Thank you for this video! The same string broke twice on my new harp, right where it goes into the soundboard. I'm going to follow the advice in this video to, hopefully, solve the problem.
Any chance you could do a video on how to replace the eyelets on the sound board? I am a violin luthier and I just bought my own harp. I noticed that a lot of the eyelets on the lower octaves are broken and need to be replaced. Since I am an apprentice luthier, I'd like to fix it myself so I can add harp repairs to my list of skills.
Thank you for this insight! This might just save me, as my strings keep ripping at the eyelet $$$. What sort of sanding material was being recommended for smoothing edges? I can't find any info on this anywhere. Anyone know? Thanks again
Thank you for your professional advice. It's very useful on a new harp.

whenever I notice one of my strings is about to break, I don't even wanna be near my harp anymore
very knowledgeable, your videos are appreciated!
Viols use olive oil on gut strings and to lube areas like the nut and bridge, we use graphite. Just a thought.

Brasso. It's commonly used to buff scratches out of DVDs. Put some on a piece of string and do a back and forth motion. (Think embroidery string.)
Hello.since I started covering my harp at night I get much longer time out of the strings.
I am a new harpist. Whst do you cover your harp with?
