Don't ever, ever feel ashamed or embarrassed for caring for another human being. I found your sincerity endearing.. you were indeed blessed to have known him, he was one of the finest souls to grace this planet. Forever a fan
It is this kind of stories, this type of personal experiences that make someone understand how great (in every way) MJ was... John Landis, as an excellent director that he is, puts his own kind of magic into the stories he tells... amazing. Michael, you will never be forgotten. Wish there was some kind of way we could bring you back...
I can tell that John Landis really cared for Michael. Thank you John for sharing your experiences of what a sweet, caring, loving, brilliant man Michael was and how he touched everyone that knew him.
My love for Michael is something that I cant explain its not something that can be put in words RIP MICHAEL ❤❤❤😘....And I died thinking about how Mickeys head could've got stuck trying to get in the limo 😂😂😂😂 idk why im dying
I'm reading some of these comments and I don't get some of the hate John is getting. Yeah he says Michael is a little wacky, but he doesn't mean that in a demeaning way. You guys ever have that wacky friend or cousin or whatever and you think they're crazy but still love them? It's all affectionate. Yeah, Michael was a different kind of guy for sure, but thats kind of why I admire him. Average people are a little more on the boring side lol. and LOL at that Disney story, especially mickey mouse!
He also said ‘he was nuts’, which is not a nice thing to say. I think he could have worded it better. He also tried to sue Michael after he died. That’s why people aren’t happy with him.
Very very cute story of Michael and Mickey an I was really me laughing hard an I think this story made Michael look good an not bad... John Landis I wonder if John is still alive...
I'm a diehard MJ fan, but it's true, since he grew up composing/writing songs. no wonder he would act strange later on. Music was something he always loved but at the same time, for him it was a prison.
Mike was extra ordinary that is why he was different. Artists are not like us average people, they see the world in color that is why he was eccentric even in his dress code. A smart business man that on its own is brilliance, the fact that nobody can truly describe Mike is something out of this world. God's masterpiece , I am 33 years old from Southern Africa in a tiny kingdom called Swaziland but I can safely say I am in awe of him. He was beyond average, his gifts in human were heaven. Imagine being that gifted no my moonwalkers your life cannot be average
I think he actually liked MJ..IMO..i could be wrong, poor MJ was surrounded by all these hypocrites.. And awww even when they were surrounding them MJ was still so sweet, he was just the best....RIP MJ you will always be in my heart
I think people have been a little cheesed off at John Landis for jumping on the "Let's Sue MJ" train following his death, and I'll admit that's confused me, because John always struck me as a genuinely nice person who had a really great relationship with Michael.
"Michael was too grotesque to film" - John Landis 2013 “I went and met with him, and he asked me if I would do another film with him and he was so disfigured by then, it was so grotesque what he had done to himself,” Landis said from Los Angeles. “He had no nose! It was like the Phantom of the Opera! He wore a little (nose) piece. I was so horrified. You look at the cover of Off the Wall (his 1979 album): this was a good-looking guy!” “Just that self-loathing . . . he bleached his skin! He was a black guy when I met him! I found him such a tragic figure. I liked him, but I was heartbroken and truthfully I couldn’t figure out a way to shoot him (for a new film).” “They’re going to figure every way they can to get money out of that poor dead guy.” He also sued the estate and now he's doing Thriller 3D. Or as Landis himself said "get money out of that poor dead guy" www.thestar.com/entertainment/movies/2013/06/13/michael_jackson_too_grotesque_to_film_howell.html
MJ-rhythm-of-Love Exactly thanks for this, people here who are praising this snake are so stupid, I mean even in this interview he's calling him weird, wacky and all but in a soft manner so that no one understands what he's doing, sugar coating his jealousy in fake love. And everyone's getting fooled by him
Lost-in-Rhythm your absolutely right this guy is a fraud and also he would have jumped at the chance to work with mike again he prolly tried and was turned down
"He was nuts but very sweet". We, fans, have heard this already lots of times from the media. And ppl, like Landis, for instance, could ignore such epithets at least now, when Michael is not with us anymore, and because he (Landis) shared a wonderful time "being privileged working with Michael Lackson" for all that.
