TFW you find out external plunger recons are semi rare and remember you passed one up thrifting. At least I have a red one, even if it's missing the light and sight.

John Grasso I got an external plunger recon on eBay with a strong arm for $15. It was modded so the internals are in rough shape and don't hold much tolerances anymore. I don't know what was done to it but it likes to destroy darts and is really loud when it fires.

The open plunger recons are great because powerstocking is so damn easy. Also, Lefties should be glad that the recon Mk.2's rail is on the right because then it's easier to use third party rail mounted mag holders and reload from them.
I'm glad Xavier refers to the nerf "clips" as magazines it annoys me when people call magazines " clipazines

I didn't know they recalled the recon. That's why my friend's recon back in like 2008 didn't have that black tube when mine did!

If you attempt the Slingfire, make sure you lock in the clutch on the priming lever. You'll see what I mean when you open one up
Thanks for the tip. I rather suspect it will not be able to take k26 without a re-enforced or replaced priming handle. But we will see.
So the recalled Recons were probably the first Soviet made Nerf blasters. After all, it’s not a true Soviet weapon unless the weapon tries to eat you.

One could make the argument that as the successor to the original Recon, the Retaliator is the the spiritual Recon MKII with improved internals but identical looks to the original, and the actual MKII is really a MKIII because of similar internals to the Retaliator but updated looks, and in that case the Delta trooper could even be considered a Recon MKIV (Mark 4) with its similar design aspects and included slam-fire.

I have the one with the plunger tube recall, I didn’t even know that’s why they changed
I just modded my demolisher. No electronic mods yet, but it is a work and progress. It has an apollo tac rail on the side where there is no rail. It also has a seal increase on the missle launcher, and the thing I love about this is that I attached 3/4 pvc on it. Therefore, it takes all the attachments the swarmbolters titan can. The dead space is horrendous though.

Hey captain Xavier, you've probably already figured this out, but for the drain blaster shotgun, if you use a 3/4 pvc to 3/4 inch cpvc adapter and attach a 3/4 inch cpvc to 1/2 inch cpvc with a 1/2 inch length of 3/4 cpvc, you can make a really powerful sniper for elites

I'm a lefty, well ambi anyway, and I love my Recon MKII with a Blasterparts Tactical Range Kit installed.
I know people hate the Recon MKII but I actually really like it, it was one of my first mods, it's comfortable to prime, the grip is nice and (modded) hits hard, the stock is useless, but that's not an issue, it looks great with the Stealth Ops Kit Proximity Barrel on it as a pistol and the RDS looks cool too, even thoughit kinda gets in the way of priming the blaster.

I have an ancient recalled Recon. I have all of the rare parts but I gutted it for the breech because it was awful. Amazing what you can find at Goodwill, huh?

When I was around 6 I got my first blaster which was a white shell retaliator elite it was like 2014/2015 and since I had that blaster for like 6 years at this point the spring is weak now and I was looking to replace it, but it cannot take a k26 so what spring should I get to bring the blaster back to life? Or should I just drop around $30 in an aeon pro?
Also around 2 years ago I picked up another white shell retaliator for $6 from someone at a garage sale.

Supposedly. I have heard of it, I have never done it.
TNTlover9 I have done it once... it is definitely possible but a slight pain... since the recon is reverse plunger the exit hole in the stock attachment point is slightly too large. Thus you have to use a sort of pipe to act as a spring holder. I uses some duct tape and part of the original plunger for that purpose. It is definitely a fun project and it works well, though mine is slightly hard to prime. I can email you pictures of the one I built if you are interested!
Ah, thank you! Though, I may be able to figure out it (hopefully). I found a broken Retaliator at a Deseret Industries (didn't buy it, mistake) and thought perhaps I could stuff it into one of my Recons.

I put the retailator guts in the recon mk2 and it works but I kept the springs from mk2 cause they was better, stronger ,and no air holes in the tube of retail at or, the said thing is I have the first version if mk2, so grrr only 6 round mags for me, until I shell mod it....maybe idk yet
the XD series isnt improved. it just has a different paintjob
the retaliator also came in a sonic ice blue. the recon mkii wasn't recalled but if you purchased the original and wanted to you could exchange it for the newer version.

