John Landis loved Michael. He doesn't say he was weird in a bad way. He means Michael was different, and of course he was. He didn't have an upbringing by the norm all the phases of his life were all over the place instead of in the normal order. That's doesn't take away from the fact that he was an angel to many people and an exceptional human being, let alone a musical genius.

I love hearing great stories abt Michael, I can't imagine his life growing up, I believe it was a dream an nightmare at the same time but he didn't change from being humble an caring, an besides being the King of Pop an the greatest entertainer an business smart, he never lost the good qualities abt him like alot in the music industry. He may be gone but he'll Never be Forgotten...

correction... landis said michael started performing at the age of 8. that's incorrect. michael was Famous by the age of 8. He actually started performing at the age of 5 with his brothers. Granted, he wasn't famous yet but i believe michael said shortly after his joining they started appearing in talent shows around Chicago and performing in clubs. Either way, he was working since the age of 5.

I agree with you individualist Michael absolutely was a prisoner of his own fame. His life and what he had to deal with was unlike any other star on the planet. Some people view him as weak or fragile, but I believe he had a emotional and spiritual strength within him that was iron clad...I think he was certainly paranoid at times...who wouldnt be under those circumstances..he was trusting and he actually cared about people which left him vulnerable. The bigger the star the bigger the target

Yeah he also called him grotesque and disfigured among many other horrible things in another interview in 2013. I think he got tired of questions about Michael Jackson after this one to the point of pretty disgusting jealousy. Pretty douchey guy even here. He's really trying hard to emphasise that he made thriller the big deal that it was.. as if the story in thriller was what made it so good.

I am a huge fan but Michael ALWAYS was strange, in almost everything he did, onstage the guy as a masterclass genius performer, like landis said he grew up doing 4 shows a day and working lounges in vegas, that forged the genius in him, but it also screwed him up, big time. TBH even without the fame MJ would have bee a strange cat. As far as I see it landis burst into tears when talking about MJs death so I am sure at first during Thriller when MJw as younger he was not as insane, yet as he aged his behaviors got odder. I know the stans you speak and they scare me. I like John and his ability to care for MJ but also with his ability to level with you.

Hey, don't we all have that one friend who we think is a little nutty, but it just makes you love them even more? MJ and Landis definitely had different artistic tastes, though. Landis seems like a control freak and self-absorbed, because he had a similar attitude about Eddie Murphy between when they did Trading Places and when they did Coming To America, the latter of which was also one where it wasn’t Landis that was in charge. It’s quite telling because the Thriller short and Coming To America and the Black Or White short were successes for Landis during a time where his career was really hanging by a thread between the movies he had made that flopped and more importantly, the Twilight Zone movie accident.

I see what you mean! 'At the trial, the defense claimed that the explosions were detonated at the wrong time. Randall Robinson was an assistant cameraman on board the helicopter, and he testified that production manager Dan Allingham told Wingo, "That's too much. Let's get out of here," when the explosions were detonated, but Landis shouted over the radio: "Get lower... lower! Get over [lower]!" Robinson said that Wingo tried to leave the area, but that "we lost our control and regained it and then I could feel something let go and we began spinning around in circles."[14] Stephen Lydecker, also a camera operator on board, testified that Landis had earlier "shrugged off" warnings about the stunt with the comment "we may lose the helicopter."[15] Lydecker acknowledged that Landis might have been joking when he made the remark, but he said: "I learned not to take anything the man said as a joke. It was his attitude. He didn't have time for suggestions from anybody."[16]'

Mainly that Jackson was in charge of it and Landis’ role was mainly to make Jackson look the best he could. I’m sure Jackson was more flexing his power by that time. It is obvious Landis liked to be in charge of his projects.

Everyone likes to feed off Michael Jackson. If Michael wasn't Michael, John wouldn't be as well known as he is, so like Quincy Jones, he seems to like to take more credit than he deserves. What a braggart. You can tell he doesn't like any of the questions posed to him about Michael -- he knows the camera's on him, and wants to freak out -- "Me! Me! Me!" -- as he solidified off the top of the interview. Look, Landis, people want to hear about Michael. Everyone watching this video (or at least 99%) are here because they want to know about Michael. Please don't be so jealous. God knows how to divide talent; people are so egotistical.

Idiot John!I mean of course he was not afraid of the mob like John! Because he went through this situation all his life!😂 If he was always feel terrified like John, he would probably die at the age of 30! It's more wierd if he reacted with the mob just like a normal person!😂
