Let’s not gloss over the fact that the T-1000 was actually making the beef stew, which is hilarious really.
He has detailed files.
Probably poisoned it though just in case John came back to eat and it left lol
"Your foster parents are dead"
'Calmly walks away'
he didn't like them anyway
"That's rough buddy." -Another master of empathy.
Empathy is tough to get from a robot, sadly.
That line is just flat out devastating.
It may not be once AI advances to the point of sentience. And becomes of aware of its own possible end of existence and then understanding the desire to live and the rarity of life as well as its value
“Of course, I’m a Terminator.”
For a killing machine, that actually came off as sarcasm
John quickly learns that having a pet Terminator comes with grave responsibility.
best comment ever
The T-800 already learns things too ! This is Why I assume J.Cameron deleted the cpu switch scene because it does not add up : the T-800 can't learn he must not kill people without having the order each time ! Moreover if he was sent by resistance of course the CPU is already switched to learning state.
@@jemlesvideo no the cpu turn made complete sense as he self terminates even tho john tells him not to.
@@Jebu911 What did I say ? I said that it's obvious he was sent already switched. Moreover even unswitched no way he would have let himself continuing to exist as mission completed or failed he has no purpose to continue existing ( as he stated ) and that it's existence compromise the future too. It's a core feature.
"of course, i'm a terminator" 🤣
The T-800 learned a great lesson from John that makes the deleted cpu switch scene not adding up at all : Because basically the T-800 can't learn value of life at that point with it's Skynet base program.
If the resistance sent him, that makes sense if they already switched the CPU.

"This does not help our mission" while looking left and right was just the perfect robot thing to do at that moment.
Instead of hanging up the phone on the T-1000, the T-800 should have continued the ruse in John's voice and said something like "Great, I'll be there in an hour" or something to that effect. That way the T-1000 would waste some time waiting, buying the T-800 and John some valuable time to escape to safety.
In the Sarah Connor Chronicles, it is hinted that some Terminators have the ability to trace landlines. I figure Arnold didn't want to risk the T-1000 finding their location so he hung up.
Good point.
Or it’s possible that the fact it is in default settings that didn’t occur to it. It thought that there was an enemy and then disconnected. As basic logic would suggest to do.

If it occured to it to come up with the rather brilliant "wolfie" lie/trick, I am sure it could realize that it should say he's coming home as a way to continue the lie.

4:11 Sarah is an amazing character. She heard that a new Terminator is here to kill her son and that his foster parents are dead and he is missing and instead of panicking or having a mental breakdown she is calculated in her plan to escape. She knows it's now or never to save her son.
You know the irony is that if she had cooperated with them she would have been released regardless. Say if John & Arnie got there before the T-1000 they would have successfully broken her out. Easy escape when you have an indestructible robot come rescue you. 😂
@@master-of-mind5881if she had cooperated with the police? With T1000 among them, infiltrated? No.
Just imagine T800 killing fake Sarah in front of John (because she would have been copied and killed, for sure)...😢
@@master-of-mind5881 she's intelligent, she has no reason to expect that they would try to rescue her. She didn't train John that way, she even tells him as much when they do rescue her.
@@master-of-mind5881 no if Sarah had cooperated and not attempted to escape, the T-1000 would have most likely gotten to her before John & the T-800. The T-1000 had already gotten to Sarah's (empty) room and returned to the guard station by the time the alarm was triggered at the other guard station where Sarah was threatening to inject Silberman with liquid roofer. John & the T-800 got up the elevator a minute or two after that, just as Sarah made it to the elevators.
Sarah is crazy she is imagining all this, T-*** comes from her treatment thorazine 800mg and in 2 thorazine 1000mg (poly aloy) meaning they inject it to her not oral intake, she just reinvents the story. terminator is her treatment which will bring her back to reality, probably she is a psycho serial killer in reality who was raped and created the fictional story to protect her from trauma and the fear of an unwanted birth (john connor).

