It’s a good idea to cover your braking system with a rag or plastic bag before using ACF50. It will contaminate them. Also if you put the ACF50 can into a bucket of warm (not hot) water it will spray more finely and penetrate better.
Enjoyed this and I agree any protection is better than none. I also agree this time of year is a great time to enjoy your car especially as I have a GR Yaris which is phenomenal in the wet horrible conditions. I decided to protect it too, but went down the Lanoguard route. I removed all the arch guards and got under the car and did everywhere I could get to including in the chassis. The kit you get for the money is incredible and it works really well. You can see it beading when you pressure wash it etc.
Hi. I would take of the rear wheel arch liner out (the front one) as you can get future corrosion behind this (especially a small tab at the bottom) and on the front of the steel bracing bars. Also the cross member gets crusty on a 981 so assume it will on a 718 at somepoint. Used UC for years and it is great stuff
Great video and timely before they salt the roads. A tip, when cleaning under arches… Use Bilt Hamber’s touchless snow foam to clean down, its a sugar based surfactant but has a anti corrosion protection property first, allow to dry then use Bilt Hambers Dynax wax. Also use a bag over the discs 👍
Also Bilt Hamber do a hard wax spray spray version as well… its darker but more permanent than the clear dynax… choose your location. The hard wax is great for fasteners that hold heat shields and under trays and unseen items, the clear wax for suspension arms.
acf50 is fab....first heard about it while watching harrys garage...i used it on my slk lots but under the battery tray i wizzed off some light rust and brushed it over the area no primer just the clean as i could get steel in a way as a test too see how good it is...looked 6 month later and it was super just as i had left it...i love it......ive got built hamber too i saw on ur channel a few years ago and it looked good i think it was ur up gti...top stuff and ive bought the dynax uc and ub...great stuff.....also comma clear wax seal in the spray can is a good extra to have
I have used lanoguard for a similar purpose which goes on really easy and is meant to be safe for rubber and plastic. Do you have any experience of it?
OEM should do this as part of PDI process - surprised how untidy underneath is in terms of finish but suppose no one looks for this anymore and at least painted surfaces are well covered however lots of crevices for salt to stick too- great dyi content 🥳🎯👍👏
Admire the followers here who do this effectively. I've got my 3 year old Mk8 GTI booked in at a specialist to get the protection applied throughout later this month. Not cheap but necessary as mine is a long term keeper.
Good job done 👍 why does the manufacturer not protect from factory madness or profits. Was this not a good opportunity to clean and protect brake callipers? .

Prevention is better than Cure .Good maintenance is essential but Im in Oz so doesnt apply too heavily here

Bilt hamber have some excellent products
Dynax is the bolloks !! all bilt hamber products are excellent
Years ago someone recommended it and they were right, as you are, it’s awesome
Great video ! Thought I was the only one using anti corrosive sprays. Been happy with BoeShield, formulated by Boeing Aircraft for their landing gear.
I use Boebolts for my wheels. Formulated by Boeing to hold the doors on their 737 Max aircraft. I’ve only had three wheels fall off so far.
@@chickbells 😂
Can this be applied in engine bay (some.painted areas) say on inner wings metal and top strut areas inside engine bay?
I use a brush to apply both, more accurate and less waste n mess.

Hi so this can be used on engine bay metal say inner wings and top strut areas? To stop rust even starting
Try Bilt Hamber Atom Mac too. The underside of mine is still like new. Much easier too with a pump sprayer 👍
I got an advert for lanogaurd underseal while watching this 😮
I tried it, seems quite good but I’m never sure with corrosion protection because you don’t know if it’s actually working as it’s a slow process.
Lanoguard is good stuff ,would of done both cars with one tub ,goes on easy fine spray, there seemed to be more went on the floor
Hello yes good idea I've started doing my cars to try and keep it good as long as possible! Happy New year 👍
Recently done this to me mk7.5 gti used a whole cannon it 😬 also use bilt hamber atom Mac after every wash seems good stuff but time will tell
Ahh yes, a good old get the gloves dirty episode. 👍
Very grateful our weather in the antipodes doesn't warrant the salt business. 🙏
I use bilt hamber atom Mac.

Interesting content, well explained. Look forward to the Mk 7 Clubsport GTI video which I will use as a guide for my S3. Happy New Year.
Thanks so much👍. Yep S3, in fact all MQB will be similar
Fantastic video Andrew
Really good job done
Happy new year looking forward to 2024

Thanks Malcolm! Compared to a Golf (as you will see in next video), Porsche gets a lot more paint in the arches.
Hope you had a good Christmas and happy new year
I did the Same on my polo gti when I bought it but used lanoguard (dries clear too)

I love these video's. I'm going to do my Mk8 Golf and Corrado again this weekend :) :) :)
Nice work Andrew 👍🏻
Just quickly, what was that brand of tyre black you use/recommend 🤔
Meguiars Endurance - used it for years, nothing comes close

@@volkswizard thank you good Sir. 👍
Love these how to videos, very informative. Feel robbed the 🆙 GTI never got part 2 😂
Great video 👍
Nice video 👍
