Hi RMR, glad you are excited about growing using Kratky, its pretty cool to see it growing indoors. You can start with Basil and Parsley, they grow fast and easily. Then move on to lettuce, and enjoy!
Thank you so much for showing this. You are a very good person who shows it in very detail and everything that needed to know from beginning to the ending of the process. God Bless you for your good heart.
Great process and explanation. I home school my boys in Thailand and want to get them stated with hydroponics as a side project. Thanks for the excellent instruction.

The kitchen hydroponics system was so successful that I had to move the cucumber plant to its own pot or its giant leaves would have stolen the light from all other plants in there :-) Thanks again and keep up the good work, happy gardening!

Hello I asked question in your previous video but i got answer from this video. I have one more question from where can I buy vegetable and fruiyd seeds Pls tell me Thanks 🙏
hi i just have some questions regarding hydroponic : 1. if indoor how many hours a day of artificial light does the plants need? 24 hours? 2. if outside is it ok for your plants to get rained on? thank you hope you can answer my questions
Indoors: For leafy greens approx. 10 hours is fine. For flowering plants they may need more than that. I only just started growing lettuce under lights but I can't speak to how much light flowering plants will need. Perhaps someone else can answer this question. Outdoors: If the rain gets into the containers you're using, it will dilute the solution and/or drown the air roots. If you have an awning or other cover that will prevent rain from getting into the reservoir yet still allow the plants to get light, then growing outdoors is fine. Just make sure that the sun can't shine into where the water and roots are as it will cause algae to grow. If you're using a mason jar, or other see-through container, cover the jar with aluminum foil. That will keep the light out. Good luck! Oh, one more thing I just learned: if you use organic fertilizer in your outdoor Kratky containers check your reservoirs frequently to make sure the water remains clean and clear. Sometimes organic fertilizers contain things that might ferment in a warm reservoir. I noticed that my tomatoes in Kratky containers outside weren't doing well and then saw a video by Dr. Kratky that mentioned the bit about the organic fertilizer. Sure enough the reservoirs were brown and smelly. I had to completely take apart the containers, dump the contents, wash and sanitize the containers and it was a chore. I was able to cut off the sick roots and rinse off the remaining roots that were white and healthy. I refilled the reservoir and used chemical fertilizer instead--refilling so the water was just touching the white roots . The transformation was immediate for one plant and overnight for the other. So watch for organic nutrients outside where it's hotter. I never had a problem indoors so it didn't occur to me that it wouldn't be okay outside.

I just put duct tape on the outside of the jar to keep light out. basil is on its the second year and been cut a few times already ... the main stem is black and woody looking but still has awsome life coming from it! now I'm thinking of trying other herbs may be on/in tote container of some kind ... Thank you for such a wonderful explanation. Could you please tell us how many days on an average it takes for lettuce to grow to a sapling that could ve transferable? Do you ph your water? If I don’t ph my water, will I still yield good results? Do you ph your water with Foxfarm food? Or just feed it to your plants? Thanks, love your videos!
Great question Science.....I used to test my water when I first started out.....I got lazy on that :( but since I am having good results I think I'm okay. If you are not growing consistently and your plants are not thriving, then PH could definitely be the culprit. I have a test kit I bought off amazon with the ph up and ph down but rarely use it.
My seeds sprouted but the roots couldn't make it through the rock wool. Do you need to poke holes in it or loosen it up or something? They grow tall with no secondary leaves then keeled over and died. Ouch. Otherwise, great video and thanks for sharing!
I grew some nice tomato and lettuce outdoors. Never changed the solution, just checked the water level. Tomato ran dry. Plenty of minerals in one measure. Gets stronger as water level decreases, so balances out. Kratky was a scientist after all.
Hi Kinky I grow the seedlings in rockwool and I use various grow lights, some LED, some fluorescent, also lots of light from the skylights in my grow area.

You have clear jars, do you block from light?
Thank you for a very informative video
I have used this method for 3 years. It works like a charm. I wish she had mentioned the size of the jar. 16 or 32 oz?
Hi Judy.
How often you change the water and add nutrients ?
I grew some nice tomato and lettuce outdoors. Never changed the solution, just checked the water level. Tomato ran dry. Plenty of minerals in one measure. Gets stronger as water level decreases, so balances out. Kratky was a scientist after all.
Hi.. nice video. Are you keeping cucumber and tomato plants indoors? Can we keep indoor?
If I am using airpumps do I leave the same of space ,when y are not using a air pump ,or i can leave less space for roots when I put them in my tote
Thank you for the video. Don't you get algal growth in the water since they are transparent?
Hello. What was the setup for getting the seedlings to grow? Any grow lights used? Any condition requirements?
Hi Kinky I grow the seedlings in rockwool and I use various grow lights, some LED, some fluorescent, also lots of light from the skylights in my grow area.
Tikki O. Thank you!
