The Pokemon Card Hobby can be extremely fun. At the same time, it can also be a bit frustrating. Opening Pokemon Cards brings about a chase that many Pokemon Card Collectors enjoy. However, this can be a very dangerous addiction that can lead to overspending in the hobby.
While it is enjoyable for Pokemon Card fans to open booster packs, it is also important to realize that rarely will you ever pull the value that equals the cost of the booster pack. However, every set that releases has different cards with different values attributed to them. Pokemon Card Pull Rates have also put a major impact on calculating the Average Pack Value when it comes to Pokemon Cards. The beginning of the Scarlet and Violet Generation produced 1 Special Illustration Rare for every 27 packs, where now, 1 Special Illustration Rare happens in every 70 packs. It is important to look at the total value of the Pokemon Cards in a set based off of pull rate data to determine the best Pokemon Cards to buy right now.

What I love so much about paldea evolved is that there is so many beautiful illustration rare and special illustration rares. Also the large amount of hits in the set makes it possible to have good pull rates without the cards losing too much value to them.
15 packs and nothing for a hit was enough for shrouded fable
Shrouded fable has been absolute garbage for me but then I know 2 people that it’s been good to. I just keep getting regular ex’s and just barely that.

ive somehow pulled 2 SIRs from the mini tins. only opened 8 and pulled the Munkidori SIR twice
I got a geninja box and a kingdra box purely for the promo and didn’t get a single hit, not even a base ex.
I always look at how many cards I actually want to collect or have in my deck(s)
If there are 5 or 6 IR's, 3 SIR's, a full art or two and multiple double rares and ace specs: I buy an etb and maybe even a booster box. If there's a set like twilight masquerade, obsidian flames or shrouded fable where I only care about maybe 1 or 2 IR's, a double rare and a cool promo; I buy singles
Stellar crown will be an etb + singles type of set due to budget constrains this/upcomming months

When it comes to opening I have to limit myself to only 1 day out of the week. I've cracked way too many packs in one sitting and it feels like you did a bunch of heroine when you wake up the next day 😂😂😂😂😂

This makes you wonder... HOW some " sealed" boosters from 1999 are still... " Sealed " ?? None can buy boosters, especially many of them and NOT opening them.
Let's call it what it is - opening booster packs is gambling. I'm not sure how TPCI continues to get away with not publicly listing what the actual pull rates are on their products. It's wild to me.

Typically I will save up to get 1 of each product (1 ETB, 1 Booster Bundle, 1 of each of the different type of blisters, etc...) Just what I found is an acceptable balance between spending and fun. (for me personally)

It depends how much I like the set to how much I open. I’m a sealed collector that always buy a booster box and Pokemon center exclusive ETB for my sealed collection. After that, I buy product to open. Sometimes very little, like shrouded fable, and sometimes I’ll buy a case of booster boxes like paradox rift (which I really enjoyed). All depends on price too, I prefer opening affordable sets such as sv base and paradox
I have 3 cases of PE. I told people for months to buy buy buy way before it went up in price. Great set! Paradox is another one people are sleeping on. U should be buying as much 151 as u can right now English and Japanese.
What I think is good and what I like to do…2 booster boxes, 2 ETBs, 1 booster bundle, 2-3 3pack blisters, and a few singles blisters. That will get most of the set and some fun, then just purchase the rest of the singles. And you could also buy a few products here and there for fun after that but definitely not try to master the set from opening packs…unless you’re rich.
The best sets are paldea evolved and paradox rift with pull rates + possible pulls
I have 35 sleeved Paldea evolved packs I got from Best Buy a while back on sale for $3. Have been tempted to rip those open many times but holding strong
I've enjoyed Paldea Evolved. It was the first set i started collecting again - though it has got slightly frustrating, as after probably what totals 6 booster boxes over the course of this year, i'm still missing 27 reverse holos and the Pikachu EX card! Still got 50 of the IR's and above to get as well, but somehow managed to get 3 Iono SIRs which will help with trading for singles.

Just watched your paradox rift video too. Should I start to collect PE or PR? Doing it purely for fun, want to buy a booster box or two at a time. Finding paradox drift boxes for $100 and paldea evolved for $130. Looking for high pull rates, I love the art on both sets
I normally open 1 booster box on release week and keep a Pokemon Center ETB sealed for each set. Other than that I probably spend $20-$50 bucks a week on random singles or packs. I actually had enough store credit on TCGplayer from selling my doubles to cover my whole stellar crown booster box so that was pretty sweet.
I usually just find bundles for every new set to open it for fun with my son. Then watch your videos about pull rates and buy singles to finish my master sets.

