The last tip was a life saver. One time i was inspecting the sharp edges when suddenly a wild brother appeared and push me fortunately it broke in advance.
The main things you also want to avoid are cutting with the tip of the blade, and cutting the thick sprue rather than the gate. There are instructional videos by God Hand where they show someone doing these things and the nipper breaks within a few cuts.
As an extra step you might consider putting a small amount of oil in the sheath that way it’s stored in oil. It can be WD 40 or any kind of clear oil will do. I’ve used fishing reel oil and it works well.
If you're not gonna use them for a while I find that vaseline provides longer lasting protection than wd40 which evaporate at some point. Obviously a silicone based wd40 lube will do exactly that but I was in a pinch so I whipped out the jelly... the petroleum jelly! I also saved some Xacto blades from rusting away after barely any use.
frostedsnow yeah, I hear ya. That’s why I use it on nippers and blades only. You wipe it off with a paper towel and your good to go. I use a cotton swab to apply a thin coat so it’s never too gunky when I store them back.
You gotta get the Godhand Oil to go with them and then if your a true Godhand fan, then you need the nipper rack to hold them all 😂👍🏼 red pair for 1st cut, blue for the finish and dont cut with the tip! :). However, I just finally got the oil, before that I used to use barber clipper oil 💈
This right here! I picked up some of the GH nipper maintenance oil when I was in Tokyo last summer. It's great for keeping them lubricated, plus it's corrosion resistant. shop.godhandtool.com/shopdetail/000000004528/ct412/page1/order/
For the longest time, I have been using a wire cutter for my modeling kits. (yes, those wire cutters meant for electronic work) I just got myself a GIC 2.0 nippers, and it is a complete revelation! It's not a Godhand, but the GIC 2.0 works alot better at giving me a smooth cut.
I bought a spraying bottle of Ustar UA-90104 to clean my nippers, it turned out it was the same as RP7 (similar to WD-04) which was already available at my house. P/S: the G-Temple GT-02 is a decent cheaper clone of SPN-120.
Nice! So many different options. Never heard of the G-temple nippers. Interesting that it's a Japanese product. Thought it'd be a Chinese knock-off. It does look very similar!
@@frostedsnow IIRC this GT-02 nipper is made in Taiwan. G-Temple brand does seem like "underground". Maybe it's just a small brand for Japanese market. You can find it on taobao too.
Hey, do you know how to remove spring noises from the ultimate nipper? One of my ultimate nipper was brand new but no matter how much i lube it, it still have that spring sound.
I finally convinced myself to cough up the extra cash for a pair of GodHand Ultimate nippers and I was so scared of the maintenance but it's very comforting to see that good old trusty WD-40 is good enough even for the esteemed GodHand nippers :')
Hi. One question. Is it ok if i sand my rusted nipper with sandpaper? It seem to scrape the rust away but is it ok or it will somehow break the nipper? Idk honestly. Please..
I'm really lazy so I do it only when the rust gets kinda bad T__T You should do it before you start seeing rust. That'll probably differ a bit for everyone, but every few months? It doesn't hurt it anyways if you do it more often than absolutely necessary. My brand new nippers came rusty :/
from my experience the nipper hardly get rusty when you use it a lot :) well, it also depends on your environment. And you should do this maintenance before you take a long break from building, because spraying this liquid on your nipper is the same as "coating" it to protect it from humidity.
My Godhands broke bfr they could get dull. My other nippers are only for rough cuts so I don't need them sharp... never heard of anyone sanding nipper blades though!
I’ve had my god hands for about 2 months and used them one time and they have a little rust. I think I looked at them for to long in the 15 min I had them out 🤦
A butterfly in Uganda flapped his wings, and the air molecule that moved through the air touched my God Hand nipper and it shattered the tip. Say hello to Cookie! Good tips here, I will use WD40 tonight on my Tamiya fine tips, thanks!
On a side note, I think the God hand nips are kind of overrated and expensive for what they are imo. That being said, the other god hand tools are supreme stuff! I’ve been purchasing some of the their tools lately, like the spin blades and ultimate cutter.
@@thebigbient8736 Don't get me wrong, they are excellent nippers, but for the price and the risk of breaking them is just too high to marginally cut better than a more robust pair of Tamiya gold tips ;)
How do you clean your nippers? Are you a Godhand addict (and murderer) like me?
That was hilarious when you said don't breathe don't even look at them 😂

Wd-40 is solvent like mineral spirits and mineral oil. Use something like clp or penetrating oil to take off rust.

Hi. One question. Is it ok if i sand my rusted nipper with sandpaper? It seem to scrape the rust away but is it ok or it will somehow break the nipper? Idk honestly. Please..
I don't think it'll break it depends on how heavy you sand. but you can get rid of the rust without sanding it
I usually avert my eyes when clipping the parts off the runner cuz well im afraid that nubs will take over my eye
I guess I could give it a try.
Question, how often do these type of maintenance on the clippers? (say on avg building 3-4 kits per month)
