In the chaotic-fear-fille-world we now live in, it was so nice to be transported to the tranquil bush through watching this, well spoken and well edited. Loved it, cheers mate
Thanks mate, exactly right, still a successful and enjoyable trip in any hunters book! For sure, its all marked down for a month or so later 👍 Glad you liked it
Another great video! Being “green” myself it’s great watching your journey. Wherever that place is I’d be torn between the rifle or the fly rod! I’m sure once I’m out there there’ll be time for both 🎣 🦌
Thanks mate. That was definitely part of the motivation for starting the channel, i had no one to teach or guide me in the right direction the first few years of starting. Just me and my stick and string in the giant mountains of Victorias public land 😅. RUclips videos were the best and most enjoyable way to learn. I love that us as sambar hunters who are such a small percentage of people in terms of the worlds hunting, can jump on RUclips and watch many videos of exactly what we love doing in the exact areas we love doing it, sambar hunting in the Victorian high country 👌 Its an awesome little community we have. And that's it mate, throw the rod in too, sambar and trout go hand in hand 👍
Deer Diary No worries! Yes we are spoiled these days, I’m 40 starting late and I’ll probably cry when I get one 😂, and there is so much content out there. I found your channel through the into the mountains video, also awesome! All the little tips and tricks everyone has and all the info you all so freely share it’s sure to cut the learning curve right down! Free time will be my only enemy 🙄
Great stuff young fella I would of taken the Fly Rod as well that looked like a good Trout stream to me Deer hunting and Trout fishing it doesn't get any better than that
Thanks Rod, You're spot on, we love our fishing but have only really done alot of salt water fishing, so we recently set up a few nice light spinner rods for trips exactly like this, and of course...forgot them at home. 🥴. I promise next time I'll flick a line mate 😄👍
Cheers Azza, yeah its great to see all that green around, been plenty of sun and plenty of rain, all our deer should be growing nice and fat and juicy 🤤 Haha i had no choice with the table, mum dad and my sister were cooking as well, its back in the shed now 😅
Awesome vid mate! You show calmness and paitents. A great virtue in a hunter. Thanks for sharing. I willl be heading up in May so there should be some hard antlers around.
@@deerdiary5696 if I can't fly to idaho for the elk season that's already booked for late August to late September then I'll definitely be planning a sambar trip. Hope the dust has settled by then
Thanks mate, ah wow haha, well thanks for that 😄, that's what's so great about being up in the bush, everyone's friendly and always keen to let you pass, a breath of fresh air from the city thats for sure.
Thanks mate. I use a garmin rino 650, it's a gps/2 way radio combo. The plb is the last resort if things go way south. Press of a button and the chopper is on its way.
Thanks mate. Sounds good mate good luck! Im certainly excitited for the cooler weather too 👍 Im using leupold 10x42 binos. Theyre no swarovski but ive been quite happy with them.
Hi Jono I'm a beginner hunter. I loved your video, it's very educational. In the video you said you'll come back when in hard antlers. Are velvet antlers soft and fall off when you shoot the stag? I've seen in my local gun shop a velvet antlers stag mounted on the wall, how is that done?
Hey mate, thanks for that, glad you enjoyed it 👍 No the antlers wont fall off, but they are very soft and can tear if the stag tumbles. Although you certainly can mount a velvet stag. Its something i havnt had any experience with, im always worried about ruining them, i would prefer to wait for them to harden up rather than risk ruining it in velvet. If you do take one in velvet and want to mount it, lots of guys have their own ways of doing it, but the most common is to inject them with a certain product that hardens the inside and preserves it from rotting. Although it does work, all the velvet ones ive seen mounted never quite look 100% normal. Good luck with the hunting mate, keep asking questions, its a great way to learn. 👍
Hi mate really enjoy your vedeo love to see more.i m not a hunter but love to go there with family is safe for camping along that river.plz reply m from Melbourne
Hey mate, thanks for the feedback, looking forward to making more films as soon as we're allowed to get back out! You dont need to be a hunter to enjoy the bush! Public land is your land, and definitely a great place to spend some time camping with the family 👍
Its in Victorian alpine national park, cant say exactly where haha but anywhere in the ANP is a beautiful place to visit, can get to alot of it in a normal car too, dont need a 4x4 to see it 👍
Haha yeah mate not often you see a lefty! I think they're called winchester silvertips or something, originally bought them as they were the cheapest thing i could find just to run the barrel in, turns out the gun loves them, very close to half moa! Couldn't get anywhere near that with the few handload recipes i tested a while back. Theyre very grenade-like though. On a larger deer i would try to avoid hitting bone 👍
