I remember seeing this interview in 94 as a preview to the feature of 9 1/2 weeks on one of our national TV stations in Serbia. I was 13 years old and I thought he was a bit cocky and arrogant but a badass. Didn't like it then, today I know the background story and understand him.much better. After the interview I watched 9.5 weeks for the first time and that was that - fell in love with him and that movie forever. His looks and his acting. He was pure perfection. And something that no longer exists in movies - unique. The real deal. A MAN.
Apparently he threw the Pulp Fiction script in the garbage without reading it at this time because he heard John Travolta would be in it. That role would have kickstarted his come back.
He refused to compromise and that caused his demise. Either you are capable of selling your soul or you are not. He stayed true to himself no matter the price. He refused to be anybody's puppet
@@AW-rx1uk Why would l be a drama queen for using that word? In fact, he himself would probably agree with me for perfectly describing his feelings at the time. Check out the interviews that he did between 1990-2007. He lost his good looks due to boxing injuries and plastic surgery. He lost his fortune. His wife left him. His brother Joey died in his arms. His voice changed due to heavy chain smoking. Hollywood shunned him, and he was considered crazy, rebellious, dangerous, and too outspoken for studio executives to give him a serious role in movies. He admitted to being suicidal in this stage of his life. He went to a psychiatrist and a priest named father Pete to solve his issues. It was truly a long journey before his comeback.
90ς....the best era ever....people was so unique movies was awesome music was full of very best....and then came the today than EVERYTHING seems fallen...even people has loose their passion.
non si paragona un mostro scro di recitazione come rourke ad un mediocre attore come costner ,che recita solo perhce gli altri gli fanno la parta luce del film, rourke è imprescendibile talentuoso e fantastico ,l'ltro è solo un buon attore
A natural actor, no doubt. Hard to fathom the likes of Rourke and Brando didn’t know the industry was a business, requiring a certain level of savvy and sophistication to reach certain heights. Also really stupid of Rourke to speak poorly of other actors, projects and ultimately, the industry.
Brando did know it was an industry he did roles just for money some stars would complain about him making a mediocre effort too but he was still pretty honest about his personal ethics in interviews especially about the indigenous. People probably pestered Mickey to be more like other actors Costner maybe so he rejected that and got offended. If a boyfriend of mine says to me be more like someone else my attitude would be I'm not changing don't manipulate me go f*CK her instead then leave me be so maybe he had that attitude about the industry too just wanted to be himself couldn't adapt to being fake offscreen though maybe Costner was just a calm type comparatively.
He is still outspoken here against various actors/directors. So, aware of his situation but still not quite there yet at this point yet. Some really stupid questions asked. Like the guy pushing him about the bad stuff he did.. Silly.
They really dragged this guy across the coals meanwhile he’s the most talented actor in Hollywood at the time.

THE Man 💯
Mickey Rourke will FOREVER BE BADASS!
He always has coolest glasses
he has a beautiful face....I love his voice and of course he is a genius in acting!
mickey rourke forever ,love,best actor
Spent his career making excuses for shite decisions. Still an unbelievable talent.
Who cares if he had surgery. Enough of these stupid comments. The guy's a great actor and that's all that matters. Stop being so damn shallow.
I can't believe the idiotic questions some people ask. The guy is an intelligent human being for goodness sake... 🙄🙂💜
Coolest guy ever!

Tarantino +Mickey Rourke it would have been awesome.
He refused to compromise and that caused his demise. Either you are capable of selling your soul or you are not. He stayed true to himself no matter the price. He refused to be anybody's puppet
He was offered the role of Butch. You'd think he wouldn't mind a movie where he gets to machine-gun Travolta into a bathtub.
what was wrong with john travolta?
I love mickey rourke forever
It's heart and soul crushing to see Mickey reduced to this.I was very happy for him when he had his comeback with The Wrestler.
Soul crushing? Drama queen 😹

Beautifull ❤️

He's already done something to his face here but he should've stopped in this period.
He had to do plastic surgery BECAUSE he lost half his face boxing
I think he does what he wants and knows what's best for him.
Sei bellissimooooo♥️
Funny how in 1994 he was already talking about how much he’s changed from the old days.
he used to be such a good looking man and so good actor§§
Still is a good actor
He still is.
Wow, the idiotic questions people ask...
"you don't wanna know that... "... 😎
❤
Ha! Mickey is SO right on about Kosner! Very cool video. Thanks!
He is a cool 😎 cat !
😎❤️
This whole interview is surreal... poor Mick... God people are stupid
Wow amazing . This was when he was shredded
Ronnie Haley the dude is still a monster
Still is
Mickey Rósssso!!
I wonder if one of the puppies was the one he was holding in the movie Once Upon A Time In Mexico.
Richard Harris/ James Cagney/Errol Flynn/ Rourke
well, back then it was just having puppies
And now he’s just a Hollywood shill, good job Mick 👏🏻 this interview was one of the last of real Mick.
yes!
sadly
Yep 😴

i should put Mickey in the next Pigs In Silk Hats

He’s a self destructive individual. Kevin Costner was the biggest star in 1994. Yeah let me attack Kevin Costner. A dumb guy. Mickey is. .
"Sophistication" = sell your soul / never speak the truth...yeah, I wonder why such an amazing human being would not agree to those terms...
Luna L: Thank you for sharing your perspective.

I get no sound, but there are subtitles.

🤩🤩😏🤩🤩🤩🤩😏🤩😏
he looked ok here, so when did the bad surgery happen?
Late October of 1994 and early 1995
i am dating a guy right now that looks like a younger version of Mickey, well i think he does ;)
that's nice. we all care.
😂
He was handsome at one time but ruined his looks with the boxing. It messed up his face forever. Sad.
It's a shame the John Wesley Harding film, directed by Dennis Hopper, with Richard Harris was not made.
The best well aware of his surroundings @lorraineamicothemakeupartist
