    I didn't see a huge number of videos on how to teach a rank beginner of any age on RUclips, so I'm glad to at least see this. Maybe I just haven't figured the right search terms to open up that treasure trove of kids tennis videos.
    Meanwhile, I've figured out some progressions on helping kids and grownups make successful baby steps. Lots of compliments to help them stay focused. Making kids laugh. And for adults or kids I'm starting them with a grip that works for two handed forehands *and* backhands.

    Great Video ! This is what we are looking for as a parent getting involved with kids tennis training. Most of the videos I have seen are more like professional kids tennis hitting at a pro level rather than fundamental techniques like shown in this video.

    Agree completely with parents or any other interested family member be there with kids training. My dad loved football was an all-American RB and without him we wouldn't be as prepared as we surprisingly were when we met new competition at camps. Everything that seem difficult to everyone else was easy for us, most technique and overall IQ of the game not just physical attributes.

    Thank you! My son (5yrs) and I were looking for something to teach him how to play tennis~ I was a soccer player so my knowledge was limited in the tennis dept.. My son liked this video and understands it better. He also noticed how your son kept looking at his center location mark on the court. Thanks again!!

    Great job coach! I find many coach's underestimate kids' intelligence and are afraid to give this amount of information. He seems good with it to me!

    Great to see you working with your kid Bill.... I'm sure many great memories are to come if he sticks with it. A suggestion for whatever it's worth. You might try and think about developing his reception and contact skills first before teaching the full swing. Although he's got the basic idea of the loop and swing, notice, most of the balls he struck weren't centered. Form should follow function.

    This is great. Thanks. But isn't the swing a little too wide (going 90 degrees up at start)? Is that on purpose, for him to get used to a wide swing?

    Hi, His racket is to large, he needs to be using red balls at that age per PTR or Quickstart guidlines. He needs to be able to use path, angle and speed with his stroke. The biggest thing is low to high. Grunt is for a power shot not a touch spot... He is hitting all balls behind him and not out front... Good effort though...

    • @Kontrolism
      @Kontrolism 6 лет назад +1

      The racquet size is fine. If you give them too small or light a racquet, they won't have as much of the feeling of the racquet doing the work in generating power. Many current pros started with heavy adult racquets and trained with regular balls too. To be honest, I'm not convinced it's more beneficial for a child's development to use anything below green dot.

    Sorry Bill, you only learn your son to hit the ball, that's it. The idea is to learn him to play the shot and the game at his level

    Good swing, but his ball is flat, you need to teach him to hit with topspin first.

  • @abctennis4678
    @abctennis4678 5 лет назад +1

    Like that your having him prepare with his racquet back high. It's really a shame many coaches still teach players to take the racquet back low rather than a unit turn.
