At 7:49, option B is correct. Correct me if I'm wrong.
You are right.
(A) "had been operating at a loss in the 1990s, it had become profitable in 2006, and would continue"
Incorrect because it redundantly uses past perfect "had become" where simple past "became" is sufficient.
(B) "had been operating at a loss in the 1990s, it became profitable in 2006, and would continue"
Correct because it uses past perfect for the earlier action, simple past for the sequential action, and "would continue" for future in the past.
at 7:14 it ws sid that bothe the sentences are same but according to the concept of "Past Tense Conundrum" it was mentioned that when the duration of the action is defined in the sentence we should use only simple past tense!! Please clear my doubt sir!!
Same doubt!
Same doubt
Same doubt!
indirect speech, that's why it is correct
Since 1990 and 1995, you said to treat them as Past present, now you are not making sense saying it's present. kindly explain
Sir, but you said, whenever there is a time reference we should use simple form of tense isn't it? Then how in the spokesperson question a is the correct option?
mila iska jawab?
Chk gmat club explanation.
D is correct
@@aamenayusuf5169 where to find this exact question?
What I think that the concepts he taught to us and the questions he is solving are totally mismatch.
13:32 how can we use 'conducted' as there is no duration of time given.
sir, became is in past tense. and you have told that it is in present tense.[ the spokeswoman in the.........]
exactly ..
Why bro
Sir tell us wrong
Hey bro....v1- become
V2 -became and V3 is become... that's why
"it became" (7:28) this is in present tense?? pls someone clarify what is he trying to say here.
the videos are actually extremely helpful with all the intricacies of the grammar... I'm extremely thankful to u fr ths
Some people are getting confusing in duration and become'became
I recommend them to reread the sentence 5-6 times observe the structure and understand the meaning in your native language.
The correct answer is no doubt A
A)had been operating at a loss in the 1990s, it had become profitable in 2006, and would continue...
It's in past perfect, since the SW announced - already in the past, and she describes something that happened before she announced.Would continue - perfectly fine to describe a future event in the past.
Why in the Egyptians questions 'that' can't be used? For 'it', doesn't there needs to be a comma?
last year and last summer aren't the referring to the same year, so it refers an ongoing action when another action already happened (google awarded)
so present continuous tense should be there. v + ing.
how became is past in 7:35 of the lecture .....i could not understand?
Sir in 13:30 seconds how can be the answer is d because the sentence shows that it is in passive voice, but in that sentence conducted by is not a passive voice it should be were conducted and how can we put present verb "have" in the past sentence
7:45 i feel its option b
11:18 When the last part of the sentence is in past indefinite then the first part will always be in past perfect.
At7:30 why option with "had" is the answer, because sentence with time duration takes only simple past tense.
Very bad lecture
At 8:06 question how to understand both incidents are from past
Sir, at 7:35 u said became is "Present".
Can u pls explain that question once
I think both the options are correct. if we assume "become" as a linking verb then option A is correct. while assuming "become" as a Main verb option B is correct. Become can be assume linking as well as a main verb
Became is past tense
doubt : at 7:40 answer maybe B
can i get the PPT use used ?, if yes please say that , ill mail you and you guys can sent that via email
Sir can you just not eliminate the option and stick to the definitions you have given in the lectures to solve the problems, the videos are creating a lot of confusions among students
thank you
Quant and LRDI are so easy compared to this.
13:20 can someone explain why did we eliminate options A and E?
"As there is no duration so we eliminate option A and E" .isn't established mentioned in every sentence?
3:13 suggest should be followed by ing form of verb right??? and not infinitives?
"The answer is option (c). ' suggest ' should be followed by an '-ing' form of verb. Therefore we can only consider option (b) and (c). The correct usage is
'incidence' and not 'incidents' of piracy- (a) beginning the sentence with 'to' is instantly eliminated-"
this is the answer i found on google not very satisfied but it seems
correct.
at 12:40 can someone explain why we wont consider "that". I know sir explained it but I didnt understand
That is used when there are two nouns.here "that" refers to campaign.
the spokeswoman is also single noun then why 'that' is used
can someone please tell the correct answer of the spokeswoman question?
Option B.
Answer is A , check GMAT club explanation"
This question concerns sequence of tenses. The first verb, to operate, refers to a past event (in the 1990s), so that should be past perfect in indirect speech. This is correct in (A) - (C). The second verb, to become profitable, is also in the past (2006), so this also should be past perfect in indirect speech: only (A) has this correct. The final event, to continue to yield, refers to the future, so this should be the hypothetical future, "would continue to yield", which (A) & (B) & (D) have correct. All three verbs should remain in parallel: it is not correct to change some to participles, as (C) & (E) do.
"
The only possible answer is (A).
@@ajmalibrahimi587 I think both the options are correct. if we assume "become" as a linking verb then option A is correct. while assuming "become" as a Main verb option B is correct. Become can be assume linking as well as a main verb
