    Dame said Ant was going to be an all star some day back when he was only scoring like 10 per game coming off the bench. That's why I'm not too surprised that he's performing so great in a bigger role. I couldn't have seen this coming but Dame knows what he's talking about

      you could see it in his rookie year, Blazers were trying to tank the last game for better seeding in the playoffs. so they rested all the starters and Anfernee played all 48 minutes.
      He ended up carrying us to a win 37-9-6 on 62% shooting. so glad to see him finally hit his stride

    Simons hasn’t even scratched the surface yet and will absolutely be an all-star. He would’ve been doing this a while ago if not for Stotts holding him back. Coach Billups has unleashed an animal. Once he learns to consistently get to the FT line it is over. It’s a wrap!

    • @GunninRebel55
      @GunninRebel55 2 года назад

      @@justinthai05 I guess you’re actually right. Our record will have to be over 50 wins for him to get in and he’s still playing behind Dame. They usually will always give the nod to other deserving guys who’ve never had the honor yet like CJ. You almost always have to snubbed a few times before u make it unless you’re an undeniable breakout superstar. MIP should be well within his reach this year tho.
      I always knew he’d get 25 mil per. He might’ve gotten more if we didn’t make that fat offer out the gate. Brunson got 27.5 per and I think Simons is the better player.
      And yes…. This is gonna be one of the funnest and most anticipated summer leagues in a long time. I think Jabari Walker’s gonna come along quicker than ppl think this year especially on the defensive end. I hope so too cause we sure could use an unexpected breakout contributor like Watford last year but a bit better.

    He has made great leaps for sure but Dame and Blazers fans knew this was coming. Look at his rookie year. Last game of the year against the Kings. With all the starters on the bench, he led a 30 point comeback, without that win Blazers would not have gotten OKC in the play-offs and Dame Game-winning/series-winning/ Franchise ending shot never happens. Would be an interesting video to compare Ant from that game to one of these recent ones.

    His finishing and passing game will ONLY get better. I’m so excited for him, now I have TWO big questions:
    1) What’s his next contract gonna look like? He’s a RFA so anyone can shoot an offer and the Blazers will have to match. How much is he worth? I’d be happy to give him a 4 year 80 mil (starting around 17million/ year scaling up overtime).
    2) Dame has been a top 10 NBA player the past few years and WILL be getting the ball every possession. This will be VERY different than what Ant is getting now. Damian Lillard has always struggled to play off ball. We’ve seen it for 9 years with Cj. What makes you think he’ll be any different next season? As a Blazer fan, we are SO hyped about Ant’s rise to stardom but the same issues of a 2 guard backcourt will still lie with ant with no clear solution. We will have to wait and see. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    I saw the potential of Anfernee’s talent prior to him being drafted. The potential I saw is what we’re seeing now! I got the emails to prove it. I was hoping the Lakers would take him at #25 but Portland grabbed him at #24. Because he didn’t play college is the reason he dropped. He was held back by Stotts, but he wasn’t ready (for big minutes) physically and needed to get use to the speed of the NBA. Also, Dame is just too ball dominant. He doesn’t allow his teammates to play to their abilities. For example, when Anfernee is playing with Dame, Anfernee just stands in the corner, waiting to see if the ball comes to him. Most times it didn’t!

Not too mention his on ball gravity too with his perimeter creation, which can open up so much looks for his teammates. If he is used off ball more while also developing a better passing game this man maybe a top 3 pg in the future

    None of this is new. Only thing new about this is his playing time. He took the time to develop his already NBA ready skills from high school to damn near elite levels. Now the league is going to see what the young man is capable of. When he first got to the team he was labeled a "point God" for a reason. This video credit Dame with a lot of his shooting progression, which I'm sure is true, but if you look at his mechanics and rhythm, its real reminiscent of Melo's and they both spent the last two seasons anchoring the bench for Portland.

    • @Mr.Soul99
      @Mr.Soul99 2 года назад +2

      They didn’t come to an agreement on an extension before the season started. Based on his previous season, Portland basically felt he hadn’t proven himself yet and wanted to see how this season would turn out before making any long term commitment with him. Hopefully now they see his true potential and offer him a fair contract or other teams will.

    Dames game is strictly play style Dame Mitchell Simons are all the same players because there play style is basically jack up a bunch of 3s first option then pick and roll this play style don’t win rings. So when u say same player it’s because it’s they play style

    8:42 "Lillard is now approaching his mid 30s".... WTF, Lillard is only 30-31 dude. xD
    Mid 30s is 34-36. Dame is just barely out of his 20s. You're stretching it.

    • @AlexHoops
      @AlexHoops  2 года назад

      He’s 31, and he is approaching his mid 30s, he’ll be 33 in two years, which is what I consider mid 30s. Doesn’t seem like much of a stretch.

    Whoever claims that they knew Simons was going to turn out to be this good are so full of shit. Everyone knows he's extremely athletic that's no surprise. But everyone (except for his teammates) had no idea he could shoot not like he has been, no idea his handles are this good, no idea he can throw dimes and pair that up with his quickness what do you have left???? A top 5 SG in the NBA....

  • @mikeaustin4138

    It's absolutely stunning how many players are not getting called for traveling in this era. I'm a Simons fan, but some of his shots require 4 or more steps. It's insane.