Back then when directors could make a masterpiece sequel like this one in 1991.
When directors and writers were both well-studied and intelligent... and also perhaps even one and the same. :) I've been developing and publishing my own series of projects recently. I've tried to apply what I learned from folks like Cameron, Scorsese, Lucas, Spielberg, Zwick, Mann, Tarantino, the Scotts (Ridley and Tony--RIP to Tony), and so forth. Even Sagan was pretty much my favorite writer, despite him only being well-known for didactic science in lieu of... you know... "Contact".
Even back then there were some really bad sequels. It just wasn’t the only thing in theaters
Back then they didn't listen to the audience as much as today. Now they listen to the audience so much the movies have no heart.
Best sequel of all time and best action flick ever. Hands down
Not many Camerons in Hollyweird these days.
1:09 proof that John is already a good leader. Hates his foster family, but cares enough to call and warn them. That is enough to say he's a good leader.
"We know you know who this guy is."
"Also, we're holding you against your will for knowing who this guy is."
“And for also trying to blow up a computer factory”.
@@steffondoyle8071Sarah really had no idea what she was doing
@@Michael_Maneshe knew, unfortunately she was the only one
Some of the plot was lost on me, at the end of the first terminator they take her to hospital and then she's free to go on her road trip at film's end. Then we get to this and they're all treating her like a criminal despite the fact they let her go freely back in 1984 even though they found dead Kyle Reese and the remains of a robot they'd never seen before. I don't think they'd be just letting her go, she would've been a suspect in Kyle's murder for one. Makes no sense.
@@user-et6pj4db9s She was picked up sometime after that. Considering she was shacking up with gun-runners, who knows what all she was involved in?

did it work?
So many cool things packed into one scene: Terminator vs Terminator engaging each other like two catfishers on a dating site. The subtlety of a simple shoulder twitch to convey a murder. The "Wolfie" bit. The presence of the stepfather to give the audience a false assurance that the T-1000 hadn't gotten to them yet.
I can't think of a single scene from any subsequent Terminator movie that accomplishes so much with so little effort.

U know the crazy thing is when they're showing the pics of the police station massacre from the first movie to Sarah, it was basically Arnold dressing up in his old gear behind the scenes to mimic the scene, only thing a little different is the fact u can tell his shape was just a little toned down but he still looked like his original shape for the most part.
Still gives me chills to show those pics though, same weapons, same clothes and same sunglasses. And to add detail to this which I love detail, they're showing the pics in black and white.
Wouldn't it have been crazy for that same police station to have made a cameo appearance in the sequel while The Terminator, Sarah and John were driving out of town after John and The Terminator had saved Sarah from the mental institution?
*you......
I think the only thing obvious difference is the hair. In T1, I’m pretty sure his hair looks a little different than what it’s like here, in this film. Which makes sense considering the time space between the two movies. But if you pay close attention, you can definitely see it.
Sunglasses are different. Look again.

I agree, John was being a little jerk and those guys did not deserve that!
@@Knufflebeest And they were willing to face Arnold. He should have bought them a beer.
The scene makes perfect sense for the characters in the film, whether you like what happened to them or not. John is kind of a jerk who only looks out for himself. Considering the life he's had, that's understandable. He thinks its cool to have an invincible body guard and wants to test out what he's capable of, not realizing exactly what that means until a homicide almost occurs due to his stupidity. That's when he starts to realize the responsibility he carries. Then he hears his Mom is going to be terminated and decides to rescue her. His first steps to becoming an adult. Its an important moment in the film and works very well in telling the story.

