This was literally me! I was like This is a kid’s show then I finished Chimera Ant and was like WTF Gon child what happened to my sweet little boy? Then I realized he wasn’t innocent from the get go lol still not done but it’s GOOD
It starts off with world building/character introductions and a slice of life kind of tone but then evolves with darker themes and insane character developments accompanied with some more compelling aspects. It's my favorite anime for a reason
Something drew me in to this masterpiece that I didn't realize until it was almost done. Unlike many other animes/mangas, Gon slowly had a descent into darkness from being such a kind and pure child. You could feel the distress within Killua grow over time. Such a well done piece of art.
Yeah, I get what you mean, but also at the same time, almost from the very beginning, you could tell that Gon was out of his mind. Actions that he took near the beginning and of the show indicate that Gon was psychotic.
He was never that of a "kind and pure child", yes, he was caring and kind but he's the selfishness incarnation. Never left that behind his own actions and you can see it early in the story

Another thing I like about this show is that even though it had the typical "best friends/rivals" main two, it had them advance at almost the same speed (and with the secondary character sometimes surpassing the first, WITHOUT the first getting jealous and desperate, or vice versa). It made them feel a lot more like real people with different talents and personalities, rather than just an easy way to create a story plot/arc of Killua being an antagonist. And the way Gon and Killua continued to push and pull the other one along, encouraging them and comforting them, made their friendship even better. Despite me not liking Gon all that much, he's written great. idk i'm high and maybe reading too deep into this. Great video! lol It made me laugh
@@rayisarefregirator spoiler for those scrolling the comments: I've seen plenty reactors who felt very emotional and some who even cried for Kite's death so if a spectator can become that invested in a character they knew for a couple episodes, its not hard to understand Gon's reaction, given he was at said character's side for weeks, facing death together several times. Furthermore, many people don't consider Gon and Kite's hourly and daily interactions for the several weeks they spent alongside each other finding the ants. During that time, they developed a much deeper bond than what is visually portayed. So in that sense, if we put ourselves in Gon's shoes and also consider other determining factors like his mentality, morality, and previous actions that displayed the self-destructive lengths he's willing to reach for his personal gain, its objectively justifiable and well within his character to have committed such atrocious, self-destructive vengeance on Pitou.
Gon was so kind at the start, and couldnt even feel hatred towards the guys who broke his arm, but felt anger and bloodlust towards pitou. It's the scariest when the person who usually does not get angry gets angry
I feel like he wasn't angry with the ninja dude because he understood they were both just doing what they needed to do to pass the Hunter exam. I think the only reason he got so mad with Pitou was because Pitou literally turned Kite into a human puppet, even though he was going to avenge Kite anyways I think that's honestly what set him over the edge.
Watching this again makes me realize how cruel this anime and how not so pure Gon like it's easy for them to kill without a second thought. People die everywhere.

In the manga it was a bit different. He didn’t gain power by anger and broke the chain. In the manga he was strong without the rage and broke the chain in order to fight. He could broke them native but it wouldn’t be a wise decision

There were some scenes left out, Gon, Kurapika and Leorio being impressed Killua returned home and opened the ton gates like nothing, Bisky scenes being impressed with both of them, Killua's family being impressed with how he can handle Alluka and escape by blackmailing them, the butler's being impressed with Killua's speed when they're after him, the butler being impressed with Killua's rhythm echo, Netero being impressed by both of them during their little game and while analyzing them during the hunter exam, along with a few other scenes I probably missed. The boys are prodigies and you could almost dedicate an entire episodes length to just them being praised/feared.
Togashis story telling is amazing. Morel doubting gons abilities and conviction regarding the mission was understandable, but the fact that even before it started gon was more mentally prepared than any of the other hunters is crazy. And actually ended up sacraficing one of the most important parts of his life, his NEN, just further adds to how amazing the story is.
The contrast between 8:29 and 10:57 angry faces is one of the most accurate examples I've ever seen of ''Shit's about to go down HARD when the detailed face comes in''
To think gons strength grows so much he topples Neferpitou so easy the series can't continue/had to neef him. He'd prolly be the strongest hunter to date. It really is insane to think about
I would still like to see Gon up against Meruem in that form, because his attacks actually might be the only thing that could hurt Meruem short of that mini nuke.

Thing is that gon made the contract asking for all potential power he would have gained in his life right in that moment. He didn’t have any benefit of training to learn anything more than jajenken. Power wise, gon may have been up there with the most powerful. As for fighting ability, he’s not nearly as sharp.
Wing being terrified of these boys potential is what sold me. It's so genuine because he knows these kids will be real problems in the future and could be detrimental to the world if given the wrong guidance
I find both killed and Gon to be interesting characters. They’re relatable and lovable kids. They can defend themselves and they love to learn. Gon is epically interesting because he walks the line of cute and scary. There is no right or wrong for him, only hurting those he cares about a what he’ll do about it, or having fun, taking care of, and being there for those he cares about.
I always heard people talk about HxH, I saw it on every streaming sight, looked like it was for little kids. Randomly decided to watch it and was fucking blown away. This has one of if not the best and most well fleshed out power system of any anime. It’s so intricate and unique. Top tier anime, will always be a favorite.

