That high voltage segment was cool. Almost took me back to the 90s, just as much as these games. Haven't seen these games for a long time and they are really interesting platformers.
This was great. I loved the fake 'high voltage screaming action' commercial. Especially the sunglasses.Perfect. Also the avengers style bit after the end (eating the dessert) was a pretty good touch. Also, the game looks interesting! Never really heard much about it before. Thank you!!
i've always appreciated the hard work and production value on your videos, but the latter videos are simply amazing! Try's segment on the japanese commercial was pure editing delight, great stuff, guys!
Great job as always. I was finally able to pick up part 1 and part 2 of these games. Part 2 was a little pricey but I found one with a bad label for a decent price, cleaned it up and put on a reproduction label and now it looks good as new. Speaking of rentals, I could tell it used to be a Block Buster Video rental game. In these modern times I appreciate traditional platformers more and more and best of all I am now able to share these games with my teenage daughter and she loves them. Thanks again!
The Chameleon Twist games on the Nintendo 64 looks fun and interesting. I haven't played these games but I hope someday we get more fun and unique games like It. Also Japan System Supply cat intro is amazing and I always loved that about their company. Cool video. ^_^
I'd always wondered about the first game, but never had the opportunity to play it; thanks for showing this to us! I'd also never known about the second one, so that was interesting, as well.
man, you guys are awesome for covering this game. amazing hidden gem with great music. haha, remember when my parents got my siblings and I this from blockbuster cause they thought it was a Yoshi character. wasn't disappointed. wish they would make a smaller budget sequel to this
Can we please have the "High Voltage Screaming Action" shot in every video? That and the cupcake were pretty funny. This game was a blockbuster rental for me as well. Never knew about the sequel.
I actually started with CT2 as a kid and years later picked up the original after recalling playing it at a friend’s house (after he rented it no less). One of the main reasons I favor the original is that it has a multiplayer mode. This is one of few instances a series initially offered multiplayer but dropped it in a sequel.
Great job on the video! Seriously that looked really good, and I liked your thoughts about platfomer vs. 3D platformer, it got me thinking. Thanks for taking all the time/effort to make these videos and for sharing them. Can't wait to see what's next.
I imagine Chameleon Twist to be the closest thing to a 3D Yoshi Game, granted the Chameleons don’t lay eggs to throw or carry a baby they have to escort to the goal, but these games really show what it could have been like if Yoshi could utilize his tongue to grab ledges and poles to get to places.
This actually looks like a lot of fun, I like what they did with the tongue in the sequel. I need to find a copy, I surprisingly haven't seen it out in the wild any (and I'm one who is going for a complete N64 collection).
Playtonic themselves confirmed that this series was the inspiration for Yooka. Laylee was because the bird idea was already taken, and there aren't that many friendly bats in gaming.
Banjo-Kazooie might be focused more on exploration but I think that's what makes 3D platformers cool. the 3D environment affords users to roam around easier
You missed a good strong point of the first game, the multiplayer... My friends and I played hours upon hours of VS mode. Really fun with 4 players who are fairly good at the game. Otherwise, solid video and I'm happy to see these as I always try and recommend the first to people and they never know what I'm talking about.
[Try4ce] Ha, I knew someone would get me for not covering the multiplayer. :) I actually did record a little bit of multiplayer with a friend, but I just couldn't find a way to work it into the script without breaking the flow. I also cut out a section about the power-up system in the second game, because there's just absolutely nothing interesting to say about it... and sometimes the result can even slow you down, so I just avoided the stars altogether.
Marc, it's a ok. The video quality more then speaks for itself as does the coverage of the games at all considering people overlook them constantly. Thanks for putting out amazing quality content and the only live stream I actually watch other then Pete Dorr lol.
Woooow, the lego pieces level look like a percursor to some Mario galaxy levels, and also, did anybody else noticed how the falmes eyes and eye brows are equal to angry birds main character? 😶
Good ep. Try4ce. Been wondering what your specific scaler settings are for your N64 footage. It has a very unique look compared to other consoles that I find desirable.
On the topic of the tongue being under-utilized, it really seems like a mechanic that Treasure would have done well a lot like Mischief Makers or Silhouette Mirage.
[Try4ce] Yeah, it totally seems like a Treasure sort of idea. I feel like if only they'd had time to get established, Japan System Supply coulda made name for themselves.
Hello, Try4ce! You`re using the Ultra HDMI mod just for the recording? Because I can see you playing on a CRT. lol How do you connect your N64 to your CRT? Thanks and congratulations for your channel!
[Try4ce] Yep! I actually played the game on my HDTV with Ultra HDMI when I did the recordings. The game on the CRT on my "set" is actually just for show, as are some of the off-screen shots... I got those separately. There, it was connected with S-video. However, on my main setup, where I have my HDTV and PVM, I do have it connected to the HDTV as well as the PVM simultaneously. Since my N64 is an early model, which can use the simple RGB mod, it's not in the way of the Ultra HDMI. So I actually have RGB and HDMI output at the same time, and it's very convenient! I believe it may be possible to do Ultra HDMI with the Tim Worthington RGB mod (required for all but the earliest consoles), but I've heard it would be very difficult to do.
Great video ;) I like these two games, i was curious about them as a child. And i have a question, why all of your games and consoles looks so "new"? Are they in a really good condition, or is it just the definition of your camera ?
[Try4ce] Well, a lot of them are my original consoles and games, so I've kept them in good shape. But for used stuff, I generally try to buy things that are in nice condition. A few of my used games are pretty gross, though. If anything, my camera might show the flaws better than my own eyes!
I don't know... I prefer these games where we have like, 3 to 6 hours of fun than a long lasting repetiitive boring cinemtic...ish blockbuster of today! We could, like you said, get those for a weekend and just finish the whole thing. Now we need days and days with the same game, and off course, for some of them, like Breath of the Wild it is great, but for other ones...
HIGHER VOLTAGE SCREAMING ACTION in Chameleon Twist 3 for PS5! There is real high voltage screaming action in this game cause ps5 also HIGH VOLTAGE SCREAMING ACTION in DualShock 5 controller
Good review, by the way check out chameleon Twist 1 on the cutting room floor, the devs had more dev time so it has more content. There is also a fully translated english patch of the japanese version with error corrections while keeping the games tone. tcrf.net/Chameleon_Twist
Ya, it doesn't look like this company has made much since then, if it's still in business: www.gamefaqs.com/company/96691-japan-system-supply BTW, I've noticed a certain box behind your chair, looks like it found a good place :)
Awesome faux commercial at 6:41 and generally good episode! :)
That high voltage segment was cool. Almost took me back to the 90s, just as much as these games. Haven't seen these games for a long time and they are really interesting platformers.

