Hej, Polacy, nie wiedziałam, że tylu z nas zafascynował gypsy punk :) Pozdrawiam! For me this piece is what I expect from music. I don't know exactly, what it is, but it gives me peace and my soul is now filled. I simply love this song!
The Romanian part of this song is really beautiful, so sad it makes me want to cry. It is difficult for me to translate as the girl singing has a very heavy Transylvanian accent, but it is something like: "You're a good girl, you're a big girl, but you have no soul. Come out, come out, so all of the gypsies can see you, come out, come play with me!" and the refrain something like "Oh God, what is wrong with me, oh God, what is wrong with me?" Very beautiful, yet very sad.
nu gasesc ce e cu mine!! dupa melodia assta =) ... то ли ведьмы , то ли цыгане , а мы нихуя не знаем .... =) translatiom: can be whitches , can be gypsies ... but we don't know shit =) ai aiiaiaiiaa
A friend turned me on to this amazingly unique band in... What was it, '03? Somewhere around there... The first song he ayed me was "Bordello Kinda Guy" and I got hooked instantly! This song in particular reminds me of my last summer as a kid/civilian after highschool graduation; we were all GB fans and this one night we were high ASF after getting stoned and we went to go wonder through the woods and this was what I had playing in my head-it was such a beautiful day, like we had zero cares in the world 😄 then come August I shipped out to "The School of Hard Knox" (Ft. Knox, KY) for 16wks of training to be an M1 Abrams tanker, and that was the end of my care free life as a long haired stoner lol
@OmletteDuFromage1 Romanians don't hate them.. the few exceptions who do, do it because they don't understand them or had random few bad experiences with them; the writing "jesty" is done like this to hint at how it should be read internationally (it is according to the International Phonetic Alphabet); it helps people pronounce it
@KostaVV she's a former member of the band; you can find information about members on wikipedia; her name is Andra Ursuta (percussion, backing vocals, Dance, general performance) - Romania
If you listen to their music and then worry about who is a gypsy and who is not then do me a favour: Grind all of your Gogol cd's in to a very fine dust and snort it. Maybe in that manner you will understand what this music is about.
holy shit! thank you for translating that! this is one of my all time favorite gogol songs and i've always wondered if i would ever find out what they were saying! you have made my fuckin' WEEK! thank you!
The accent isn't heavy, actually it's one of the cleanest voices I heard. Translated: "You're the girl that doesn't have soul, you have no soul. Come, girl, outside so the gypsies can see you." the refrain kicks in. "You are a girl,a good girl, which with me you don't play." and the refrain. The actual translation would make no sense as here they repeat some words, and invert them,in the second half of the proposition.
@Andrew301 So what? It doesn't change the fact that it's spelled wrong. It just proves that Gogol Bordello didn't inform themselves about the romanian language...
@drag0nfig0 I read in an article Hutz moved to Rio de Janeiro Brazil and he was talking about the scene being different. Samba-like. So I blame it on that. They lost the drummer too. I saw them in ATX and they had some new guy.
@ferdin12 because Roma aren't the only true gypsies...ask any sinti! and there are like 7 other ethnic groups that are commonly referred to by the name as well. Con Son?
Guys... Don't you see the irony in my posting? On the one hand you say it doesen't matter that Gogol B. use a wrong spelling and then on the other hand you critisize me for the same thing? *rolleyes* Of course I mean "write" and I hope you got my point now, that it's fucking important to write correctly, even if you use a foreign language!
great music, but hey guys: if you use a foreign language, please wright it correctly... o.O it's "tu esti fata" and not "tu jesty fata", for god's sake...
@Paramantus Eugene uses wordplay a lot... this might be a mistake but he might be making a pun, a statement, or something else... I don't know for certain in THIS case.. but that being said he does it an awful lot.
in this band we have : * Eugene Hütz - Ucraina * Serghei Ryabtsev -Rusia * Yuri Lemeshev - Rusia * Oren Kaplan - Israel * Thomas Gobena - Etiopia * Eliot Ferguson - SUA * Pamela Jitana Racine - SUA * Elizabeth Sun - Scotia, born from chinez parents * Pedro Erazo - Ecuador so... where is that romanian gyspy?? you see here? srry my bad english but when i see more ppl tell me : you are romanian, you are gypsy .... wtf?!?!? ppl gypsy come from india ;)
WHAAAAT I was not especting them to actualy sing romanian...tho they are not like the gypsies i know and see... il make a exception and not hate and despise.