This anime is so good, so sad that I only get to experience it for the first time once, wish I could relive my first time watching it really hope they finish it although they probably wont.
The manga and anime is really a gem, there are a lot of mysteries and foreshadowing happening, too bad it's been hiatus for a long time now. I don't wanna die not knowing how this will end.
5:02 the coin game was a play all along if I remember correctly, when Gon and the guys left he showed Gon that he was a step forward always, he was maybe really testing gon honestly, or the last scene he was just showing that he could’ve gone a step further, at the of the day no matter how gon is special the butler is the butler of the zoldics with the power to manipulate coins using his nen when at the moment Gon didn’t even know what nen is (I am not really sure it’s only speculations and I haven’t watched the show in ages)

Every aspect of this anime is in the league of its own, there is no single episode that was boring, I hope we will get to see this anime (manga) till the end because there is so much more potential to it
to all anime that i watch in the present I belive this one is very unique and original ... other anime cant copy how the nen system works and unlike other anime this one can get every explanation of true power system ... other anime is like depends on power of friendship like their power got boost up didn't even know where that comes from ... but in hxh training is the one who gets you strong, if you boost to power up there are some negative effects
I always see this show as a not only cutting edge by not following the standard shonen formula, but shows how the MCs grow and get stronger, but never actually are the strongest in each arc, they win fights of course, not all of them, but it always shows them that they have tons of room for improvement, hell, they didnt even develop hatsu abilities until episode 60!
Don't want them to grow old want them to be like that always 😭 but if Hunter x Hunter will finally come back maybe Yoshihiro Togashi has no choice but to make this characters adult now 🥺
gons story is unfortunately over, manga has been all about kurapika and even that has been on hiatus for what several years now. so probably no more content about gon and killua for us sadly, since togashi doesn't care frankly

The best compliment from any character was Razor of all people saying that Gon is the monster when he put here soloing the lot of them, don't forget controlling his Nen "beasts" at the same time, dude was beyond all of them. I'd love to see more of him, surprised Hisoka didn't want to fight him 1v1.
I like when killua gets "tortured" by his brother only for him to find out he was toying with him the whole time and breaks his restraints and walking away.

You should realize that in the beginning of the exam. Most of the candidates dies in the start. And the world definition is clear

In the manga it was a bit different. He didn’t gain power by anger and broke the chain. In the manga he was strong without the rage and broke the chain in order to fight. He could broke them native but it wouldn’t be a wise decision

There were some scenes left out, Gon, Kurapika and Leorio being impressed Killua returned home and opened the ton gates like nothing, Bisky scenes being impressed with both of them, Killua's family being impressed with how he can handle Alluka and escape by blackmailing them, the butler's being impressed with Killua's speed when they're after him, the butler being impressed with Killua's rhythm echo, Netero being impressed by both of them during their little game and while analyzing them during the hunter exam, along with a few other scenes I probably missed. The boys are prodigies and you could almost dedicate an entire episodes length to just them being praised/feared.
Togashis story telling is amazing. Morel doubting gons abilities and conviction regarding the mission was understandable, but the fact that even before it started gon was more mentally prepared than any of the other hunters is crazy. And actually ended up sacraficing one of the most important parts of his life, his NEN, just further adds to how amazing the story is.
The contrast between 8:29 and 10:57 angry faces is one of the most accurate examples I've ever seen of ''Shit's about to go down HARD when the detailed face comes in''
To think gons strength grows so much he topples Neferpitou so easy the series can't continue/had to neef him. He'd prolly be the strongest hunter to date. It really is insane to think about
I would still like to see Gon up against Meruem in that form, because his attacks actually might be the only thing that could hurt Meruem short of that mini nuke.

Thing is that gon made the contract asking for all potential power he would have gained in his life right in that moment. He didn’t have any benefit of training to learn anything more than jajenken.
Power wise, gon may have been up there with the most powerful. As for fighting ability, he’s not nearly as sharp.
Wing being terrified of these boys potential is what sold me. It's so genuine because he knows these kids will be real problems in the future and could be detrimental to the world if given the wrong guidance

I find both killed and Gon to be interesting characters. They’re relatable and lovable kids. They can defend themselves and they love to learn. Gon is epically interesting because he walks the line of cute and scary. There is no right or wrong for him, only hurting those he cares about a what he’ll do about it, or having fun, taking care of, and being there for those he cares about.

I always see this show as a not only cutting edge by not following the standard shonen formula, but shows how the MCs grow and get stronger, but never actually are the strongest in each arc, they win fights of course, not all of them, but it always shows them that they have tons of room for improvement, hell, they didnt even develop hatsu abilities until episode 60!

The best compliment from any character was Razor of all people saying that Gon is the monster when he put here soloing the lot of them, don't forget controlling his Nen "beasts" at the same time, dude was beyond all of them. I'd love to see more of him, surprised Hisoka didn't want to fight him 1v1.
Gon's and Kurapika's voice actors are very similar to the original ones and fit the character
