    Jason Becker is actually a modern day hero. Not many people would carry on composing music with his condition. Such a powerful man

    JB is without a DOUBT one of the greatest guitarists to ever walk the planet.. EVER!! fun fact the guitarist playing the solo in this song is playing jasons legendary blue carvin!! That is a huge honor for that man to play that guitar. Jason wrote maaany of his songs on that guitar. As a fellow shred guitarist for 25yrs ive learned alot listening to and watching jason through the years i have almost all of his cds and cassettesfrom shrapnel days. Not the one of him and roth but its on the wish list. I will forever bow too jason as a major influence on my playing and the impact he made at a very early age on the guitar community and still makes to this very day. The Guitar God

    ALS is better know as Lou Gehrig's disease, Jason has been immobile for over 20 years now and "he now communicates with his eyes via a system developed by his father. Due to the nature of the disease, he remains mentally sharp and, with the aid of a computer, continues composing". So, yeah he basically writes the music down and has people come in and play it. But yeah great song without the context, but add in the context and it takes it to a whole nother level

      @@themightyfp Thanks for the reaction! It does a great service to Jason to get his music out there anyway, anyhow! But, you really should check out his playing to see why it's such a tragedy his talent was taken so young. His first album Perpetual Burn was recorded when he was 18 (mentioned in other posts). You can pick any track, but Altitudes, Air and Perpetual Burn are probably the most popular tracks.

    His father designed a way for them to comunicate so he can write music and words. Neat story, great guitar player. He did 2 great albums with Marty Friedman from Megadeth fame. Incredible stuff.

    Your reaction is about the same as mine ..The first time I heard this .. and I like it a Whole Lot !!! . Being a metalhead and knowing Becker's illness , I loved the fusion of soaring guitars and the beauty of black spirituals . Almost angelic and I loved that it just kept building and building and came to rest on a note of unity .. Awesome choice . I can see myself playing this tonight in my garage over a few beers .. and perhaps a few tears

    Jason is LEGENDARY among the music world... one of the greatest guitarists to walk the planet. He was supposed to be david lee roths next guitarist and it was gonna show the world just who becker was and how good he was at such a young age.. he played on the album but before the tour he came down eith ALS. It took his ability to move and speak. He no longer plays but DOES write. He hires great guitarists to play his songs. Hes a veeeery strong, passionate and amazing person. The guitarist playing the solo is playing jason beckers actual blue carvin!! That guitar is legendary in itself!! A stunning tribute to jason to play his own guitar in the song jason wrote. His father invented a program where jason spells with his eyes and the computer will put it all together. Thats how he writes his songs and music too... he still has the passion. A remarkable
    dude!

    Pretty sure this was released only about a month ago. Jason Becker did compose the song, amongst many other songs that will comprise an album soon I believe, with a bunch of guest performances from bad-ass guitarists. He's an awesome dude, great reaction. He straight up was better than any guitarist out there at 18 years old. This guy is the real deal. Check out Perpetual Burn. Cheers! \,,/ \,,/

    Jason was such an incredible player, this song shows how strong his desire is to still write even though he is unable to play. So sad

  • @markweimar4807
    @markweimar4807 5 лет назад +1

    He wrote it with his mind abd makes changes, and then more changes, then he might scrap a whole section and add something bew melodically, but he communicates it all with his eyes, his mind understands music and music theory and he can communicate it perfectly over time. its painstaking but rewarding process. Theres a documentary that shows this process in the working, its a movie called Jason Becker Not Dead Yet.

    Daniele Gottardo played Jason's actual blue Carvin guitar on this video - that's why he kissed it when he was in the picture frame. There is a bit of old footage of Jason playing it while Daniele plays his solo.

    He writes his program with a special software he hasin a computer at home, that basically allows to use his eyes as a mouse and I think he moves his chin to pull a small lever to act as the click. And basically Jason writes his songs note by note, literally all the arragements be guitar, bass, drums, chorus, voice melody, its all done note by note.

    Jason is my guitar hero! If you want to hear him actually play check out the songs "Altitudes" and "Perpetual burn" and then check out what he wrote in David lee roth's band "it's show time" This is my first time hearing this song as well. The song was great and so was the singer!!

    Peace to you man. ✌✌ This guy was a machine, and very sad he got ALS. He's been alive forever even though be should have died many years ago the doctors said. He's a really killer musician. This was written by him. ALS is also called Lou Gerriggs disease. PROBABLY spelled his name wrong. It paralyzes ones muscles and usually within about 3 to 5 years I believe the person passes. I may be wrong, but it completely destroys the body.
    He was playing for David Lee Roth of Van Halen fame when he noticed he was getting numb in his arm or leg or something and went to the doctor and found out. He was told he only had 3 years I believe. I am telling you this from memory. There are many clips of him on yt. He is a great great guy. Many rock stars have had special performances to help him financially and for his benefit because he's so loved.
    At the time he got the gig with Roth it was a major achievement. He was the man. It's a very sad story.
    He communicates with a special board he invented with his father and he can move his eyes and look at it and spell out what he's trying to say. I've seen him do it on YT.
    He can write music because first and foremost he understands musical language and knows notation. So, he can still write with the help of others and computer hardware and software. He's a genius.
    There is a movie about him called " Not dead yet" I want to see. It's on YT now so I will have to watch.

  • @stevej.1428
    @stevej.1428 5 лет назад +1

    He has a web site with plenty of info on his life and situation and a movie/documentary called "Not Dead Yet". Yes, he writes all the music that he has to have others perform for him now. He does his writing using a system that allows him to use his eye movements to score music on a computer. You can always listen to his material before ALS struck him down to find out what kinda musician he was then, and what he was capable of as a guitarist. He's an inspiration to all.

    If I'm not mistaken he uses one of those eyeball tracking computer deals to type and compose music -- he's like ike Stephen Hawking crossed with Yngwie Malmsteen -- fucking awesome

    ALS is a disease that pretty much stops you from moving and being able to speak, most don't survive as long as he has. Jason is an amazing person and still continues to write music. Has never let anything stop him.
