I can DEFINITELY RELATE!! Even after my injury when I was in a wheelchair for several months, I was like I can do it. Just hold me up😂🤣🤣. Now, I know how 🤪 I sounded. It's ok to want to learn and do as much as you can. But it's ok to accept help too. It's a tough lesson that I am still learning!!! Take pride sister you did that! Most ppl wouldn't be able to do what you have accomplished. Stay blessed and highly favored. Job well done!

I’m 50 yrs old and by myself because I never learned to accept help, ask for help, or even take a compliment. That is the common complaint from my ex’s 😂. Knowing is half the battle and great that you have figured it out early. As for the grass, you can buy grass plugs that are already cut and can fit in the bare spots. You can also use 3 in 1 fertilizer for southern lawns. There is also green paint with fertilizer to cover the bare spots. And for the mulch you can recolor and revitalize it with a sprayer until you change to rocks. YT has a ton of videos on painting mulch. 😊

Shanda - my soul sista. I was sitting on my garage floor yesterday, putting together a canopy I bought last year (don't judge me) and thinking, THIS is why people get married...lol. I was so over it! I've been single more than not, so I'm used to doing everything by myself. But that canopy?!? Nah yo, it is doing me in. I need at least two other people. I got a little sad and began feeling sorry for myself. Then - I watched this video. There is so much I have to do on my own as a new home owner. BUT, there is so much I don't have to do! Because I have new construction, the builder comes and fixes any big issue, including completely resoding my front AND back yard. I had no idea the cost or the burden if I had to do it myself. You opened my eyes to how blessed I am. Lord, I'm sorry for being ungrateful - I'm extremely blessed! And I thank Him for using you to remind me of that. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏽 💛 🙏🏽

You did do that sis, you research found out what you needed and you prep everything and God saw fit to send someone your way. He know just how much we can bare and then he does stuff like this. Won't he do it. I had to stop the vdo just to type this. Gurl, I was the same way. It's hard out here for pimp when the HOA got spending money for the look of it all. You did that. Take accountability for it. I am so glad there are people who see a need and reach out. It so hard to accept. When he sends it, accept it. Love you girl.😁😁Hang up the hat. At least you won't have to workout. That's it, That's all. It turned out great, looks good.

It will help the patches. Thank me later! lol (I used weed and feed, I had bad weeds, but it grew my grass perfectly)

Bruh, tell me why I'm getting emotional at this video?! Jeez lol! But yes ma'am, I'm totally the same way about independence. I followed your videos as I was starting my home search. Even though I was approved by NACA, I didn't use them only because how the market is and available homes in my area. I moved into my new home 3/28 and everything has been on my own. It's so hard to accept help and it sounds so weird, but it's definitely a thing. I'm learning though. My tip is to just keep trying to say yes when someone genuinely offers and say thank you. The universe sees your effort and will send you who and what you need sometimes. And here's another way to look at....don't deny someone's opportunity to do something good so THEY can be blessed as well. Keep making us proud suga!

Just because I didn’t finis a project doesn’t mean I didn’t do it. He laid it for you, you laid for it though and helped assist home so you did that. Don’t be hard on yourself.

Get some compost and rake it into the dead pieces and keep them soaked. It’ll fill in. The grass around it will crawl in too. I fixed patches in my sod like that. Then give the lawn a good dose of pre-emergent and fertilizer. You did a great job! Get a hose timer too so you don’t have to worry about being present for watering.

First, know that the way this went down was No accident!! it was absolutely a teachable moment. You were determined as you always are to get what needed to be done,,,,done! However, this man, assuming he was as nice as he sounds kept comin' round offering & truly when you had worked yourself to the bone & honestly needed the help most if you think about it - you acquiesced! Teaching you that it is ok to accept help - that is the first step! You still did the hardest part yourself - no one can take dat away!! Accepting that it IS OK to accept help. Next will be asking for help before you put yourself in the hospital from heat stroke or dehydration. There is NO shame in asking for help - it simply means that you know how take care of self.....knowing that YES< you do have limits & that is OK!! You are not a machine! Self preservation will eventually allow you to ask! That has been my journey. Much Love - You did it as always ❣

I have to give props where props are due. You did that and no body can take that away from you. You put your blood, sweat and tears in that lawn and it looks great. Even with the little areas where you still have some brown patches it looks great. Your patience and the hope and faith it took for you to not run back to the store to replace the brown patches said a lot about who you are as a person. You never gave up and trusted that with time, care and persistence everything would pay off, bravos to you. Awesome and very encouraging to watch. Keep up the great work and you deserve to pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

Can easily wait forever for most people. Knowing how hard it is, I try to be that person others can rely on, but it is so nice to be on the receiving end. Don't be afraid to embrace the full magnitude of how fortunate and brilliant you are.

Not being able to ask for or accept help is more than likely a trauma response. When we are let down time after time or we grow up with unreliable parents we just start doing for ourselves. It's not your fault. The only way to really unlearn the behavior is to actively remind yourself that you ARE deserving of a helping hand, that not everyone is going to let you down and that there are some genuine people out there and your neighbor is proof. That was really nice of him. Force yourself to accept help when offered but also use discernment bc some people are indeed crazy. With practice you will be able to accept help in no time. I am speaking from experience 💕.

GOD kept sending you a hand. But you did extend yours later and he knew you would that's why he kept sending him by so you could warm up to him to get adjusted to
him. You was so determined and well deserved that help with all the other hard labor you previously had done just get to the part of laying the sod. There is nothing like a beautiful strong woman when we take charge.
It looks so good, I would say probably put some more fertilizer on those slow spots, it may help to give it a boost it just need a little more than the others that wasn't struggling in the beginning. You should be proud of yourself. Great work.

First vid I've seen of yours and i applaud you for stepping up to defend what is yours and standing up to the HOA demons. Sorry you have to be watched over by them, but in hindsight they have caused you to grow personally. I made it very clear to my realtor 8 years ago that no one will ever tell me what I can and can not do to my property and no HOA.
Thankfully I'm obsessed with keeping a tidy lawn that I care for myself. But keep up the great work. Proud of you Ma'm

Letting others help me has been the hardest thing for me to learn. We have very similar lifestyles and I try to tackle everything myself. Recently, I had knee surgery and had to have help. It felt good and uncomfortable at the same time. I have learned that letting others help you us a blessing for them as well. I have a non-profit that helps hundreds of people so I am not familiar with being the recipient of help. We are women of color have to work on that but I totally feel you!

We are the same girl! My fiance and I built a new construction home last year and now that the weather is nicer, we need to do landscaping so we stop losing the sediment lol.
The other day, we went to Home Depot and we were telling the associate that we wanted to pay for our order but we would need to make multiple trips for it since we have a small car. A very nice man named Ray overheard us and when we left, he decided to wait (almost an hr!) for us to come back. When we returned, he told us he had a truck and was happy to take the stuff for us. It CRUSHED me inside to say yes because I am fiercely independent but it was going to take us 6 more trips. We said yes, the associates loaded his truck and he helped us unload everything and even took the empty pallets back to Home Depot. He refused to take any money and told us to pay it forward. Some people are just good! Dont let your independence prevent you from seeing those good people and receiving Gods blessings

I’m in the process of unlearning that same behavior. My father is a contractor and my mother has always been a go getter so the “move I’ll do it myself” attitude came natural to me. I’m a heavy diy’er big projects and power tools are what I live for and I didn’t realize how bad my “independent women syndrome” was until I got married and it has been the hardest thing to unlearn. Having a partner, friend or team mate was not how I was raised either but I’m slowly adjusting to let help happen.
