To the people that ask for more time, this kind of short videos are just for awake the curiosity and another sense of music.. it's not a class, or a guide, it's just a little taste of what you can do if you study and hear the music with attention.
Merci Monsieur Barenboim.
Thank you for this. I'm a great admire of yours. The love and appreciation of Lizst has been a part of my life. My 95 year old mother studied piano (as a a child) with one of Liszt last students.
Just a mention to those truly interested in Liszt, go no further than Prof. Alan Walkers three Books on Liszt, in which he spent over twenty years in pure research and documentation from Liszt early barnstorming Virtuoso years, in which over seven years traveled throughout all Europe and Russia giving concerts from all the past masters, and his compositions to those who would otherwise never have opportunity to see a concert, symphony or opera. It is an amazing story of the music of the nineteenth century, the composers, artists, aristocracy. I know you will enjoy it!
Sr. Baremboim.
Again, Maestro, too short insight! I love Liszt's music. We would love for these videos to be longer. Thank you for your words, we truly appreciate them.
Barenboim, you ate outstanding, as always. Thanks for the lecture, maestro! Am I the only person on the planet that likes playing the staccatos and the pauses in the first part, with the "bells"? One day I will complete my studies on this piece and and play it.
Me encantaria verlo si viene por New York. Ahora vivo aca. Muchisimas gracias de nuevo. No me pierdo estos 5 minutos por nada.
Bravo Maestro! Please, - Tchaikovsky, Piano Concerto no. 1 - Bach, Saint Matthew Passion, and/or English Suite no. 2 The idea of this channel is brilliant. Thank you to all involved.
Mr Barenboim, please comment on more piano pieces. It helps me understand these piano pieces better. RUclips really lacks good explanation of piano pieces. My kids both have classical piano lessons, and I am in the learning process of piano music together with them, I love it but it is not very easy to get into. Your video's help. Thank you for being on youtube!
Wonderful maestro! I love Liszt's transcendental etudes but this piece is new to me. Could Mr. Barenboim do a video on Liszt's friend Alkan? Maybe a video on one of the etudes in a minor key? Thank you!
And of course I would love to hear you talk about Wagner`s ring cycle, obviously in various videos. The same goes for Bruckner´s symphonies, one episode for each symphony would be amazing. Hope we can hear you talk about those. Thanks!
I would really like to hear about Saint-saens 2nd piano concerto ,or grieg's one ... or Mozart's concerto for 2 pianos ! thank you so much for sharing your knowledges !
Incredible the way Me Barenboim talk about the music and those little things behind the composition and the author. I suggest that the team behind this channel add subtitles for the non English speakers. I'm Spanish for example but it would be easier for us to have them. I would like to hear your opinion of Gershwin and his Rhapsody in Blue if possible.
Please maestro! Tell us your ideas behind Liszt's Sonata in B minor! I would especially LOVE to hear what you think about the thematic background of the masterpiece!
Thank you so much for this wonderful video! Maestro Barenboim plays as a god and what he tells is very interesting too, as usual! I might make a few suggestions, hoping they can be useful: -5 minutes are too few to properly speak about these incredible masterpieces; -the video editing could be more accurate. Thank you again!
Maestro Barenboim, Thank You! Possibly a short dissertation on Mozart Concerto 23, K488 - Relationship of orchestral voices (clarinet, flute, etc) to the piano and the Concerto as an entity, would be most appreciated!
Dear Maestro Barenboim, thank you for this contribution! If I may make a request: I would love to see you talk about different tempi in piano sonatas. What is the right tempo? And why do all virtuous concert pianists play so staggeringly fast. Thank you!
Thank you very much for these videos. It would be very interesting to hear you about Wagner, the orchestration of the overtures of Tristan, Lohengrin, Rheingold. And also on the emotional force of Isolde's Liebestod (joint conversations with Waltraud Meier would also be very interesting ). Also on Shubert's Impromptus or sonatas. As an auditor I'm always frustrated by the form of the recital and the absence of any verbal communication from the soloits/conductors to the concert audience. Concerts would be even more attractive if the artists could share their views at the end of the performance, on the piece, on the composer, their feeling on the way they performed it.... The younger generations would also appreciate it. Julien
One of my best friends, a composer, teacher, habitue of ´Artist Colonies´,Yaddow, McDowell, etc. calls Liszt ´A minor Romantic.Time was, there was a sucker born every minute. These days, they are lined up around the corner....
Thank you very much for your video, Mr. Barenboim. I have a question for you, that is, if you are open for any requests. Are you familiar with the case of the Hungarian composer/pianist Ervin Nyiregyházi, a rare talent, even among prodigies, who never found his place in the uncompromising musical business? Do artists have to make compromises? Is it merely a matter of taste, or another sign foreboding the decline of classical music? What can we, the normal listeners, do for such individual talents and for art as a whole?
Mr. Barenboim, I so appreciate your discussions on these classical composers. I'm a huge fan of Liszt, Chopin, Brahms, etc. But do you also explore the music of Jazz composers and musicians such as Bill Evans and others? It would be especially interesting if you approached them from the perspective of a the world famous classical musician and conductor you are. If not, thanks so much anyway. I'll still be a loyal listener and visitor.
To the people that ask for more time, this kind of short videos are just for awake the curiosity and another sense of music.. it's not a class, or a guide, it's just a little taste of what you can do if you study and hear the music with attention. 💕
Muchas gracias por esta oportunidad ❤️

Great seeing this extraodinary pianist talking about one of my favourite pieces !
Most interesting.
James Vandenburg played this when we lived at 667 W. Barry St. in Chicago 1969. Thanks for the memory!
