    This is the historical and professional perspective that is usually missing from many RUclips videos. I will admit that I care less about the specs and am much more concerned about the usability of a unit. Thanks for sharing so much knowledge.

    Easy Hack for the spotlight mini zoom: I took off the yoke, and added in a very thin piece of aluminum in between the teeth, and it works great now, very fine control! You might want to think of doing that Luke!

    Cracking video - have ordered a couple of the Neo 7Cs - my current DLED7 Bi Colour gets used on just about every job! Though key thing for the future is CRMX build in - you are on the nail there chap. The Dedo backward compatibility with really high quality fixtures is a big deal - Imagers, softboxes, polarisers, parallel beam adaptors etc

    For small bicolor, See also Dedo's tiny Ledzilla and Fotodiox Popspots. Both have conductive battery mounts, not Dtap kludge. Ledzilla is so small, but the spot range and barndoors are great for quickly boosting a face or object in a wideshot without disturbing overall lighting setup. Nice when you have talent with widely different complexion,s and you need a quick fix. A number of dedo modifiers can be attached. Softbox, diffusion tube etc

    i wanted to say, in the forza 60 gen 1 , the power brick comes with a sled that cradles the brick and it has v mount outside. but, if you look closely on both sides of the v mount there are holes 4 of them, they have a little symbol of a zip tie, u re supposed to zip tie the cradle on the stand and then mount the brick onto it. i am not sure about the 60II and 60 c, have u given it a deeper look maybe u could fit zip ties? cheers

      There are good all-in-one solutions like Gaffer’s Control and the Exalux Control One. I use an iPad Pro app called Blackout Lighting Control, but it requires a separate transmitter like an AKS or Apollo Bridge or one of the new transmitters from Exalux or Lumen Radio. For more info check out the Blackout Lighting Console channel on RUclips.

      @meetthegaffer  Год назад +1

      Totally depends how much output you can get away with and how well you want that Medium box to be evenly filled. I’ve done it and it works, but it’s not my go to combo. Not sure that helps you😬

    Could a 60x with the spotlight mt mini replace the DedoLight7 entirely in terms of control and also output?

    • @meetthegaffer
      @meetthegaffer  Год назад

      The 60x with the mini spot mount is going to be much larger than the DLED7 units with a projection lens and you wouldn’t have crmx controllability. But if you are already playing in a Sidus Link world it could be a good move. I’m actually using the Nanlite 60c’s instead of the new Dedo Neo’s because they were available first. One thing that only the Dedo projection will give you that the others won’t is the ability to rotate the mount. It’s a small thing, but it can drive you crazy.

    • @ChenProductionsCo
      @ChenProductionsCo Год назад

      @@meetthegaffer Good points. Aside from those functional and dimensional considerations though, would it be possible to get the same light quality out of a 60x + Spotlight mini VS a DLED 4 bi?

    • @meetthegaffer
      @meetthegaffer  Год назад +1

      @@ChenProductionsCo You would be in the same neighborhood. The Dedo would have a longer spot-flood range, but the 60x has the nifty ability to attach a 14V v-mount to the bale and power it with a single D-tap cable. A CRMX enabled version of the 60x would be slick.

    • @ChenProductionsCo
      @ChenProductionsCo Год назад

      @@meetthegaffer noticed you used it with the softbox in the Google BTS breakdown. How are you finding the output? I have the 60x and have not pulled the trigger on the softbox or the spotlight mount, I feel like the output is subpar and wonder about the practicality of using the fixture after reducing intensity even more through these mods.

    • @meetthegaffer
      @meetthegaffer  Год назад

      It totally depends how you use it. With fast cameras and lenses it has plenty of output through a modifier. DLED7 units have good output for their size and the 60x has more than that, so it’s all relative. You usually give up output for more flexibility; and these days, I’ll take that trade😉

    Hey luke, how has the receiver on the projector mount for the 60C held up? I demoed it , loved the unit, but i felt like it would be easily stripped/ and render the precision projector kind of useless. If they have been holding up or no problems, on your end i might just have to pick some up

    The thing about the bi color aputure 60x is it's not powerful enough . The aputure 60d full power especially when using the zoom attachment. Can the aputure 60d ( non bi color ) be gelled with some tungsten gels in the fixture or the zoom attachment?

    • @meetthegaffer
      @meetthegaffer  2 года назад

      When you say it’s not powerful enough it makes me wonder how you are using it. Perhaps bumping up to a 300x makes more sense for the way you want to use the light?

    • @creativegreats6924
      @creativegreats6924 2 года назад

      @@meetthegaffer I tested aputure 60x out twice with spot light zoom attachment vs the nanlite 60 daylight with spotlight zoom I put gobo's inside the zoom attachments of each and the nanlite 60 was more crisper when pointing light at the wall .you could see the designs from the gobo much cleaner and defined . At a fair distance the aputure 60x (using tungsen setting ) with gobo inside zoom attachment tends to fade when pointed at the wall it's not as crisp because its half the power of a nanlite 60 do to it being bi color .

    • @meetthegaffer
      @meetthegaffer  2 года назад

      @Creative Greats Right, but what about going with a 300x and the appropriate spotlight mount? That way you get the full range of white light at an output intensity that works for you? Adding CTO gel to your daylight fixture woks as well, but you will lose intensity. If you want the output of the daylight only unit, but prefer tungsten, I would go to a brighter unit that still gives you the warmer Kelvin that you are looking for😀

      Together we thrive and together we fall. It’s wise to be as self-sufficient as possible, but whether we like it or not we are so globally intertwined it would be difficult to grow up whole domestic industries overnight to shift our reliance from off-shore product. We would need to shift our nation’s mindset regarding low-cost goods as well, which might be even harder🙂
