Any road trip when i was younger the car radio was always playing the Judds. My Family loves them. we all have demons either in our heads or actual demons around us. I think Naomi had both and she had them her whole life. We don't know when the final demon walks thru the door for you but if your battling things that you can't control, please reach out because if no one knows no one can help. RIP MOM
I’m wondering if when Naomi was performing that night if she realized she just didn’t have it in her to do another tour, but she didn’t want to let Wynonna or the fans down and add on top of that her the hall of fame and depression and other health issues and it was just too much pressure. Wynonna said when they were singing this night she looked over at Naomi and knew something was very wrong and that’s why she stayed right next to her holding her arm and hand.
So heartbreaking to watch, in hindsight. In every interview clip from this night, you see Naomi's hands consistently shaking, and in another clip, she almost wanders off as they're heading off. There is no definitive reason as to why she committed suicide, but I'm a firm believer that the last straw was the final tour. Wy pretty much confirmed that in her interview featured in this video. Not only was she very much elderly at this point in her mid-late 70s, she was mentally and physically was NOT ready for 'one last ride' in terms of the final tour. I think once it was confirmed they were doing the final reunion tour, her mental health took a total nosedive, and as the weeks/days went on, it just became too much for her, and then April 30th happened. Country is not one of my favorite genres, but The Judds are beyond icons and their story will forever be one of the most heartbreaking ones in music history. Naomi is dearly missed.
I agree with most of what you wrote, but “very much elderly “ at 76? You must not know very many older folks. Some of my very respected and good friends are in their 80’s and 90’s, very active and very clear thinking .
@@Pjbuck55 Context is important when you read comments. With all due respect, I take offense to you claiming I don’t know elderly people, given my late father would’ve been 77 and my mother is 75. I am a caretaker. Both my parents had/have mental and physical issues, no matter how big or small, due to getting older. My point with Naomi, in particular, is that she mentally and physically was not in any condition or beacon of health to be doing the final tour at the time of her suicide. Age plays a part, but many other factors do. Not all people over 70+ are the same, mentally physically or health-wise. Everybody is different.
Isn't it an enigma how mental illness doesn't discriminate? Here's a woman who's talented, rich, beautiful, etc. and still struggled with it. People think if they had money, fame, fortune, they'd be happy. There are a lot of successful people that aren't happy or healthy.
What was unsettling for me was her age. It made me feel a lil hopeless, like so even in elderly age, elite mental gymnastics is needed in order to not off yourself 😢.....she "had it all" but when the brain says everything's shit. None of that matters. Knowing how to that record of replay is a gift not everyone was blessed with. 😢
@3:54 - I wish the presenter let Naomi answer the question about what it meant to her about being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Wynonna answered first, then Naomi leaned in to answer after, but the presenter moved on. I guess we will never know. :(
