Thank you so much for making this video. I love the phone. I remember my best friend in grade school actually had a party line, and the lady would pick up and say "please get off the phone"! Ha-ha. One of the books on my list was also read to me by a teacher. In third grade, my favorite teacher Mrs. Pedersen read Charlotte's Web. That was my favorite time of the day when she would sit in front of us and read a chapter every day. I love what you said about your mom. We didn't have a lot of extra money growing up, but my mom never denied me books. I used to love when the Scholastic Book Club order would arrive at school, I could not wait to go home and read my new books. And in the summer, my parents allowed me to enroll in a summer book club. They would send you 4 books a month, and I'd read them all in the first 10 days!

Your friend had a party line? That's awesome! I do love Charlotte's Web. It just didn't really come up in my mind as one of my favorites but I do love it. And, yes I remember this scholastic book club at school. 🤩 I think that's why I love book of the month, it reminds me of Scholastic a little bit.

The girls that had to wear purple was from the Sweet Valley Twins series. I loved those books! I have kept all my collection since I'm a big 80's fan lol. I still have my Sweet Valley Twins and Sweet Valley High books. Didn't collect all of them but do have quite a good amount of books since that's what I always bought whenever my parents would take my sisters and I to the bookstore or to this other store I loved named Gemco, which were later sold to Target. The 80's were the best. I miss those days! :-)

Oh my goodness, I had so many favorites. I’ve been a bookworm my whole life lol. Some series from when I was younger were Clifford the Big Red Dog, Bereinstien Bears, and Corduroy. I also loved books like Heidi, Little Women, island of the blue dolphins, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, the Goosebumps series, Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley (when they were kids/teens/and or adults lol), The Alice series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor and the Boxcar Children mysteries. I’ve been collecting some as I find them because I still enjoy re-reading my childhood favorites :)

OMG, how did I forget Clifford? I loved him too! I'm doing the same thing, collecting my cherished books, there's nothing like re-reading favorites from long ago. It's like the part of us that loves certain books always stays with us. I will have to check out Island of the Blue Dolphins.

SO many of those were my favorites as a child. Also, Runaway Bunny, ALL Shel Silverstein books of poems (I still have my copies), The Tomten and the Fox, Pippi Longstocking, Ramona the Pest, Anne of Green Gables... I could go on forever. One of the things I loved best about early motherhood was getting to introduce my kids to all of my favorites, and to discover new books!

So, this video is truly perfect timing. I literally went to Barnes and Nobles here today to buy my younger daughter a Wrinkle in Time as she requested to read that book after her teacher recommended it to her. I totally read that as kid back in the 80s and quite enjoyed it. So, excited that I get to share that book with my own daughter now, too. On a side note, Corduroy was one of my all-time favorites. I was in 2nd grade and my teacher at the time used to give away prizes to her students. I actually won the book set and the actual stuffed bear, too. I still will never forget how happy I was to win the books and bear, too. But again the 80s children's books were the best and maybe I am biased being a former 80s kid, but still will always have a special place in my heart for them. Hugs and so much fun!!

I absolutely love that your daughter is going to read A Wrinkle in Time and that it's a book that you loved when you were her age. That's so sweet and special. It's just like my mom and I with a Ramona Quimby series 💕. Also, now I'm trying to picture you as a little girl with your little Corduroy teddy bear. I just love this! You have a wonderful week my friend. 🤗

Trying to remember the name of a book where a chef would make just one thing & everyone got upset. The next night he’d make just one thing again…something like that.
I recently had an itch to find Dorrie the witch & the weather box. That popcorn book brings back great memories too. Thanks for this video.

You must have loved book it. I used to love earning personal pan pizzas from pizza hut each month. I remember thinking, "This is easy, I love to read!" I took such pride earning my book it ticket. Lol. A few favorite books of mine that stand out right away are - The Curious Little Kitten, Goldilocks and the three bears, The Berenstain Bears get in a fight, The Peter rabbit books, The three kitten kittens who lost their mittens, The Black Stallion, Stephen Cosgrove books such as Morgan Mine, I loved reading all fairy tale books and to this day I am grateful for having read them as I look back as an adult I think they gave me an early sense of maturity not a lot of other kids had because they taught me in essence not to trust everything presented to you, and to allow time to reveal if someone or something is good or bad, I also loved Romana and Beezes, and The babysitters club, as well as Sweet Valley High. Toward the year I turned ten I also began reading Bop magazine and all of those like Tiger Beat etc. There are so many books but I'm just thinking of a few at the moment. Thank you for such a great video. 😊❤

Here is a series by Nora Robets. The Bride Quartet Series, in order: Vision in White, Bed of Roses, Savor the Moment, and Happy Ever After. Four friends living together. One is a wedding cake maker, one a wedding photographer, one does wedding flowers and I think the other is a wedding coordinator and they all get married.

I think my favorite fairy tale was Thumbelina. Since I was born at the very end of 1965, you may not recognize some of my favorites. Books about dolls seem to be among my favorites because The Best Loved Doll by Rebecca Caudill, The Secret in Miranda's Closet by Sheila Greenwald and Magic Elizabeth by Norma Kassirer are on my list. Other favorites are the Betsy-Tacy books by Maud Hart Lovelace, The Peculiar Miss Pickett by Nancy R. Julian, Two Are Better Than One by Carol Ryrie Brink (she also wrote Caddie Woodlawn, a Newberry Medal winner) and I Was a 98 Pound Duckling by Jean Van Leeuwen. Some of the books that are the same for you and I are Blueberries for Sal, Corduroy, The Cricket in Times Square, Ramona books and the Berenstain Bears. I still have my book called The Magic Fish that came with a 45 record, and I loved it! I would play it on my portable record player and it had some scary thunderstorm noises as the fish got angrier and angrier each time the fisherman came back and said his greedy wife wanted more. I could go on and on .... Thank you again, and I love the picture of you with Raggedy Ann, so cute! P.S. I went through an ugly duckling stage too, even my husband was like "wow", ha-ha.

Aw, Thumbelina, such a sweet story. You're right, I don't recognize some of those books. But that's okay. What great memories we both have of books that came with records. I just love that! And yeah, I think most of us went through an ugly duckling stage. If we were lucky, because then now we appreciate what looks we do have. 😹
