- In this video I share with you the exchange rate from Dollars to Pesos. We also visit a small corner store to check and compare Dominican prices to American prices. The dollar continues to get stronger in Dominican Republic. This means you money stretches further as this happens. In this video I tell you what the current exchange rate is and the price of a few items in the grocery store compared to the US. Also if you are looking for apartments check on this video where I show you 2 basic style apartments for under $300 ruclips.net/video/S7nVy9ke7do/видео.html
Norberis R. I was told that some places in the DR would rather have the American dollar instead of the Peso. Is that true?
In tourist areas. Typical Dominican establishments they don't accept dollars. I can say this especially about Santo Domingo.
Norberis R. Realiy? I’m thinking that it’s a better option being that the US dollar stretches more .
This is a good video about the comparison of us dollar and DR pesos
Honestly very insightful video I'm going to Santo Domingo at the end of February to go visit my girlfriend family for the first time so I'm watching all video about the Dominican republic
Thats awesome! Does you girlfriend live there or the States?
@@NorberisR she lives here and her family lives in Santo Domingo
The cost of living there is great compared to my own.... When I was there I really enjoyed cooking. It was a blessing. I love everything about RD
Yes, the country and culture can be very addictive.
This is great information. Gracias.
Good information. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. I'll be in the DR in a couple weeks. You're timing is great!
Glad this was helpful!
Woow that's great. When I was there the exchange rate was 51.90! You could also do a video on being cautious on spending Dominican money at night. The 500 bills and the 2000 bills is almost the same color. And you especially have to be careful with the 100 bills and 1000 bills at night, especially after having a drink or 2.. Lol
You are correct about spending money at night. I always gwt confused with the 500 and 2000...lol!
Rico Osito You’re so right.
The value if the dollar is increasing. Good stuff.
Thank you!
Thanks for showing because I was completely lost about understanding this lol
You're welcomed😊
Great informative content Norberis. Caribe Express gives you a good rate also.
You are correct. They have good exchange rates.
Good info
Gracias, Richie!
That some good info
Yes😊
Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching!
Great to know glad you did video you need to do more I need learn the value of the money out there in Domincan Repulic
Glad it was helpful. I just released a video 5 days ago about Dominican pesos, go check it out.
I need learn the value of the monny there in philppiness Dominicana republica
Good video! Now quit playing and tell auntie to holla at me when I come to Santo Domingo 😂
Lol!
Another thing to mention, If you are staying in the tourist areas. You need to get outside those areas or find where the locals shop to get the local prices. People staying in a majority tourist area don't think about this.
This is a great point and very true.
thank you
Your welcomed.
Once I get settled in DR. I'll definitely be saving a huge amount of cash on groceries. Especially sense until I find someone to cook for me.
I'll be eating out most of the time... Good information to know though, thank you! #Hotep
I should have went a little more detail because condiments are not much a difference but when it comes to fruits, vegetables, and meats is where you can save money especially if you buy it fresh from the market.
🤩...🤔No "Long Lines" @ that Western Union [3 yrs ago😉]... 👏🧐It was very interesting hearing, seeing, and watching an old episode of ur channel! (⏳this was my first time seeing this clip) ...🌺👩🍳🥣Totally unnecessary; but nevertheless it is heartfelt of you admitting feeling awful about not knowing about "Cream of Wheat"😅👏🤗😂 ...Which is understandable, would likely also be due to a cultural, regional, AND a generational thing (that I'm sure many of the 🇺🇸 citizens also would likely share your same response!😄 ...for whatever reason, your response really resonated as wonderful!... The subscriber also references the basic name (Farina) of well known brand name of the product... I certainly can't speak about it's popularity everywhere, but I enjoyed on many mornings in the South as well as in the state of Pennsylvania too!😋 Also during breakfast in DR & PR at various times... 👍💲👀
Thank you for going back into my catalog Randy and sharing your perspective ❤️🤗
50 Dom pesos to 1 USD. Just divide the Pesos by 50 to get the amt in US dollars. Muchas gracias por un video. Muy informativo. Yo visito Puerto Plata República Dominica en 30 de enero a 4 de febrero.
