    Посадочное место под подшипник кронциркулем. По линейке. Ещё и стружки в подшипник подсыпать... Порадовало. )))

    From the looks of the machinery the oldest person there is still younger than most of the machinery. Most looks like it came from the immediate post WWII era, if not before that.

    If you heat🔥 the gear ⚙️ it should expand enough to slide easily onto the shaft 😊

    This is interesting. Anyone here prepared to guess the diameter variation over 3 ft of length on their lather work? How worn are the ways? I have a 1970's Okuma and although I can adjust the tail stock the ways are worn so that a diameter of =/- 0.002 over 3 or 4 ft is hard to hold. I've always wanted to grind and then scrape the bed ways and saddle components or find someone in my region of eastern Canada who can. Interesting to see how these guys work so unsafely, likely under the pressure of a domineering boss.

      *over 91,44cm; =/- 0,0508mm diameter over 91,44 - 121,92cm is hard to hold

    I like the way these guys think, nothing is scrap, there is always some way to make use of it.

      Sometimes you have to. Metal fatigue is VERY dangerous and it can be deadly. Look up how wire rope came about.

    For God's sake! Put on a pair of safety shoes, because you are moving heavy things and there is Metal-Swarf all over the floor,
    and most Insurance Companies won't cover you if you won't follow their quite simple law! 😰

    Hard to believe they don't have a shop press for gear/bearing installs..dangerous work practices here with very poor housekeeping and very poor and actually no work attire safety equipment. I would bet workplace injuries happen often here. I did not see them use any micrometers here, just calipers...Looked like very poor/sloppy key fitting in keyways, poor gear bore to shaft fits..

      The H&S rep in me cringes every time I see them manhandling stuff and people are getting between the work piece and obstacles

    • @paulshouse524
      @paulshouse524 Год назад +1

      I don't mind the lack of micrometers so much, they can probably get to well within tolerance using the calipers and indicating wires. What gets me (besides workers climbing over meter-high mounds of swarf in sandals) is seeing a gear crusty with dust and sand being fed into a gearbox.