I love this xD I always remember when making Thriller John tickleling Mike's foot and Mike saying 'you did that yesterday' lolol Its fun being playful at any age xD ..LOVE..
I never appreciated it went Landis spoke about how Michael lived. He said how he went to MJ's house, back when they were doing Thriller, and he talked about how bizarre his bedrooom was, how he only had a mattress on the floor and toys all over the place. Like, there was no reason for him to air that. That's nobody's business. With him saying stuff like that, he's just adding to the controversy.
Mr. Landis there is no need for you to apologize for the loss you are feeling over Michael's death, we need more ppl like you to be honest and open your hearts over Michael. It is a tremendous loss to the world and I feel the loss everyday...Thank God all 3 of you made it out of Disney World unharmed....LOL
LMAOOOOOOOO!!!! What a funny story about Dinsney Land!!!! You know I was starting to get really pissed off at John Landis for the way he always talked about Michael after he passed. But after seeing this Im kinda having a change of heart. Its nice to see John showing some emotion because I always felt he was smiling a bit much when speaking about Michael. But now I understand that is him fighting back emotion. I miss Michael so much!! :'(
I love MJ and am still sad he's gone, but we all know he had some issues-and for some very explainable reasons. I think John Landis genuinely liked him, but he also recognized Michael's problems - which is a true friend! Maybe Landis offended Michael, but don't forget, MJ died owing Landis money. He was one of the first to be paid by the estate.
LMFAO--Oh gosh, what an AMAZING story about Disneyland, MJ was truly the best of artist in the world, probably the best the world has EVER had. John and Mickey will always remeber this >3 :')
Shit John, I love you for telling the story about Disneyland. And you seemed to work so well with Mike. But why do you keep saying he's weird, strange, nutty? Michael's dead and you keep saying these things. WHY? Who is he telling, who needs this affirmation exactly? Is it his kids? His family? The millions of fans across the globe? I used to respect him so much, but this is hurtful. I really don't get why he can't compliment him without demeaning him at the same time.
I don't think he means them demeaningly, I think he uses the terms in a fond way. You can tell he really loved Mike, with how upset he gets in this video talking about losing him. You know how you have that one ridiculous, weird friend whom you adore, but whom you don't quite get? Their life choices are eccentric and strange to you, and you can't really understand them, but that doesn't stop you from loving them. For John Landis, it seems he really didn't understand Michael at all. But that inability to understand him didn't stop him from caring for him... and I think that's a very wonderful thing.
It's great John is sharing his feelings for Michael. However, strange?? In what way? And 'death by celebrity'?? No John. At the hands of others? Privileged? Yes you were!! Very much so!! Thanks to the poster of this video.
@tybash No, your *comment* is not fair. He is not a killer, nor anyone else. It was an accident and nothing more. Accidents happen in life and sometimes they take people's lives; that is just the sad truth. Yes the scene was intense and it could be argued that children shouldn't have been in it, but, I can think of MANY intense, dangerous scenes kids have been in, in movies, so this is no different in that respect.
Landis needs to do some research or remember a little better. Michael most certainly was not 20 when they made Thriller. he was 20 when Off the Wall came out 4 years before that lol
I love John's sincerity he says things as they were! I like people who come out with the truth of who/what they really thought he was and about the man. Not those fake '' he was such a sweet, innocent guy...'' c'mon folks all the songs on Bad written by him are far from sweet and innocent. Not throwing shade but enjoy the talent and stop trying to convince others that someone who was weird and let you know he was, was an angel; It is disturbing!
@supermjjfan1 And that's what made MJ who he turned out to be. The world's most creative and talented musical genius we will ever see. You don't get that if you follow others. I know what you mean. People can't help sort of balancing out their compliments with a few cheap negative shots about how weird MJ was. Notice he doesn't give examples though?? Talking out of his arse. I liked him until I heard this!
Landis a big kid himself. I find him immature. Just look at him in the video..hes very dramatic. I can see why him & Michael worked together. Michael needed big kids around him, even as adults, he could be himself around them. God I miss him. ♡