Somewhere around 108 packs (3 booster boxes). Though I'd have to admit with the harder SV pull rates I've started to creep towards 4 booster boxes. It's hard to stop without hitting two SIRs, or only getting one of the cheaper pills.
Paldea Evolved is definitely GOATed, we pick up a couple sleeved/blisters each week. Still chasing Iono!
If they reprint, ill buy two more cases to add to the current two in the closet. If not, price is waaaaay too high to justify buying more atm
I usually open 1 etb and between 2-5 BB depending on the set.
For Shrouded Fable its 1 ETB, 1 of each of the Illustration Rare collections and 10 Booster Bundles
Do you think if they reprint Paldea Evolved it will have the original pull rate or the new pull rate?
I try to open around 200 packs. I like to open a booster box, a couple ETBs, at least one each of the blisters, any of the collections boxes and battle decks, and a bunch of Build and Battles. I spread it around because I include all the promos and deck exclusive holo/non-holos in my master set. Once I get over 200 then I shift to singles (usually - lol).
Maushold is my favorite card in this set its really nice

I’ll buy a booster box and ETB for sets that catch my eye, maybe some sleeves or specialty boxes but If I don’t pull what I’m looking for I just buy the singles. I just bought most of the special illustrations for Scarlet and Violet base for $60.
Big fan of the one booster box + ETB combo, 45 packs plus the ETB promo for the promo binder is my sweet spot. Then buy the other products sporadically when deals pop up
To me, even this is a lot. I've been collecting for 1.5 years and an ETB still feels like a big boy purchase.
Lately it has been 1 Booster Box and one ETB for a regular set. A special set I will do more than that. Usually a case of booster bundles.
I used to get 1-2 booster boxes and an ETB for each set but now there is so much stuff I really focus on getting a set I just want to open with no specific goal, just having fun
I always grab an ETB, except Temporal Forces, and anything with a promo card. Then I chase hits when prices come down.

Just finally finished my PE master set. I was lucky with TM and got the Greninja in the first booster box i opened.
I usually buy an ETB, 3 pack blister and Promo single packs. After that, I switch to buying singles once the prices drop.
With Shrouded Fable, I bought the 3 box sets for the promos and literally didn't pull anything but energys. ( which are not hits, Pokemon!!! )
So, didn't bother buying anything else and I'm waiting on the prices of singles to drop.
Awesome bundle deal for sure and I would like to see what the value per pack average is for some of the other SV sets and maybe even like XY era!

I usually get two etbs and two booster boxes open one of each, then keep the other two sealed. Love opening packs but i prefer just buying singles. I will save you a lot of money
I was going to buy a case of paldea evolved BBs, but I just wasn’t fast enough. I got back into this hobby in December of 2023, and the first thing I did was buy sword and shield before they spiked. That took me a few months. I planned to buy sealed cases of all the scarlet and violet sets, and I started doing that in June. I just wasn’t fast enough to get a sealed case of paldea evolved for a reasonable price though. That is my 1 regret. I did everything else right. Should have got paldea evolved a couple of months sooner when it was still $650 a case. Now I can’t find it for less than $900 and I’m sitting over here hoping for a reprint

Amazed at the amount of people saying they buy at least a Booster Box and ETB per set. I just can't afford to spend €150-€200 on sealed every other month.

1 Greninja / 1 Kingdra box was enough for Shrouded. Mean while Paldea Evolved: opened plenty Tinkaton 3 pack blisters and still not done opening. Same goes for 151: opened 3 ETB, 1 UPC, 1 mini tin display so 10 mini tins, 1 Zapdos, 1 Alakazam box and 1 collection binder box. And I will continu opening 151, but with the restock/reprint going on I might try out the booster bundles. The only product I did not get to open yet.

For sets that i have plenty of chases in, I usually do like 3 or 4 booster boxes worth of packs but try to mostly do bundles of course. I dont master sets tho unless I were to win them😂 i just have CZ, Celebrations, and 151 eng master sets.

It hasnt been fun opening packs since crown zenith. I havent bought any sealed product or packs since then. Only singles, and it will stay like that, not gonna give in to Pokemon co. disgusting greed...
What about the people that only collect from buying and pulling every card in there set and sell there doubles to buy more packs to pull there chase card I was on rip n ship and didn’t realise people out there do this madness
