    Back when I did my year abroad (while building a travel blog) my biggest mistake was also moving too fast! It can take a while to change your mindset from vacation -> lifestyle. Definitely stay in one place for a month (minimum) to give yourself more time to both work and play.
    And remember: unless you’re rich you’re expected to work! So don’t feel guilty for taking a lot of time to build your business when you could be exploring. Most working professionals only have evenings, weekends, and holidays to unplug, and although your schedule is more flexible now it’s a good goalpost to keep in mind.
    Keep it up! Excited to see where you go ❤

      Thanks so much Wesley! Yeah I think at least one month is good too. Can really get settled down. This has been a nice experiment for me so far and I'm learning along the way! I think I'll just need to get used to a more flexible schedule 😊😊

    I just got back from a bali trip and the whole time I was imagining myself being a digital nomad there, how it would feel, what I would do. And you’re right it’s very overwhelming at first! I can see how it would be so hard to work and want to explore and be with friends. The first few days I felt exhausted and overwhelmed with the motorbikes, trash, business, but then by the time my holiday was over I was sad to leave! And I came back to Australia missing the “chaos” of the place that was actually very fun to scoot around and always be stimulated by great food, shops, everyone being talkative and friendly to you. These places are definitely healing in many ways and thank you for sharing your experiences as I feel I would be similar. It’s been my dream to digital nomad but I can totally see how there’s many difficult aspects to it, but I’m glad to see that it’s well worth the ups and downs to have those travel experiences. Now I need to go back to a job that dictates when I travel again and I’d rather be on my own terms!

    • @DinaLu

      Ahhhh your bali trip sounds so fun and exciting! I'm so glad you had a taste of it even though you aren't officially a digital nomad. We always start to appreciate things once we don't have them anymore / we aren't there anymore, right? 😊 Wishing you all the best on your business journey and hope that you can go back there and experience it again as a digital nomad 💪

    I found you because of your ETSY video, I am considering doing an ETSY shop myself. But I fell you! I got a freelance contract with a good pay for a year last year and started my digital nomad life. But I was constantly overwhelmed with the amount of work that goes into it + 40 hours work week. I didn't make my life easier because I stayed in most of the countries for only a month. And I was sad, that I didn't enjoy everything as much as I thought I would. And it made me even more sad. So I thought maybe the work was the problem - because I do have to be online between 16 and 23. But it sound that ETSY shop might not help lol.
    I also went to Da Nang this February, loved the Ba Na hills, and then to Hanoi - I have a PTSD after trying to cross the streets there. But Ha Long bay is one of the most beautiful things I have seen on my journey

    • @DinaLu
      @DinaLu  Год назад

      Omg that's awesome, congrats on the freelancing and digital nomad life. But mannnnn that's tiring, when you are working on an hourly basis. Sorry to hear your experience wasn't that great!
      Crossing the street in Ho Chi Minh City was so difficult HAHAHA. I went to Danang and it was WAYYY better. Didn't get a chance to go to Hanoi though!

    The work/life balance is definitely the biggest challenge. As you get more experienced with this lifestyle you'll realize that spending a month to two months in one place is ideal to maintain that balance, at least that's what we've found. There's also this nervous excitement about not knowing where you'll go next but still wanting to plan ahead. Finding that balance is also challenging because the further ahead you plan, the better deals/more options you'll find but you sacrifice on your flexibility if something else comes up. You'll like Da Nang for living, Mars' brother spent a couple months there and had a great time. Definitely go to Hoi An, I'd be interested to know what it's like now (we were there 8 years ago) so I'm guessing a lot has changed. Please share your experience in Da Nang as we're considering making a base there in October/November. We're leaving for Thailand in two days if that sparks your interest for your next destination. Enjoy 👍

      Hey Alex & Mars, thanks so much! I've been in Danang for 2 weeks now and I've actually been loving it. The beach is awesome, weather is hot but not overwhelmingly hot, and lots of great local food around. And not as busy as Ho Chi Minh City (I prefer a more chill city). I went to Hoi An for 2 days and I loved it!!! I actually don't have plans to go to Thailand, but perhaps sometime in the future we will cross paths!