I don't like him. Yes and it was very special and amazing to work with him cause he gave yaa lots of money.. Same Dang story over and over again. I want MJ back -3 my heart still aches for him and this makes me wondering who truly where his friends :(
I watch the making of thriller .I did not care for what I picked up on.Thats just me you are extremely wealthy. Why would you sue his estate after he died. Most people did not give a fuck about Michael. They did not appreciate his success as a Black person.Regardless of his looks. He is dead f them all.
He was a little weird. Anyone who says he wasn't is blinded by your own stupidity . I love mj, for 30 plus years. But even I can admit he was a little weird. He wanted people to talk about him, have his name in the headlines. Most of his career depended on the fact we thought he was a little strange. That way we would buy his music, watch award shows with him, just to see what he's gonna do next. He was a smart business man. He knew what he was doing.
People bought his music because he was go of music. for your information he brings more money per year than any alive artist to this day without promotion...
You are very confused, my friend. People bought his all-time best selling music because of the same reason as to why you would buy your favorite singer's songs. People watched his awards shows because we are talking about Michael fucking Jackson. Have you ever seen his award shows? It's truly one of the most remarkable, phenomenal, breath taking experience to see in person and on screen. Maybe that's why you personally listened to Michael, but you can not speak for anyone else. Saying you're a "fan" doesn't fool anyone. His award show performances and speeches were gold. The fact of the matter is - it's rather odd and ignorant to think that people supported Michael because he was "weird" and they only cared to see all the "weird" things he's up to. If anything, the media-fabricated "weirdness" is literally what led people AWAY from MJ. You're completely oblivious to who he was and the good he stood for as a person, and as an icon. The King of Pop, the legendary dancer, the best selling artist in the history of music, the person who ultimately broke racial boundaries in the music industry, filmed the legendary and groundbreaking short films of Thriller, Black or White, Remember the Time, etc etc etc. The most notable celebrity / humanitarian to donate his entire career to charity, etc. He wasn't "weird" at all, actually. The media manipulated every single aspect of his life and exaggerated every simple event he took part in. Being a fan of 30+ years obviously shows that you didn't catch on to the fake persona portrayed. If anything, you only knew the media's outlook on him. We must never forget that the "Wacko Jacko" persona was PURELY MEDIA-CREATED. Let that sink in.. All that you think you know about "Jacko" was all a cash move. And you fell for it! Michael was such a genuine soul, seeing the world so differently. He truly saw the world through love and innocence, such a unique point of view we're unfortunately no longer used to. He was such appalled by the magic and art sense of world ; to surprise and totally going in the opposite direction of what you thought. We should all cherish these rare people who think so differently, rather than shame them because of our fear and jealousy. Loving, caring, sweet, innocent, funny, all of the things that are sadly deemed as "weird" to find in the people of the music industry, we're just not used to it. Many people could not stand the fact of Michael Jackson having it all, and that's what it all comes down to.
Yes, he was weird. But that doesn't mean he was a "bad man". Weird isn't always negative; MJ was weird in both positive and negative ways, just like the rest of us. If you're not humble enough to see that MJ was just like you and me, but with a different life, upbringing and situation, just like the rest of us, then you're the one who's bad. I'm not saying it to you personally; I'm just making a point. I certainly see your point; he DID play with his eccentricies alot, and he did certainly embrace the weirdness, no doubt about that. My point is that his eccentricies weren't always negative, and that him being weird in reality is just like the rest of us. I do not agree with the fans that will praise him for every little thing he did in his life and defend him from any negative saying ever no matter what like he was some kind of "god"; but at the same time I do not agree with those who will make a big deal out of MJ's flaws and eccentricies and make mean-spirited fun of him like he was some kind of "wacko", because he was all in all just a good man with a big heart and talent, and a human with his flaws and eccentricies, just like the rest of us. :)
Don't ever, ever feel ashamed or embarrassed for caring for another human being. I found your sincerity endearing.. you were indeed blessed to have known him, he was one of the finest souls to grace this planet. Forever a fan