Ok now with the alphatrooper and 2.0 Echo we got a family of recon "reskins" hasbro has enough of this tipe of blasters to make a whole new line
not sure if youve already done it in another video. i haven't memorized them =P. but i would be curious if the Rebelle: Rapid Glow could take one. though i suspect not, given the pattern here. its my personal aesthetic favorite of that sort of blaster archetype.

Captain Xavier its basically the Rebelle version of the Retaliator. Its from the Super Stripes subset. Its included magazine has a light in it to charge glow darts, hence the name.

The Retal can take a surprising springload (14kg with catch-spring upgrades). Ask Chris Cartaya about that.
Oh, I am fully aware that the Ret can take a massive spring load. It just cannot take k26. K26 is not the right shape.

The original Recon had an external plunger rod that would catch small children's hands. So there was a recall.
k26 a Magnus. it would fit into this season, it has an internal mag.
Hey Capn' I saw the really great condition deploy you found in your thrifting vid, good find. But if you want to get good performance out of an otherwise poo blaster use the internals from a retaliator for boosted performances

well you can't put it at 8:26 but you can do what everyone else has done with it and put the extra spraying of either the same gun or using the one from like the shotguns IE the Rampage
I’ve owned the recall and the clear version.
I recently got an XD Roughcut from Goodwill. When I prime it, it fires 2 darts out the left barrel but the right barrel works fine. How could I fix this?
Every time? So it first the first two left and one right on the first prime and then the second two from the left and the second right?
Ah, yes, that is a very common issue when you use slightly older darts. They do not stick in the barrel and the ARs push them out and cause issues. There are several fixes. Some easy, some...not so much. You can brass the barrels (which I need meaning to do to mine...) or you can simple slide a piece of electricians tape down the inside (sticky side towards the barrel). This helps hold the darts in.

Can a buzzbee double shot (the side-by side variant specifically) take a K26? (I assume not but I really want to see what the internals are like).

Can you put links in the description for all the blasters featured in each video from now on? Some people don't know where to look, and I am sure a lot of people want to do the mod themselves. Also, when you don't use K26 but still upgrade the spring, if you know what blasters it is from can you tell us on the video?
Most of these blasters have been discontinued so there is not link to give. And most of the time I have no idea where the spring I use is because they are just in my bin of random springs. Sorry. :/

Partially nothing. The stampede is entirely a springer. It is just a motorized springer. I will be covering all the motorized springs together eventually.

The recon mk2 binded on Mr out of the box which i was sad because the nerf gun I have the most memories of is the recon but It couldn't prime all the way

Captain Xavier have you ever opened up a Buzz Bee jaguar and seen the spring that the gun has in it? I had that gun and it just sound like it hit hard but then not sure how the gun broke and would no longer work at all, so I decided to use it for parts and when I saw the spring it was the toughest spring that I had and so I had put the jaguar's spring into my Retaliator, which made it hit soo much harder then it was hitting at stock and even harder then when I had it doubled springed which I was surprised about.
But anyways so I was just wondering if you maybe happen to know where the jaguar's spring would stand next to a k26 spring? I am pretty new to all this so I have just been started to get into this stuff so I haven't never seen a k26 spring nor know how tough they are, so I was just hoping if I were to ask you about how those two springs compare to each other if you could maybe tell me.

No. The original Recon has completely different internals.

if you replaced the retaliator's catch with one that didn't get in the way, does that mean the retaliator could take K26?
No. The bit that gets in the way is the bit that catches the plunger head. Getting rid of it would mean it would not catch...
but what if you replaced it with one that was wide enough to fit the spring? would that work?
also, i might have taken inspiration from eir when i started planning out an air powered multi projectile firing underbarrel
...still no...width was not the issue. The issue is that the part of the catch that engages with the plunger head and thus allows the blaster to be primed also catches on the K26. If you alter the catch so it does not catch on the k26 it will also then NOT catch the plunger head and thus you will not be able to prime the blaster.

I recently saw the internals of one and it is just a reshelled guardian crossbow...but without slamfire...cuz...why bother giving it any good features. But as such it cannot take k26.
Can you put retaliator internals into an original recon cs-6? If so I may be an aftermarket retaliator kit with upgraded spring to renew a recon I thrifted at my local goodwill.
Yes. It is referred to as a "Retalicon." There are plenty of mod guides out there for how to do the conversion.
Dear Captain Xavier,
I cannot find a screwdriver that has a small enough circumference to fit inside most nerf gun screw holes. Therefore, I cannot take apart my blasters!