I'm a huge fan of Chameleon Twist 1 and 2, especially the music! I'm glad someone decided to talk about 'em. :)
Awesome games, quite easy when you know how but still very very fun games
NextdoorGamer I'll be back soon enough! :-)
HIGH VOLTAGE SCREAMING ACTION
It's awesome to see these two hidden N64 gems getting some time in the spotlight!! Great video as always guys!!
InstaBlaster
They look interesting I might have to play these I have seen them a few times but never really knew how they played.
i've always appreciated the hard work and production value on your videos, but the latter videos are simply amazing! Try's segment on the japanese commercial was pure editing delight, great stuff, guys!

The next commercial homebrew should carry the "High Voltage Screaming Action" label. ;)
That Japan System Supply logo is just adorable!
I have like half the n64 collection and I've never heard of these. I think im gonna pick them up next time i see them

One of my favorite games on the system ever. Had so much fun as a kid with these titles.
Can we please have the "High Voltage Screaming Action" shot in every video? That and the cupcake were pretty funny. This game was a blockbuster rental for me as well. Never knew about the sequel.
Why don't you have like 20 Million subscribers already xD This is top notch!
wow, these games look really cool. can't wait to play them when I get my everdrive 64
I'm new to the channel and never heard of these games before. They look AWESOME. Thanks for the video, dude, I'll look for them asap
"Good use of a tongue in a platforming game" okay
Ive been looking at these two games..but could not made up my mind, until now - thanks! :)
I actually started with CT2 as a kid and years later picked up the original after recalling playing it at a friend’s house (after he rented it no less). One of the main reasons I favor the original is that it has a multiplayer mode. This is one of few instances a series initially offered multiplayer but dropped it in a sequel.
I remember renting both at blockbuster as a kid. And my sister got my the first game in the series a few years ago as a gift
Japan System Supply also developed a Game Boy Color fighting game entitled "Power Quest".It was also published in the USA by SunSoft.
Yeah I really like both these games, and that Hamburger boss always cracked me up! He's right up there with the Great Mighty Poo!
Great job on the video! Seriously that looked really good, and I liked your thoughts about platfomer vs. 3D platformer, it got me thinking. Thanks for taking all the time/effort to make these videos and for sharing them. Can't wait to see what's next.

This is the most underrated video game channel. Maybe a bit niche these days, but whatever. More fun for me. 🤓
Chameleon twist was the game my parents got with the n64 they gave my sister and I for Christmas.
This actually looks like a lot of fun, I like what they did with the tongue in the sequel. I need to find a copy, I surprisingly haven't seen it out in the wild any (and I'm one who is going for a complete N64 collection).
I saw the Chameleon.. then the backpack.. then the bloody bats! Yooka laylee inspiration for sure
Playtonic themselves confirmed that this series was the inspiration for Yooka. Laylee was because the bird idea was already taken, and there aren't that many friendly bats in gaming.
Thanks for the cupcake action at the end, Try.
Many good memories with Chameleon Twist 2
Banjo-Kazooie might be focused more on exploration but I think that's what makes 3D platformers cool. the 3D environment affords users to roam around easier
a couple of hidden gems for the N64
I'm going to seek these games out! Thanks for the recommendation.
watched for the UltraHDMI captured footage :) I can spot those razor sharp pixels a mile away!!!
I love ending skits, little gags etc. Think we can get some in an MLiG touch?
Rented both from blockbuster when I was a kid. really enjoyed them.
i love both chameleon twist great games, great video
"one of the best-looking hamburgers I've ever seen in a video game"
legit lol'd at this line
Chameleon Twist 2 had a wonderful soundtrack.
6:46 HIGH VOLTAGE SCREAMING ACTION, CHAMELEON TWIST 2!!!
Good video, I never heard of these games before.
Love this game. Looks great via advisor on my EDTV 480P plasma
I like the high voltage skit
I used to rent this game from the video store, was good at the time.
I had never heard of these games, they look nice!

