    This is such a helpful video and thank you for producing it. I run a website design/development agency with my husband and being transparent about pricing (though in the thousands range) was something we firmly believed in providing from the get-go. We noticed most of our competitors make you fill out a form for a quote and it can be a point of frustration for the prospect who just quickly wants to know the price. Lately I've been second guessing myself and wondering if we need to remove pricing from our website and go the traditional route of requiring prospects to fill out a form for a quote. This confirms we should stick with transparent pricing as that's what customers really want to know before deciding to move forward or not. Thank you!

    2. Price condition cuts right to ideal clients.

    I have fought this battle with a number of service oriented clients over and over. We live in an information age. People are looking for information and pricing is part of what they are looking for. I have always been an advocate for pricing on a web site. It pre qualifies customers and makes them more comfortable talking to you about your service. The only thing secret pricing does is turn people off.

I do like the idea of using the phrase "Starting at...", for the very reasons you mentioned. I'm going to add that back onto my site. As a local service business I have definitely seen a drop off in my online contact forms. I’ve really hesitated putting pricing on my website up till now because I’m scared they’ll price shop and not call when I view every phone call I get as a free consultation for my customers because I try to add value during the call. But not adding pricing is just my old ways getting in the way. You make a very a strong case for it with all your pricing model examples. Great Vid and very on-point.

    I agree with most of this as it just saves time for everyone to have your prices on display as I don't want my inbox filling up with unsuitable quotation request. Only 1 in 6 of my local competitor's display prices and I can see why they do this as they want to charge by the value that they are giving rather than a fixed price. But I think showing your prices and as long as you can justify them will make you look even more professional.

    If I visit a site and they only ask you to contact them then I will not bother with it. Whereas if they do list their prices then I am more likely to work with them.
    This is partly to do with the fact that I do not want to waste my time on something I may not be ready for. Partly because it may cost much more then I am prepared to pay. But mostly it is a question of trust. The more open they are with me the more i will trust them. The less open they are the more likely I am to wonder what are they hiding and why.

    • @BrandmakerMedia
      @BrandmakerMedia 5 лет назад +1

      Hi mitchy, you hit one of my pain points, so I will take this one.. 1. Wix is so easy to build, yet after the first year, the yearly fees are expensive.. especially if you have more than one site ( I have 3 businesses)... I have stalled my sites, because am weighing if I should convert all to Wordpress, which after the first year, is much less expensive to keep running.. 2. What do you offer in design, expertise and knowledge that would benefit a do-it-your selfer in the long run. 3. In sales, the objection just means that the person asking wants and needs to be educated.. . handling the objection, and explaining what you offer and how you will help them is the key... I hope this helps...

    • @WesMcDowellInc
      @WesMcDowellInc  5 лет назад

      Hey Mitchy, honestly, the guys who would be DIYing a wix website aren't your clients anyway. I've found that businesses who DIY their website are not the same as the ones who pay for a web designer. They're just different sized businesses with very different budgets.

    Great advice. I've always been transparent and publish my service pricing. The main thing is, we don't do any estimates which can be time-consuming. Because people can see what we charge, they are usually far more relaxed if we have to do extra work. We repair top-end cameras and I suppose like watches, I would not want to send my expensive watch for repair to some places because the thing is, they now have it in their possession and if I don't like the estimate, I have to pay to get it back. It wastes money and time, lol, excuse the pun! Very informative videos here, thanks.

    What about the idea that you mention your per hour rate within a scope of work you plan to do for a client.
    Let say for example. This body of work will take approx 100 hours @ our rate of €50 per hour € 5,000
    The concept that a project like this would cost between 4,500 / 5,000 and if we have any hours we can invest that time into ( extras that might of been agreed as value to the client during the discovery meeting.
