I think it will work for me but is there anyone who tried any data recovery app after this method and got no data.... If so, then this man deserves all the love and blessings.... 😢
Thank you, Brian. Just purchased a new phone and Samsung bought my old phone. I was worried about my data being exposed but your video assures me it won't be.
What if you did not know any of this and have already done the factory reset thinking that would remove all of you data from the old phone. Can you still securely erase your data?
Curious if running this for a few dozen passes would damage a phones onboard storage chip. As far as I know drives of any kind have a max TBW (Terebites written) before they corrupt and cause issues.
Hey Brian unfortunately I seen ur video after I factory reset my phone with my original data in it... my question is can I still do the same thing u did and will it work or its too late now because I already reset my phone ?
Thanks! I followed all the steps then did a factory reset to add another layer of protection. Does Samsung already encrypt data and if not, which programs have the best privacy policies in jurisdictions like California or the EU with effective privacy laws such as CCPA and EU GDPR?
Shreddit doesnt really work! I filmed some videos and took photos for test purposes. Even after a few runs of Shreddit i could still see all photos and videos
Very good video of how to erase all your data. My Question is this. How you back up your data to a flash drive or to an external hard drive? thanks for your help.
Sorry, I am a bit confused, and some clarification would be greatly appreciated. By downloading and using the shredded application mentioned before doing the reset to factory settings, you ensure an extra layer of security to the phones data that's going to be deleted, so that it cant be restored by an unwanted person back to the phone. The question is: by doing this would I still be able to restore my backed up data to a different phone or the same phone for that matter after I get it back from repairs being performed on it?, or would that step make it so the data can no longer ever be restored not even by me ? Sorry for the long message, and I hope i am making sense
The second option (wipe empty space) is for that issue. It will also wipe and overwrite empty spaces as well (empty spaces are just your files, you have deleted them so they become empty space for next files... But since you haven't used the space it means they are not over written and still there... They can be recovered)
Depends how much you value your personal data like photos and other personal information. Factory reset does not wipe these completely from the drive. People can use data recovery software to recover these images
Sir does this app completely erase all the data? Did you try any data recovery app and found no data there? Please answer, it's very important to me @@Britec09
Question - if you delete data by regular delete functionality on Android device then use the German 7 pass method for Empty Free Space using Shreddit will that mean the deleted data is now untraceable as it has been overwritten in empty space?
If you do a factory reset first, you have to still sign into your Google account on the phone. Otherwise, you can not download Shreddit from the Play store. I bought a used phone from eBay, which I am returning. I did a reset, but the phone is still in my Google account. I found this video while searching how to remove the device from my Google account. Even after signing out of Google account on the phone, it is still listed as a trusted device. So, I'm trying this app, and I'll go from there.
only do it on SD card if you use this to erase free space on your phone storage after time it will upset your phone it will start opening up apts & not being responsive etc
Excellent, if you know of a way to legally remove the bloatware apps without jailbreaking the device it would be truly appreciated. I absolutely hate that we all pay a lot of money for these devices and can't control the extra apps they put on them. Have a wonderful day and thank you for the video. :-)

Is running running "Wipe data/factory reset" from Android Recovery the same thing as "Factory data reset" from within the OS? I have had any success finding definitive information on that.
Here is my question. I have to transfer my data on. my old phone to my new phone and then send the old phone back to the carrier. I am going to be using Samsung Smart Switch to do the transfer instead of using my Google account to transfer the data. now do I do the data erasing on the old phone after I transfer the data? the reason why I ask is because I noticed you said to backup the data before doing the erasing. my last question is since I am sending the old phone back to the carrier can I still use the encryption method instead of the data erasing method or does it not matter. I know the carrier still need to access the phone and I don't know of the encryption method bocls anyone from able to use the phone etc... Cheers!
How do I keep information on my new phone when deleting from my old phone? I accidentally deleted my contacts from my new one, when I deleted them from my old one. Sue
Brian would this cover any software that say the police would use to recover data? Not that I have anything to hide but some watching this video would be very interested to know.
I thought android was factory encrypted now chance of anyone getting anything after factory reset is essentially zero, and the fact it's ssd nand memory if enough time has passed garbage collection will of ran and deemed any deleted files unreadable and unrecoverable as it zeros out the deleted blocks. People are still living in 1992 when we believed data is permantly in existence regardless or deleting and overwriting. If enough time has past and fresh information has been stored in the phone like new apps, photos videos etc no one is ever recovering the data that's been erased.
Is it possible to delete the old updates on an android phone? These updates are filling up my space on the phone. Is it possible to clear some of those updates out?

It's always advisable to unlock your phone before selling it. It's worth more money. If it's unlocked, you can contact your carrier and they will unlock your phone
Should I do this if I buy a used phone too? Might wanna protect the original user. I am probably "not" tempted to dig after old data. xD Never trust anyone or even my family.
That is a valid point. Who knows what's been on that phone previously. Might be wise to erase the data on there before you give it to the person you bought it for