Of course Google can't help you. I don't know what made you think that this is the way you spell in Romanian. Even "Tu jesty fata" is wrong. It's "Tu eşti fată" J isn't pronounced like the ee from speed in Romanian. Also, we use the letter y very rarely.

Luv this tune. Never gets old.
To me this is one of the best Gogol Bordello songs there is. I love it so much!

Try my buddies from Iasi, Romania.. They have a couple of videos here on RUclips. Name of the band is Sukar Nation. Good stuff.
The accent isn't heavy, actually it's one of the cleanest voices I heard.

There’s no actual accent, the female singers are Romanian.
Um...that "Romanian folk music" is Băieşi music, so it fits perfectly "with their gypsy style" since Băieşi are a branch of Romani.
em loop infinito na minha cabeça
lovely song, does the group do anymore like this? I usually listen to Gogol songs when I feel angry but this is a relaxing song
+blakespower Oh yes...Sun Is On My Side, Tribal Connection....tons more. Explore!
2 hours of sleep and still completely shitfaced, driving to work with a cigarette hanging from lip.....smiling from ear to ear.
this reminds me of the mountains for some reason
Dayum,,,, They are great day or night.... can't stop the east infection , GB Rules!
@Andrew301 So what? It doesn't change the fact that it's spelled wrong. It just proves that Gogol Bordello didn't inform themselves about the romanian language...
@drag0nfig0 I wouldn't doubt it. Have you heard the new cd? I can't get into it. Super Taranta and everything before that is amazing.
"You're the girl who doesn't have a soul"
all the univers, the voice all people and her head all connexion fuck the language, the best are give us all!
@drag0nfig0 I read in an article Hutz moved to Rio de Janeiro Brazil and he was talking about the scene being different. Samba-like. So I blame it on that. They lost the drummer too. I saw them in ATX and they had some new guy.

Tu esti fata care nare, nare nare suflet nare!
Does anyone know what the original song of the Roman part of the song is?
Any of you has any idea who sings the Romanian part? The name of the Romanian girl...
"man" is sometimes used to mean "human".
@bogdan0205 the term is Bodhisattva
yeah , happend to me too , it's never too late though :)
@Andrew301 you know that the romanian language is soo diferent in every latitudr right
@Andrew301 Considering they are not really Gypsy...it's probably a mistake on GB's part.
Sunt uimita de faptul ca am auzit romana in piesa asta
@Paramantus I don't really think it matters. We all came here to listen to good music so lets just listen to some good music.
@felipemanonegra Sir, this is ripped straight from the album and this is what it says on the back of the album.
@Paramantus Buy the CD and look on the back.
Isn't Gogol in the standard curriculum, being a world classic and all?
The thief Mazare form Romania bring me here :))

@TheFunkyBrain
Romani gypsy, not Romanian.. there's differentiation between the two. Learn it.. generally it's not wise to confuse the two.

the right way to write the title is "tu esti fata"
i'm romanian lol
@Paramantus It's spelled *criticize*

That's because it isn't in standard Romanian. The original song is in Boyash, which has this strange ortography.
@saranator Don't let the terrorists win! thumbs up!
You should do a collab with Eminem
@SearchingForBlood he said Roma, not Romanian.. there's a difference sucker.
sa nu exageram.
They aren't even ROMA, I don't understand how you can consider them gypsies...