Gracias!
I just got the same rate at Caribe Express this morning
Yes, Caribe express give great exchange rates also.
Although the dollar has got stronger the Peso weaker... Cost of living in DR is getting expensive for the locals.
This true. This probably could be said in just about any place including America. Inflation comes for us all..lol!
@@NorberisR Exactly! Inflation in the US is growing extremely faster than wages. The middle class is shrinking pushing more people into poverty. You are exactly right. I'll take my usd to the DR (and other Latin countries) and help locals as much as I can via tourism.
Hi Norberis, what about the UK Sterling ?.. London UK Subscriber here
Looks like 69 Dominican pesos for 1 pound sterling. Thanks for the support from the UK.
hello, there are other places that exchange them a little bit higher than vimenca, caribe express or banks. Those other money exchangers are privately own
From my experience Vimenca and banks give the best rates. I don't know of any privately owned exchangers.
@@NorberisR you may wanna check it out, another day
Diablo, she opened my head up . Una lata plata 🤑
🤔
What about fresh fruit and vegetables. What about the price of fresh seafood, Beef and Poultry ?
I'm going to d a part 2 of this. My initial intent was just to talk about the exchange rate and on the way home I stopped by a mini market and decided to film a few things. But I will do a fruits, vegetable, and meats pricing.
Okay, cool. Thanks
It seems like the prices are comparable to that of the US
Yes, the prices are comparable. Mostly with vegetables and meats is where you will see a bigger difference.
I'm here now and most things are about same price but I save more money on eating out and the bars are like 2.00 a drink compared to NYC 8.00 to 12.00 a drink
@@BklynBlinks You are right most things are priced the same. Eating out, drinks, meats, fruits and vegetables, and housing are what you save your money on.
@@NorberisR yup,yup.. exactly
How much is a king size bed in the DR?
It really depends where you buy it from. But I will say around $500
What is the average employment income and does it cover the average cost of living expenses? What is considered average income and expenses to live normal in Santo Domingo? Also do you have a video on schools for American Expat children wanting to attend ? I was told that an expat can attend public school in the DR till 8 grade but then after that they must be a resident to continue going to public school or the alternative is private school which is more expensive than private schools here in the USA. What are your thoughts and advices??? 🤷🏻♀️
The average cost for a unprofessional job is around 15,000 pesos and for professional its about 25,000 to 35,000 pesos. I don't have a video on schools in DR yet. I'm not kowledgable on the requirements for school. I will have to do some research. Maybe I will do one on that in a future video.
Is that a weekly or monthly salary?
@@ladonacarmen That's monthly.
Ok. Got it! Thank you!!! When’s your interview with Rebecca being aired??? She announced she was interviewing you last week.
@@ladonacarmen it came out today. You can check it out.
Cebuano joshoa alden..😃☺
How does exchanges work? Can i exchange cash or does it have to be from a card? Can I use a card or does it have to be cash ? Is there a limit to how much I can exchange at once ? How common are these places that exchange currency ? Can I exchange currency at the airport and do they allow cash, card or both at the airport exchange (if there is one)? How safe am i storing a large amount of American currency in my place(2nd story apartment that has a locked door to enter the building and, of course, a locked door to enter the apartment). I don’t want to leave my money in my American bank for a long period of time so I plan on arriving with less than $10000 in cash as permitted by law but I would like to get a lot more of my money out of the bank as soon as possible and either store it in a Dominican bank or a safe in my apartment. Love your channel 🙂
Yes, you can exchange cash and you can also take money from a debit card at a ATM. You can take money from a credit card if you go to a bank. I havent heard whether there's a limit on how much you can exchange. However, I wouldn't do more than $3000 at one time. These exchange places are all over but I recommend exchanging at banks or Vimencas you get better rates. Dont exchange in the airport the rates are low. Your money should be safe in your apartment but again I dont know where you are staying and the security level just be careful.
Norberis R. Thanks for responding. Last question, do the ATMs give out USD ?
Lol...nope...pesos
Are you serious?
About what?
