As kids in the 1950s he an his wife came to our family's Christmas Eve dinners at Dad's Uncle Mendels home. Unkie was Edward's entertainment lawyer
I remember Edward Robinson being very friendly and smiling a lot

While not formally blacklisted, Edward G. Robinson was confronted at the time with dwindling offers in his profession. His co-star in this production, Marsha Hunt, was denounced in 1950-two years prior to this film- in the pages of Red Channels, the bible of blacklisting. This picture was one of the few she managed to appear in during that period. Thereafter she was effectively blocked from working in Hollywood. Marsha Hunt found other outlets for her artistic and intellectual energies and died in 2022 at the age of 104. Director Ben Hecht was the industry's highest paid script writer but his political stance in favor of the civil rights movement, against antisemitism, and in opposition to censorship had by 1952 rendered him suspect in the eyes of studio chiefs and guardians of public morality. Numerous other names attached to this production were regarded in rightwing circles as potentially disloyal to their rigidly narrow notion of America. The McCarthy era, we must remember, was neither the first nor the last episode of mass political censorship and punishment of dissent in the U.S. We have only to look around us today.

Excellent actor. I love him. Besides that, all acting in these old movies is great. Full of suspense. Not like the modern ones with wild car-scenes, sex, murder, violence and an exhausting tempo. So stressing, I stopped watching them.

So true they used to make great movies in Hollywood now it’s all disgusting violence & too explicit for my liking , it not necessary we are all aware what life is about but ,I believe that this is the problem with our society . Too much there isn’t any dignity left nowadays .

This was very entertaining. Ben Hecht was a great satirist. Edward G. Robinson and Marsha Hunt were terrific. Woman of Sin was very funny and the parody is spot on. The child is a tiny bit creepy. I think it's the voice. Eddie Albert was very good. Thanks for posting.

EG Robinson is great as always, but I want to see more Eddie Albert. He is BRILLIANT in this, skewering the narcissistic writers' agents and the whole scene. Oliver Douglas was terrific, but I wish he had done more films. He's so hilarious. Also, in Green Acres, he's forced to be the straight man surrounded by crazies. I prefer it when he is the funny one.

Absolutely brilliant film filmed an an era when the Hollywood stranglehold on the “studio system. “
The whole film -both parts -are hilarious spoofs and digging , no gouging name calling indirectly to of the agents, writers hypocrisy and greediness and loathsome narcissism and how they the agents writers and press crippled the star system which built these studios into behemoths . Name calling directly Samuel Goldwyn and Leland Hayward for their crookedness.
This film will go over the head of the heads of all but the Hollywood insider educated
Jokes brilliant and hilarious. I found myself laughing intensely at 3 in the morning at the jabs of Hollywood big wigs and jokes at 3 on the morning .
Extraordinary portrayal of an narcissist agent by Eddie Albert in the second part making fun of writers and their power to control or destroy a film by their infantile tantrums
The little girl Daisy is probably the daughter of Ben Hecht the producer and force behind this film ever being made of this according to the credits.
Film is wonderful on its own even without knowing the inspirational studio big shots that the characters are based on and which are mocked mercilessly in sarcasm and biting dialogue and inspirational origins of such great dialogue
First part is about the interference of helicopter parents being the downfall of otherwise good child actors such as Judy Garland.
    Big thumbs up👍👍👍👍👍