This guy gives Gene Simmons a run for his money.
Looks fun. Will probably buy it if I can find it for cheap :)
Chameleon Twist 2 is one of the most underrated N64 titles, easily.
aleckermit
But also is one of the best N64 games.
I would like to see kind of game like this today, not only graphic performance
This game looks really fun!
Guys I really like your Videos keep up the good work and greetings from germany :)
I remember playing the first one of these and being terrible at it. May have to dig up a cheap copy and giving it a go again.
I wish the games had sold better. We could've seen a Chameleon Twist 3!
[Try4ce] I use the Ultra HDMI mod with my N64! I'm totally in love with it. ruclips.net/video/qpy1M6v2_MI/видео.htmlm3s
well that was a fun learning experience
On the topic of the tongue being under-utilized, it really seems like a mechanic that Treasure would have done well a lot like Mischief Makers or Silhouette Mirage.

What a great review!
I want Chameleon Twist 3 to happen.
Another great video!
Btw, where can I find that ''game room'' sign behind you?
[Try4ce] Thanks! I wish I could tell ya where the Game Room sign came from, but it was a present from many years ago!
***** I guess I can't copy your gaming room setup 100% then ;)
Rented chameleon twist a few times...ended up buying it as an ex rental from the same blockbuster
Great video ;) I like these two games, i was curious about them as a child. And i have a question, why all of your games and consoles looks so "new"? Are they in a really good condition, or is it just the definition of your camera ?

Please do Sega Saturn !!! you guys are great!
Too much cupcake for one bite XD
dat Hamburger boss! :D
I waaaaaanna eat a cookie. (and I wanna N64 to play this platformer which looks good but I prefer eating a cookie)
That hamburger boss looks delicious.
Seems like Mario Odyssey took some inspiration from Chameleon Twist 2
The enemy at 10:15 looks like Angry Bird.
HIGHER VOLTAGE SCREAMING ACTION
in Chameleon Twist 3 for PS5! There is real high voltage screaming action in this game cause ps5 also HIGH VOLTAGE SCREAMING ACTION in DualShock 5 controller
i would like to see these games on the 3ds i think it would be cool
How many takes with the little debbie? LOL!
[Try4ce] Just one! Well, I did a few takes of the line before I actually ate it.
I remember Chameleon Twist 2, could never get around that stupid pole challenge in the Edo level. >.
Pretty interesting.
Good review, by the way check out chameleon Twist 1 on the cutting room floor, the devs had more dev time so it has more content. There is also a fully translated english patch of the japanese version with error corrections while keeping the games tone. tcrf.net/Chameleon_Twist
My primary weapon is a long tongue ; )
Looks cool but I stopped collecting third party n64 games
Try awesome DuckTales shirt! I have a Darkwing duck shirt!
Looks like Super Mario 3D Land on the N64.
+Jinkoplays [Try4ce] I can see that. Similar camera perspective.
I am still wondering this:
Did these get a release in Europe?
+Mygingerguy [Try4ce] Yes. When I was searching for Chameleon Twist 2 on eBay, I actually found more listings for the PAL version!
Was it cheaper then? Or just as expensive?
[Try4ce] I think it was cheaper, but I can't quite remember.
What was that PS1 game in the intro ?
[Try4ce] Blaster Master: Blasting Again. I just played through it a few weeks ago, and it was surprisingly good!
Chameleon Twist? Chameleon Piss.
Chameleon Twist 2? Chameleon Piss Poo.
haha funny reference that noone will get
Only one insertion shot at 6:09 :(
[Try4ce] I know, bummer, right? It's honestly kind of a relief to edit an episode that's mostly game footage, and much less B-roll to shoot!
But that's my fetish! I NEED this!
anyone know what tomba game is in the intro?
I just recently played this two months ago on my twitch stream.. Let it be known this game is Satan in Disguise. Seriously it will get to you.
how is your toshiba crt connected to the n64?
[Try4ce] Just S-video, nothing fancy. The direct capture shots were using the Ultra HDMI mod, however.
Gene Simmons made a game? Man I missed this one
Please stop using the "Beyond HD" pixellation filter for N64 footage.
Had no idea about these games. The only thing that let's them down are the dated ugly graphics. Even back then they weren't great to look at.
New intro?
[Try4ce] We've got a selection of new intro cuts that we've been using for a few months now.
Complete
Ya, it doesn't look like this company has made much since then, if it's still in business:

[Try4ce] Yep! :)
