out for a Orbea review as i think they make beautiful bikes. However, i am happy with my BMC. It still ticks all the boxes for me.
I love what you do. I would love to see you review a Basso bike (the astra would be great as I saw nobody did it) or the titanium bike from Ribble. Thank you for your content :)
Hi Dave, as always many thanks for the review, very interesting indeed. Wondered if you would provide me with a short list of say 3 bikes based on the following. I currently ride a 3 year old Roubaix expert di2 and would like to upgrade. Requirements are: >Endurance relaxed geometry > Di2 ultegra or similar >gearing needs to be 1 to 1 >28 mm tyres >Light so presumably full carbon >Price up to £10k Cheers
How about the new version of the Roubaix? Cervelo Caledonia looks interesting too. The Domane is impressive if a bit weighty. Giant Defy gets you a lot of bike for the money. I would also throw the Open Mind into the mix for something a little different. Those of straight off the top of my head. Let me know what you think
@@cochise6345 I had sort of decided to go for an S Works Roubaix. Unfortunately all the retailers are telling me that they are unable to get stock! I can't even get hold of a size 61 frame to enable me to self build. So for the moment I have decided to stick with my Roubaix expert until the current supply situation eases. Cheers for now
I've ordered a Dolan Ares(3rd generation), based upon my love of the 1st generation, that I currently ride. It looks like it has the same "aero" updating as many other bikes. And if it is all that it looks to be, it will be a steal. At least that's what I'm hoping!
Always appreciate ur view on bikes, much more realistic and truthful view. Any chance to review some non famous brands like cube, BH, Time, Look, eddy merks ... these brands are quite absent from all major review sites but maybe worth a look?
Thanks and yes definitely interested in doing less well known brands where possible. It’s a case of what I can get hold of at the moment as you can probably imagine
The seat post issue with the Aeroad is causing big debate in the Canyon community, will be interesting to see how you find it. Some owners are reporting damage after only a couple of rides. Some of the after sales "help" seems questionable too.
Yes. It's a true concern from me as a buyer. Some frinds with the same model is thinking of cancel the order. The fix that has been proposed so far is not a very good fix. It's a hack at most. The seatpost is not useable after 1000km. Even people riding in a home trainer has reported issues with the seatpost. But no communication from Canyon. My bike is no been delivered on time due to this issue that I've found out be contacting thier support. I had no idea about this problem. And then support told be that my bike is delayed infefinatly due to the seatpost issue. Thier "fix" is a paste and somekind of seal. But the problem seems to be that the post has a "rubbing" issue that works as a sandpaper inside the frame.
Interesting to see this many aero (and aero-ish) bikes back to back. So it is possible to make integrated cables with aero spacer/stem/bar look good after all!
Would love to see a review of the Decathlon brand Van Rysel Ultra CF...there's no video reviews at all on these. Huge spec for the money...but what's the downside?
