This was the perfect way to have joker create Batman (unlike tat POS 89 movie). Batman could've settled down and been happy but the Joker took that away from him, or he could've been Batman for a couple more days and stopped the murder of Andrea's father saving Andrea from her dark path. Because he stopped being Batman for a couple of days he's miserable like his parent are punishing him
1:21:39 - DCAU Wiki : "A later issue of the comic based on the series explained the circumstances under which both Joker and Phantasm survived the blast; Phantasm, in fact, hesitated for a second when carrying Joker to the core of the explosion, seeing he was no longer her father's cold-hearted killer, but rather a grinning lunatic with no sense of right and wrong. Because of this hesitation, the blast detonated before either was in range."
Sure compared to hard hitters like Joaquin Phoenix and Heath Ledger he’s a goofy cartoon but that’s why we love him he’s a great actor playing a great character
19:06 - Episodes 16 and 17 of season 2 of Superman the animated series is the two part episodes “World’s Finest” where Superman and Batman meet and cross over. They cross over again in the final season of Batman The Animated series. They also crossed over in an episode of Batman Beyond. Also, “I am Vengence, I am the Night, I Am Batman,” was only ever said once in the animated series. That was in the season one first appearance of Scarecrow where Bruce was fear gassed and his greatest fear was that his father would be disappointed with his becoming Batman. Dangling off of Scarecrow’s escape blimp, he finally overcame his fear of his father’s ghost with this speech, and went on to defeat Scarecrow. That scene was used in much of the shows marketing and was often seen as a bigger version of Keaton’s, “ I’m Batman.” It is mainly through modern memes that people have made a much bigger deal out of it than what it really was. Even current DC creators have been caught up in this (see Batman #97-98).
Unfortunately the most over-looked of the theatrical Batman movies, live-action or not. It's undoubtedly up there as one of the best, if not, THE best. Honestly, it could be my favorite, depending how I feel that day haha. Toss up between this and "The Dark Knight". Maybe this has the edge today, because I remember it's part of the larger DCAU, which to me, is a DEFINITIVE shared universe that DC has at its disposal, yet is criminally underrated.
@@HermanFalckHow imo its better but I was born in 2000 so take it for what ye will. Batman Beyond+ Joker + that flashback scene, Tim being Joker (ish), and me loving it since I was 4 and seeing MOTF this year on Netflix for the first time
Herman Falck How To be fair, animation costs less. You’re working all digital now which cuts down on production time. As for the scripts, I don’t think that’s true at all. New Frontier is brilliant and gorgeous. Same with All-Star Superman, Under the Red Hood, Flashpoint Paradox and its Suicide Squad sequel, Red Son, and JL vs The Fatal Five is genuinely special and kind of important for its representation.
This is it right here, man! The DCAU Batman is the definitive Batman. From Freeze’s origin to Harley Quinn, it completely changed the Batman mythos. Kevin Conroy will always be the best Batman by a mile. Bruce Wayne is so complex here. In the DCAU, Bruce is stubborn, an asshole, sarcastic, often brutal, while also being kind, compassionate, and empathetic. THAT is Batman. As for Mask of The Phantasm, I can’t really add anything that hasn’t already been said. Why we don’t have Shirley Walker’s score in the live action films is a mystery.

Batman Beyond Return Of The Joker. Is worth watching in these rankings. I wonder and hope that they do watch it. I wasn't expecting this but Return Of The Joker would be fun.
Its funny that Greg makes a Fast and furious reference but Tim didn't when the car jump crashes from building to building. Hahaha Where's the loyalty to family Tim?! Where! 🤣🤣
@33:00 Kevin becomes Lucius Fox in The Dark Knight when Joker knocks Batman's detective vision and everything goes black. "Sorry. Hold on." Kinda Funny committed to the Dark Knight reviews!
26:31 yes we have two locations here in So Cal called Fazoli's and I go at least once a month for the good ol spaghetti and meatball with breadsticks - pretty tasty considering its fast food Italian cuisine
Sub-Zero was great for my dumbest 4 year old self bored at my aunts house, but didn't hold up compared to Return of the Joker (my then favorite) or this movie till I didnt see till more recently
I feel like these guys just need to watching newer modern movies. Literally, everything they review that came out more than ten years ago, they refer to as "dated." No shit it's dated, it came out nearly three decades ago.
I had a dream once that we were getting a live-action remake of this movie with Ben Affleck as Batman and Jared Leto as Joker- then I woke up and was very disappointed.
If the grain was huge you probably watched the 16:9 version. But this film was originally made for TV and for a theatrical release during a weak holiday season. The movies original cut is 4:3. If you watch 16:9 you’re not getting it all, you’re zooming in and more flaws are present.
(In the voice of the kid from Hook at the dinner party / food fight) "You did it, boys! You found the fun!" Might just be me agreeing moreso overall with this review than the last THREE, but I enjoyed this episode most so far. Looking forward to the neon laser show that is Batman Forever before the visit to the vomitorium that is Batman & Robin. Also, rate Cesar Romero you cowards! I don't care that he's #3, he and his beautiful powdered moustache deserve to be recognized!! (Also also, #TimWasWrong.)
When the Joker called Andi and Batman answer, Joker thought it was Andi because she visited Salvator and she jumped out of the window when the bomb went off.
Having re-watched both recently, gotta say that I think Under the Red Hood is the superior animated movie. Bruce Greewood's Bruce/Batman is highly underrated. Sadly it just wasn't released in theaters. But for this episode and movie, #2 feels right for Phantasm.
Honestly, I enjoyed this just as much as the Burton Batmans. I liked it, it had some good moments, some cool twists, but the animation was still sub-par TV quality and the despite the interesting set up the climactic battle just turned into a Batman vs. Joker fight, which was disappointing
There are 12 slots at then end when they're ranking so that means, Batman 66, Batman 89, Batman Returns, Mask Of The Phantasm, Forever, Batman And Robin, Begins, Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises, Joker, The Lego Batman Movie, but that's only 11, so I'm pretty sure and I really hope they're doing Catwoman
“I never counted on being happy”. Still the best cinematic Batman moment to me.

Shirley Walker's Batman theme is the best out of all of them. Better than Elfman and Zimmer. Change my mind.
I do agree but it wouldn't exist without Elfman so it needs that asterisk lol

The mask doesn't refer to the actual mask it's a reference to Andrea herself, just like Bruce Wayne is the mask not Batman, Andrea is the mask
Im shocked they put this joker number 2, that last laugh alone puts him miles ahead of everyone
Exactly. I mean this is PEAK Mark Hamill and PEAK Joker.
Not just the best Batman movie, but one of the best DC films period.

For once I agree with absolutely EVERYTHING Tim is saying. This movie is leaps and bounds better than any Batman movie besides The Dark Knight
You guys really put too much credit on the 89 Batman. I agree 100% with Tim, Jack Nicholson is completely overated as Joker.
I'd go even farther and say that hes flat out bad. How anyone can take it seriously has an odd interpretation of what Batman is
