    I'm going to tell you what..... I've owned Streamlight, SureFire, Maglight, etc..... the best bang for the buck has to be the Streamlight. You guys make a ..... of a product. Really well done.

    I just received my "Streamlight 88077 ProTac HPL USB" yesterday and love it. My son is a Police Officer and he told me about it. LOVE it.!!!

      Just got the ProTac 2L-X and love it.. was using 4AA at work and have a microstream usb which is an awesome little light

      @@StreamlightTV - You're welcome. A lot of flashlight companies [claim] their Lumens output is much higher than what it really is but yours is definitely 1000 Lumens.

    What really helps is putting some kind of medium under the button like cardboard or foam to fix the inconsistent squishiness of the button. Open the cap and screw out the white nylon part holding the spring to get under the button to do this. Why Streamlight hasn't fixed this problem is wild. I've had to do this to the majority of my Streamlight flashlights to get them to work right.

      I know right? I've been running mine on high only cause programming seemed to not work, but I look up a video and now I've got it in Low->High, much better. Doesn't blind me when I need to use it close up, better for battery life, its perfect.

    Mine use to do the flashing thing but now it doesn’t , is because my battery maybe lower ? Need to change batteries?

    I must be doing something wrong. Of course when you have this multi-mode (yes, mine is a Streamlight️), when you start this tap procedure, it goes dim-bright, dim-bright repeatedly. When I get to the 10th tap and either hold the soft tap or make it click, nothing has changed afterwards. Also if I've assumed 10 taps, then hold it on soft tap on the 11th, nothing has changed. What am I not doing correctly? I'm currently using mine as an AR weapon mounted light for home defense and so removing it is a tad fidgety. But I've done this process three times and no change. One thing I did notice from another Streamlight️ video is that mine is possibly only a dual mode. I haven't seen it strobe yet. So far I've only seen low/high, alternately. First tap, low. Second tap, high. I'd told myself and practiced a bit, quickly soft tapping once so that the next tap would be full beam, but discovering this Ten Tap, I'd hoped that I could bypass the low beam altogether. 😑. So far, no change. I guess I'll have to remove the light to see precisely which unit I have so I can look at the instructions online. That is unless someone has a tip.

      If the button isn't consistently working with general use then it's not connecting each time during the 10 tap process and can't program correctly. If it is the button, trying putting something under the button like cardboard to make it more consistent. Way cheaper than replacing the cap.

    Thanks, I couldn't get mine to strobe. Took me about 10 tries to get back to factory setting. Mine is a Strion DS HPL and also have a Strion DS HL. The HL doesn't seem as bright as the HPL, the HL has more of a warm light. Both 700 Lumens on high.

    Does the PROTAC HL-X or the POLYTAC X have the option for HIGH, LOW, STROBE? That’s what I was hoping to change it to. Otherwise, these are dependable lights I can trust 👍

    I have the Stinger DS LED HL flashlight. Not sure what's going on with it. When I press either the tail cap switch or the other switch, the light does nothing but flash. The first flash is really bright and then the flashes after that are dimmer. I've tapped each switch 10 times and held down the switch and still nothing different. Is there an SOS mode it may be stuck in?. Thank you. Love your product. I've been using it for 20+ years.

    Having issues getting past the strobe setting… it won’t go back to bright and stays on low. Any attempt to switch it with ten tap it just strobes at the end

    I have the ten tap and recently discovered this video although I've never had any issues with my flashlight or its function. I recently noticed the brightness is less bright and even noticed a blue tinge to the light, hence my search on youtube & this comment. I tried the reset method & although it resets, the brightness remains the same with the blue tinge & does not appear to have a high or low, more like low/strobe only. This has never happened before, does it need a replacement battery or bulb? Please let me know at your earliest convenience. Thank you.

    I have the Strion DS HL. I liked the default setting of high, medium and low with double tap for strobe. It just started high beam only. Have tried the 10 tap multiple times. I held it on the 10th and it flashed twice and shut off. Still it does only high beam. Any help would be very much appreciated. Ive had this less than 1 year. thank you

      Hey thank you, I kept at it. Got it back to default. My DS HL is a bit different than the one in the video. Very much appreciate you guys helping me out. I love these flashlights. Retired now and still have my strion from the 2000's as well as the original Ultrastinger. I have the new Ultrastinger LED, Strion DS HPL and this Strion DS HL. I give them out as gifts and every one that receives them are so surprised how easy it can make life. Whether looking for something in the dark or for security at home, on road trips or walking your dog after dark.

