    I believe the wobble is a defect on the specific embody chair you received. It took my body about 3 weeks to adjust to the embody. I had discomfort and pain to my lower back when sitting on the embody initially. I adjusted the seat so I had a 2 finger gap between my legs and the seat. The discomfort got to the point where I wanted to return the chair. Good thing I stuck it out and it's the best office chair I ever owned. I owned a herman miller aeron remastered prior to the embody. I feel like they are both about the same when it comes to ergonomics but the embody just gives you way more play and freedom to move around when sitting. You don't have the same freedom with the aeron based on the plastic and mesh design but the aeron is still a great chair. I would recommend taking advantage of the 30 day return policy herman miller offers. 1 weeks is not enough time to try out the chair and make a final conclusion in my honest opinion.

    I get why the Embody gets lots of high praise, but when I tried it myself, I found the backrest and seat way too thin and uncomfortable. I much prefer full mesh seats like the Aeron or the ErgoTune Supreme V3/Hinomi H1 Pro in Singapore. But great honest review man!

    I have to agree with you man… I’ve had the regular embody for a couple years, busted out my old leap V2 for fun and it made me realize the Embody causes me A LOT of pain, particularly in the lower back. I also hate how it makes my shoulders feel. Might buy another Aeron again, or try a Fern

  • @vikingsfan2218
    @vikingsfan2218 Год назад +25

    The extra padding on the lumbar/lower spine region of your Embody is exclusive to the *Logitech* gaming version of the chair. If you get the regular version of the Embody, it doesn't have that extra padding and many people find it far more comfortable. The extra padding is designed to promote a more upright posture and provide more lumbar support while leaning forward in the chair (like most people do while gaming intensely), but it can become uncomfortable over time if you sit normally. The two chairs are 95% the same, but the difference is enough that I've heard people say that the Gaming version of the Embody caused them back pain and the regular Embody fixed it.
    I have the Logitech Embody right now and I'm considering exchanging it for the regular Embody because the I'm noticing the same slight discomfort in the lumbar region that you mentioned. It wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker for me if the regular Embody didn't exist, but the price difference isn't enough to make me accept the compromise.

      I can concur. I tried the Logitech Embody one, but replaced it with a regular one. It's been six months now and I would never want another chair. Recently received the Atlas headrest (Herman Miller should've really given the Embody a headrest) and it's super relaxing to lounge in it now.

    • @formulaic78
      @formulaic78 10 месяцев назад +1

      Hmm. This explains a lot. I tried both in the store and immediately preferred the gaming one because backrest was cushier (plus I liked the gaming colour scheme). But after sitting in it for longer I discovered the lumbar thing sticks into my lower back too much. I can't return the chair, so now have a blanket over the backrest. Even with this I can still feel it! I have also tried to sit more upright as ergonomists advise without your shoulder blades touching the seat back and the lumbar support on the chair is great for that; it's only when you lean back that it becomes an uncomfortable lump, which is exactly what you described.

    • @Drzzlt

      @@Droskee650 I did but I’m unfortunately returning it. In recent weeks I’ve also tested out all the Herman Miller chairs as well. The Embody was nice, but a bit underwhelming for my personal back support needs (I was much more impressed by the Mirra 2 w/ butterfly mesh). That said I’m going back to my trusty Steelcase Leap for good.
      Reasons the Fern didn’t work out for me:
      1. The seat material was way too harsh. I work in shorts so it was like sitting on hay.
      2. The arm rests aren’t flat like Steelcase, and they lean back with the chair. I knew this going into it, but didn’t realize how much I’d dislike it.
      3. The front of the seat pan isn’t very flexible and that led to some knee pain

    Foam roll before and after on your quads and piriformis. Lookup foam rolling techniques. I have the exact by description, your same issue and this was a game changer. First thing in the AM, hit it. Flare up in the lower back, hit it. You'll be amazed in how after 5-10 minutes, gone. Get a stiff foam roller but not the one with the large spikes. At least not yet.
    In regards to the chair, 9 months have past so you're probably done. I'd say try out the Logitech Gaming Embody version if the cost is ok. It's much, not too much but yeah, better than the normal embody.

    Im in the same position. Its a very good chair but has to much flaws for me. Most of them are similiar to yours.
    - Its noisy. On that part where u expand the size of the seat. Also the armrests have some spots where they make noises.
    - The lumbar support is a little to aggressive for my taste, i cant adjust it directly. If i lean back with my shoulders more then the lumbar is even more aggressive.
    - Also i feel a little pressure under my legs sometimes.
    I got a 800€ used Aeron fully equiped and am happy now. Feels like sitting on a cloud and zero noise. Also better armrests.
    The embody could be the best chair for me if i could adjust more stuff especially the lumbar part.

  • @slvrization
    @slvrization Год назад

    I couldn't use Embody because of the upper side of the backrest curve. It is just not comfortable at all around my shoulder blades - the hard edges with that inward curve at the top are way too pronounced. It is even worse when reclining in the chair. Logitech version is truly horrible, OMG that plastic noise - often mentioned in the review too, but more like "no big deal". LOL no, it is actually a big deal cause it is noisy AF. Additional cushion on the backrest also ruins the purpose of the chair entirely - they want you to sit in exactly ONE position and even that does not work on Logitech version very well.
    People shorter than me (I am 6"1) are also out of luck here; you correctly mentioned that the retracted seat adds pressure to your thighs (GL with varicose when you are older). It is actually the same issue as with Mirra 2. And Cosm. Surprisingly, it is not the case with Aeron.
