Still, it's not always fun eating competitively, and regardless I wanted to improve on my 4th place finish at my MLE debut in February's Croqueta World Championships, so I was aiming to take at least 3rd place, a trophy and the $500 dollar prize in this event!

It's not necessarily that it's cheap. Louisiana seafood for the most part is of excellent quality but the oyster farms are right at the Delta and get polluted by the tons of crap that gets washed down the Mississippi River.
Cheap seafood my ass. Those oysters are from Acme Oyster house which is a very famous restaurant in New Orleans that serves very fresh gulf seafood. Place has been featured many times on tv shows.
i think they're pretty expensive to be fair, but i have an iron stomach anyway, think i got food poisoning once years ago that's about it lol

What I learned about shell fish of any kind is that the colder the water they come from the better they taste. I just watched this and all I can say is OMG … I love oysters but there is no way I could scarf them down like that … you all are beast mode.
Full respect mate. I ate oysters when i was younger but as I've aged I can't even look at them now.