I can tell that John Landis really cared for Michael. Thank you John for sharing your experiences of what a sweet, caring, loving, brilliant man Michael was and how he touched everyone that knew him.
Very, very cute story of Michael and Mickey. Really had me laughing. I think this story made Michael look good, not bad.
I believe him and Michael were good friends and enjoyed each others humor.
My love for Michael is something that I cant explain its not something that can be put in words RIP MICHAEL ❤❤❤😘....And I died thinking about how Mickeys head could've got stuck trying to get in the limo 😂😂😂😂 idk why im dying
John is insane, love it :D

This made me cry :'( John Landis is such a good guy.... one of the very few people associated with Michael that would never take advantage of him.
What a hell of a story about the Mickey Mouse incident!!!! Micheal is a true legend.
Memories of him never been forgoten

@@onefineday111 when you have giraffe money and you can live comfortably after buying that giraffe, you are nuts!
this is touching, you always see John Landis smiling and laughing, but you know, its his way to be :) he's a wonderful person

*MUFFLED* HOLY FUCKING SHI-
That story was 2 funny!
lol it is ilarious when he discribed micky friking out

Why does he keep saying mike was 20. Michael was already in his mid 20's (25) at the end of 83' when the "Thriller" video was made/released.
Cocoafloats he meant “a twenty something”
Landis needs to do some research or remember a little better. Michael most certainly was not 20 when they made Thriller. he was 20 when Off the Wall came out 4 years before that lol
Exactly, was thinking the same..I was like he was 23 or 24.
mj lives he was emotional..so he got the age wrong lol
Calm down Geeez! He’s just giving an approximate lol
tHE MOST HISTORICAL THING lANDIS HA EVER DONE...pROBABLY DONE 600 INTERVIEW RE IT MINIMALLY...SO TO NOT KNOW THE AGE IN THAT CONTEXT IS RIDICULOUS.
It’s really not a big deal to be fair. Don’t take things too seriously
so.its not just me.Never thought he had love for Michael.
I love John's sincerity he says things as they were! I like people who come out with the truth of who/what they really thought he was and about the man. The Disney story is hilarious even though I don't particularly care for landis.
hahahah the mickey interpretation!!
AHAHAH! He is hilarious!
HE calls hlm wacky shame on you john.
Michael Jackson wasn't 20 when you he made Thriller. He was older.
🧚🏻♂️❤️
Landis a big kid himself. I find him immature. Just look at him in the video..hes very dramatic. I can see why him & Michael worked together. Michael needed big kids around him, even as adults, he could be himself around them. God I miss him. ♡
The killer has emotions.
@tall32guy
I agree, they can't talk about it either, they're dead.
I don't like him. Yes and it was very special and amazing to work with him cause he gave yaa lots of money.. Same Dang story over and over again. I want MJ back -3 my heart still aches for him and this makes me wondering who truly where his friends :(
I believe he was paid by the estate.
1:52 Why emotionally stunted? That's such a weird thing to say! He was like a little old man when he was 10! How could he be emotionally stunted?
@tall32guy
I agree. Sadly the victims cannot speak.
@tybash Not fair. Not at all...
I watch the making of thriller .I did not care for what I picked up on.Thats just me
you are extremely wealthy. Why would you sue his estate after he died. Most people did not give a fuck about Michael. They did not appreciate his success as a Black person.Regardless of his looks. He is dead f them all.
@supermjjfan1 Really? Are you serious?
He was a little weird. Anyone who says he wasn't is blinded by your own stupidity . I love mj, for 30 plus years. But even I can admit he was a little weird. If anything, the media-fabricated "weirdness" is literally what led people AWAY from MJ. You're completely oblivious to who he was and the good he stood for as a person, and as an icon.

We should all cherish these rare people who think so differently, rather than shame them because of our fear and jealousy.

I really really dislike John Landis. REALLY.
