    Nice presentation. A excellent look behind the scenes of a hospital birth. Think the 'Intern" position gives good individual focus on the job requirements & gives staff supervisory & Instructional experience. As well as an extra set of hands. Unsure if the US. has this type of learning. hospital jobs are very difficult to get as educational requirements keep changing. Looking forward to additional videos.

    I adore Emma Willis❣ I would get on so well with Val the assistant...I also have to have EVERYTHING a CERTAIN WAY. 😂😂😂 On a serious note I can feel for Makayla...my grandson was born at 33 weeks naturally (mama had preeclampsia) and he only weighed 4lb. 3oz. and spent 5 and a half weeks in NICU. He had respiratory issues as well but he needed full c-pap mask...bless Maria only needed the cannula so far. He also had to have a feeding tube through which he got breastfed. Attached to many other things as well. Midwives are absolutely amazing❣❣❣

I have loved babies since I was 3 and was blessed with a gift when working with young children so I was hoping to have a large family like the one I grew up in. Sadly it didn’t work out that way and I suffered 6 miscarriages before being blessed with my miracle Rainbow baby girl. I had another miscarriage right after she turned 2 and I told my husband that I couldn’t go through another one so we stopped trying. Our daughter turned 20 this year.

    Can’t believe there was only one person masked in the Operating Room. That wouldn’t fly in the U.S. We also don’t use “gas”. Epidural is pretty routine here.

    • @nicolefields5917
      @nicolefields5917 4 года назад +4

      Some hospitals are using gas here again. I just attended a birth as a doula where they used it. The mom didn’t care for it in the long run, but it was an option offered for pain relief.

    • @kaitlyncleary3424
      @kaitlyncleary3424 4 года назад +1

      Wonder which is better.

    • @nicolefields5917
      @nicolefields5917 4 года назад +4

      Each method of pain relief has it’s own benefits and side-effects. Gas is short acting and therefore has less effect on baby as it is trying to breathe for the first time. Epidural is effective for pain relief, but the mom has less ability to know where to push when she gets to that stage. There are also a number of other side effects from epidural that include an elevated temperature (that can lead to worries about infection when one isn’t present), little to none of the typical hormone cascade, which lessens oxytocin, the “love” hormone, thereby sometimes affecting mom’s bonding with baby. Narcotic pain relievers are also shorter lasting and can provide relief, but if given too close to baby’s birth, can dampen their natural breathing reflexes. It is my job as a doula to help the mom to navigate the path of choices before we get to the hard part, and to also support her when she comes to moments when she needs to decide if she needs a medication. I also offer her many alternatives to medication so she can see if she can make it without, if that is her choice. The main worries are: how is mom progressing-if she’s not because she is so nervous or tense, then exploring options for medication may be a good thing, and how is baby doing? In the long run, the best outcome is a healthy mom and baby, regardless of the path it took to get there.

      Danielle Mills My daughter in law was in labor for 36 hours, most of it really hard labor, but that baby boy just would not stay with his head pushing against her cervix. She really wanted to have a vaginal delivery, she was amazingly strong, what a trooper she was. Her first baby had been a long labor too but eventually she managed to deliver her but it wasn’t to be this time. She was exhausted. The babe started to show signs of distress. They did the c section and I got my third grand son. Mom and baby were fine.

      I know!! At least some of the midwives are RN's. I carried loads of certifications beyond being an RN, caught so many life threatening problems while working mom/baby, NICU and nursery.. sometimes in same day, that it appears they aren't concerned with. Amazing US morbidity/mortality is higher despite the loose attitude and unqualified care. Really not keen about the mask usage in OR being so mixed, nasal swabs show staff with drug resistant bugs in nose and that isn't covered, plus the staff don't wear face shield to protect themselves from splashes. Oh, well I don't have to worry about giving birth or managing a safe humane delivery anymore : ))