As soon as the phone rings and the camera cuts to John’s stepmother, we see her preparing food with that big kitchen knife, this is great misdirection. A nice little detail that contributes to the visual storytelling of this exceptional blockbuster.
Also John’s bullshit detector is impressive because he realised very quickly that he wasn’t talking to his stepmother.
I thought her cutting vegetables was so stupid considering it was the t1000 . No reason for that to be there other then to fool us thinking it was really her. John makes a argument against killing by the categorical imperative. The T800 retorts with an ontological argument.😆
" of course" I'm a terminator" 😂. Never gets old....
Excellent script writing right there. T800 asks whats the dogs name, Conor says "Max", but yet T800 calls the dog "Wolfie" and the T1000 assumes that as fact to repeat the name with confidence to refer the dog barking outside, that gives it away that the women isn't Conor's foster parent.

Looking back at this scene makes me wonder... If it's in terminator's very "nature" to kill people without second thaughts... Why he didn't kill anybody at the beginning of the movie in motorcycle bar? I know Cameron said that he won't kill anybody in this movie, but compared to T800 statement here it doesn't make much sense...
Even the T1000 only kills people who can help him get to John or directly impedes that mission. The T800 in this scene viewed the jocks as a direct threat to John, so they were expendable.
This was the day before John went with Katherine Brewster in Mike Kripke’s basement

"Because you just can't, okay?" One of the worst bits of dialogue I have ever seen.
This movie is in the transition between GenX and Millenials. John Connor is what the oldest millennials thought was cool but could still be entertaining to younger GenX.
This film style for science fiction was what peak GenX followed on, and the culmination of the style is probably the matrix movie.
If you look at this scene, you realize that John is basically acting like Bart Simpson.
It’s really interesting to see, given that the production quality is amazing. Kind of how like 90s hip hop can still sounds incredibly fresh to the untrained ear.
Gen Xers are before Millennials.
@@BJBlaskovichGaming yeah that was my point. I’m a millennial, and I look at John Connor now and I realize I would try to act like that. But I’m on the older side of a millennial, and I was very young when this came out.

“ they could’ve stalled for more time by telling the T-1000 that John was on his way home.”
They fail to take into account that the T-1000 doesn’t know where they are so it wouldn’t matter.

One of the many subtle details I like about this film is that John begins to display the qualities of a great and humane leader without seeming to realise it.
The parking lot scene was a terrifying moment for John because he realized the fragility of every potential military move. The T-800 was going to murder both men simply because John told him to. That kind of power is terrifying and the reality sobered him up from being a brutal asshole.

I think if you can create a stand out villain in one movie then bring him back as hero protecting the heros in the next then you can make a smash
1:22-3:10 you know a cool detail about this scene is that when the t800 is on the phone talking to the t1000 they are both trying to deceive one another, the t800 asks john what the dogs name was because he knew he could use it as bait against the t1000 to see whether it was telling the truth, he asks john the dogs name and john responds Max, the t800 then asks what's wrong with "Wolfie" intentionally getting the dogs name wrong to see if Johns foster mom would correct him and by the t1000 not correcting john he ends up blowing his cover then the t800 hangs up knowing that johns foster parents are dead because he knows he's talking to the t1000. if you watch the directors cut with the additional footage there's a deleted scene that shows the t1000 searching johns house after he hangs up with the t800 where he walks out side and kills the dog and takes its collar and reveals that the name on the collar in fact says MAX and then the t1000 is shown with a face that shows the audience that he realizes his mistake, he then combs johns room for clues and the scene ends, it was probably cut for pacing reasons and to trim the films overall run time as James Cameron didn't feel the scene was necessary and he probably had second thoughts about showing a terminator killing an animal regardless of it happening slightly off screen as it does in the deleted scene. all in all its a really cool scene that gets overlooked by most fans but is a testament to James Cameron's writing and attention to detail in filming.
He would have made a great live bart simpson
1:20: we know now that her foster mom is actually T1000, but HE STILL KEEPS ON CUTTING VEGETABLES? Why? Why on the earth does any terminator cuts vegetables?
Probably because the foster dad was like “wtf Janelle, why aren’t you cooking dinner yet?” And the T-1000 disguised as Janelle just went along with it to blend in before John got home so it could kill him
Now days T-1000 may know everyone one's location with no doubt.
