Thank you for the information! Very nice to see people talk about Trees this way. We sometimes forget they are living creatures.

The best similar product is called Howard's Feed N Wax, and it can be purchased at Home Depot near the furniture polish. It's an orange-oil beeswax mix similar to ours.

Good analysis and concept. re pruning it looks like the cut on the right cut into white (living) tissue, and some dead wood was not cut on the left, where it is inhibiting closure. Did you "miss a spot"? It's tricky for sure.
Terpene makes sense as a sealant ingredient. Good to experiment with this stuff; some sealants are good to try.

@EmancipatedSquirrel You can certainly treat the wound in the same way. Best of luck!

hey, I come from a mediterannean climet, I have a huge pecan tree with a huge and very deep hole that is cupping water. it's not possible to drain out the water. the callus has started to form but now it has nothing to climb on to because that's where the hole begins. do you have any advice? thank you

We own two Apple trees in our back yard. One of them is a Machintosh with a similar problem. Could I treat the wound the same way? cheers

Great vid. What if the void is near ground level--yes, water runs into it. Would filling it with cement patch work to keep water from going into the tree (avocado) base?

No cement, no foam. Traps moisture in behind

@@pozzee2809 Thanks for the tip. Since I didn't know for sure, I let it be. Now, a year later, it has bounced back. Looks healthy again.

Hi Gary. I have the same problem but with an apple tree. I’ve cleaned out the wound of all decay down to good wood. Now my question is I can’t find Orange Rind Oil or Terpene Oil Bees Wax Mix anywhere. Is there a place you can recommend that I could purchase it or tell me how to make the mix?
Thank you for sharing your wonderful information!

Dont cut the cambeum layer it takes longer too heal and nore likely to get fungus grow there and other thing add foam there insted for the foam too soak up the water and if you really want to you replace the foam here and there

There is good probability that rot will stop progress when humidity is kept at bay and the Tre will seal the hole.