    How do I set it for continuous light?

      You should just click once for a continuous beam, the TEN-TAP allows for controlling if that beam is low or high modes. Please contact customer service for questions with your model: 800-523-7488

      Depending on your flashlight, most with an end cap should click to give you continuous light. If this applies to your flashlight, then it's most likely a bad button. Which is normal for Streamlight.

      This video discusses our Ten-Tap Programming which is on several of our lights, rechargeable or standard battery. The model he uses in the video (ProTac HL) uses two 3V CR123A batteries.

    i have 3 lights with the ten tap programming, literally a breeze after you learn how to program and it’s literally a series of soft presses on the button, i have all of mine programmed for high output only, simply on and off, i have to reprogram each for low or strobe on the second soft press of the tail switch... after being extremely bored one night resetting the output pattern and charging batteries i realized there’s multiple combinations of sequences, after that i started counting and after 60 soft presses total per light they now work as on/off switches with high only. to the ones who can’t figure it out, repeat to yourself “i’m being defeated by a flashlight”

      My late uncle used to always say he wanted all of his flashlights to have two modes, "Really Fucking Bright and Off". Streamlight provides that with Ten-Tap. I love it and so did he.

      Ten-Tap allows for 3 program choices: High-Strobe-Low (Factory Default), High Only
      or Low-Medium-High, so, unfortunately, no strobe as default. If you need help setting yours - give our customer service team a call at 800-523-7488

    Program 3 is just the same as program 1 for me. It does not start on low, it only starts on high.

    Is there a way to reset this flashlight? Out of the box mine would not change modes as documented and shown in this video. On the tenth press and hold the light does not turn off. It switches from high to low and stays on. When pressing the switch on, the action is now random. More infuriating when it does switch on in high, it goes into low power by itself without a press of the button.

      Oh hey! Sheesh! I swear the only companies who give a damn about customers these days are gun and gun parts or outdoor companies. Uh so yea, I bought it “used” new, second hand... Is there still hope? I just figured I had imagined it strobed cause I coulda sworn it worked the first few day and then poop. Hey, THANKS!

    Can you imagine trying to do this bullshit in combat? The Ten-Tap is crap. The Streamlights themselves are great lights. I got a number of Surefire as well as Streamlights. But the Ten-Tap is garbage. Hate it.

    I bought the slightly smaller one, the Protac 2L yesterday and the included "instructions" are pathetic due to using the term "tap" so I searched for it on RUclips. This explanation video by the manufacturer is also very poorly and inadequately explained. The problem is the so-called "tap." You don't "tap" the button, you depress it slightly, enough to make the beam flash on with each partial press and that is not a "tap." This company does not seem to understand the definition of the word "tap" and that is the cause of the confusion over how to get this thing to work. I suspect that many of these have been returned because people have been "tapping" the button, as per the instructions, and that does absolutely nothing. You have to partially press the button, much like you do with the shutter release button on a camera to get it to focus, and the partial press makes the light come on. Pressing it like this is not a "tap!" Tapping this thing does nothing. So, to change modes, you partially press the button 9 times in a row, (not enough however to click to the "ON" switch) making the light come on each time, with 0.4 of a second between each partial press. At the 10th partial press, you HOLD the button in, partially pressed, until the light goes off. The mode is then changed. You repeat these steps to cycle through each mode.

    Sorry, but this doesn't work for my ultra stinger led nor my HL-5X. Will not go off odf the factory default h,m,l (ultra stinger led) . Recently bought the ProTac HL 5-X and it will not program off the high only (blinding) occasionally goes to strobe. Called customer support and they told me to make sure my batteries are fully charged and it should program fine after that. Also told me that my ultrastinger led is not 10 tap programable (despite the fact that it is literally written on the fashlight below the switch). Batteries are fully charged on both and still the programming doesn't function properly. Customer support definitely not as bright as these flashlights :-) Tap 10 programming is garbage.
