    I got to see 2 up close and was able to sit on one last Friday. Our IMRG group was the host chapter of the Jack Daniels/Indian Rally in Chattanooga. Steve Menneto (Pres of Indian) was there and talked about the bike. I liked the balance of the bike and the location of the controls and Ride Command. I owned a Road Glide and felt I always had to lean forward to use the controls. Couple things I’d add to the bike is a tailbag with passenger backrest and replace the passenger foot pegs with floor boards...after all, it is a touring bike. Can’t wait to test ride it Tuesday.

      Talk about prophetic hey!

    It’s called the Challenger because it’s a Challenge to the Harley Road Glide, which is Harley’s best handling Touring bike. Indian will roll it out once all the bugs and kinks are worked out. Some riders will hold off on the first year model and wait for the following year. The best is yet to come for the Tribe! Ride Safe Dazzle

      I know why people like to hold off but I've got a year 1 Vintage and had no problems. I know the guys who have the 1st year FTRs are real happy with theirs too. If I was in the market for a new bike next year I'd be giving it some serious consideration - I'm just looking forward to riding one 👍thanks for the view and comment as always

    Always great points Dazzle and you nailed the HP guess at 120+. The profile of the Challenger tank is spot on with the Scout as is the look of the PowerPlus engine with it double overhead cam design. I have heard so many people say "I wish the Scout was Bigger", or "I wish they made a Scout with the 111". I think this might be what will satisfy those people. IMO I feel liquid cooled, like it or not is the future. In order to burn cleaner (to meet emissions), you have to burn hotter and the only way to control that heat and keep it in the "Optimum" operating temperature, is it needs to be cooled by liquid. Can't rely on the fluctuating ambient air temperature. The other advantage of an overhead cam engine is it revs up much much faster than a push rod engine. Push rod engines overcome the lack of fast revving with mountains of torque which in turn pulls the bike up to speed faster with the right gearing. But as the Japanese and Italian bikes have been demonstrating for years, explosive acceleration, comes from instantaneous RPM's. Again, IMO, I think today's customers want more than just a big, lumbering 1850cc torque'r. I think they want the next generation of bagger to also be a Dragster and I think this PowerPlus engine is going to do just that. Make a big 850lb / 385kg beast FLYYYY!

      I'd still like to see a higher tuned version of this in a mad muscle cruiser!

    I've seen it quite a few times in my area being test driven and am really impressed with it. I ride a Chieftain but would love to test drive a Challenger to compare.

    my wife travel two up currently on our 2017 Roadmaster . We love it but there were times this summer the bike was really hot so, after riding this Roadmaster as far as it will go, We will upgrade to a liquid cooled American touring bike with a power windshield . There is only one bike that meets this criteria, the mythical CHallenger. I can't wait to test ride it.

    There are still a lot of people that want to tour with their significant other and pack enough stuff to stay on the road 2 weeks. Small bikes are fine. There is a need for them too but please Indian , well, everyone please keep offering big Road-going tourers that provide amenities that enhance the touring experience (gps, heated grips, seats, tpms, remote locking bags, power windshields, tunes, reverse would be nice , etc) comfort, range and storage capacity for 2 people.

    It's good that it is innovative. But frankly, building another bagger? Another expensive monster bike catering to a small, shrinking market in North America?
    They should have focused on developing a line of bikes UNDER 600cc.
    That would bring international growth and the domestic broke millennial market.

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides  4 года назад +2

      I would like to see some smaller capacity machines too.

      @@Solelova67 in most parts of the world. 999cc is huge. Scout 60 is still too big for most markets out of NA.
      (edit) look at the sales explosion of Enfield around the world. Most bikes are 500 CC or less.

    I honestly can't see Indian releasing the Powerplus motor at 108ci having the same 120hp as the 69ci FTR. To me that would be an absolute failure. The only kind of numbers imho that would make sense are 150+hp and 125+tq.

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides  4 года назад +3

      Well it would make sense if the torque was much greater. It also depends on the power and torque curves. If it is more flat and less bell shaped the that will be better for the style of bike it is 👍

      108 liquid cooled I believe. Who knows where the capacity arms race will take it in the future.
