We were about 15 minutes out from port when our Capt got on to tell us he was actually turning around for someone who missed the ship! He said we were ahead of time so he was being a nice guy. Couldn’t believe it
Ahead of time suggests that they left early. Why would they leave early if not every passenger was confirmed aboard?. 15 minutes doesn't take a cruise ship too far from the pier, so unless they exceeded port speed limit in order to be ahead of time, they would have had to have left earlier than departing time.
@@Aquascape_Dreaming We departed on time. The guy was late to port. I think what the captain meant was we were "ahead" meaning it was going to take less time than expected to arrive at the next destination. Possibly due to good weather? Speed of ship? I've been on dozens of cruises and know the capt adjusts the speed, and the path of the ship due to various conditions (goes around rain, etc)I'm not a capt so don't know. All I do know is we left on time. Capt was cool about turning around to accommodate a passenger.
I was on a cruise ship in the Bahamas a few years ago and we had gotten off and ended up at this bar. As we went to pay and head back our cards kept getting declined because the bank thought it was fraud and the bar physically would not let us leave, and we had no way to contact to the cruise ship. I can't believe these people weren't running like their lives depended on it, getting left behind is so stressful
Why would they run when they had an employee with them who wasnt running? So obviously if they were in a huge hurry the employee would have ran himself but he didn't. Just because the man who recorded this said they should have ran doesn't mean he had any idea what the crew said.

We had to wait an hour and a half on our princess ship because 1 passenger on the carnival ship in front of us was late and the captain said the channel was to narrow and we couldn't go around.
I worked for an airline many yrs ago as a gate agent and announced our flight was beginning to board. Many announcements are made during the boarding process. We eventually made our final boarding call and even made an airport wide announcement for 2 passengers by name who had checked bags but never checked in at the gate. It came time for us to close the door and pull the jet bridge. At that point the plane is considered out of the gate and can not be reopened. After several minutes this young couple came strolling down the concourse without a care in the world and didn't even notice that there was nobody around. They said they were there for the flight and I told them the plane was already gone. The guy started cussing and yelling that the plane was still there and I told him airport procedures and that once the jet bridge is pulled that plane is considered gone. H started yelling that he had to get on that plane cause they were going on a cruise. I told him we made several announcements and even paged him by name but they didn't show on time so we had to close it up. He was put on another flight but I don't know if he made the cruise or not.

It was 1971-- Sydney Australia-- my friend and I were only 13 years old--- we walked across the Sydney bridge which took waylonger then we thought-- so the gangway were gone when we got back to the Canberra P&O liner...plus we had no i.d. ( next stop was N.Z.) We noticed cargo was open and we went down there but the men said ' go away and called us stowaways'...so what do 13 year olds do now? Well...we were persistent...we did not go away... and more men yelled at us to go away...we kept yelling back " No! we have to get on the ship!!!" We jumped on and ran...they caught us and removed us from ship. We explained our families were on board! This went on for quite sometime as they were loading cargo. Finally a man showed up and said ' let them on I recognize them' We wondered how things would of gone for us if that man didn't show up to help!
They suffer from “ Entitlement “. It’s disgusting that these people exist in our world. The passengers are all advised before the ship takes off. They will be left behind.
Yes I understand the captain told us when we docked at the Port he said make sure you bring your camera so you can take pictures of the boat leaving when your getting left
I’ve been on a cruise before and when they go to where they’re going, they make it a point that you have to be on time or you will be left in the country that you are in the fact these people were late shows how much they don’t care about anyone else but themselves
Myself & my wife were on a British registered plane once which was delayed for take off by 30min because of an English couple that were very late boarding..I don’t understand why they were allowed to board so late but when they came on, some people booed them. Then the air hostess asked me to move seats to accommodate the woman who was quite obese as I was on front end seat which I booked on purpose for legroom due to injured knee. My wife and I (both Irish) were told to move to two separate empty seats that were not beside each other as the couple obviously didn’t pay the extra to book their seat places. When I explained that i had paid extra to book that particular seat at the front with extra legroom on purpose because of a knee injury, the air hostess announced to the cabin that our plane was gonna be delayed further due to me being awkward for refusing to move seats!! The captain came out to me and threatened to throw us off the plane but I explained the story and said that I would not move and that I would go to the media with my copy of the boarding pass to prove discrimination. He walked away in a huff, the couple sat in the original empty seats apart but the air hostess banged the trolley against my leg or her elbow against my head every time she passed my seat during the flight!!! This video brings back bad memories!
Yea I also had an expirience with an abusive flight attendant. I was a young mom travelling alone at 23 and my daughter was 2. Wish now that I would have caused a stink because she was straight up abusive! The reason I was seeing red is because she was abusive to my 2 years old!
I hope you filed a strongly worded complaint to the airline for your treatment. What's the point of paying extra for a specific seat if they can just move to another one bc an obese person gets on and didn't see fit to pay extra for a seat that would accommodate her
I like how even when the woman starts jogging, the guy’s like “oh well she’s running, I don’t have to!” That’s a sure sign of an extremely self serving person.
Tip: if you book excursions through cruiseline and your tour is late, the ship will always wait for you. Ships will also be lenient accounting for 30 mins delay if they run numbers and have a large % of pax who disembarked at some ports. I used to work for a cruise service agency in Scandinavia. I think people don't know that many ships require local pilot boats to tow in/out of some ports. These staff can't be flexible during peak season to wait for late departures even when the cruiseline is lenient.
I remember going on a bus tour in New Zealand on the way to Milford Sound. Every single time we stopped for pictures, we were told we had about 3 minutes before we needed to get back on the bus. Never failed that there was one family that would be several minutes late. The bus driver would have to start honking and they'd start waddling back to the bus at their own pace, giving a totally clueless smile. Some people are literally unaware that the people they share the planet with are sentient.
Goodness! Yes, this happened on a bus tour my family and I went on in Iceland. We were all urged to PLEASE be back on the bus by [stated time] at each stop. If we have to wait 5 minutes at each stop [say 12 stops] for a couple people [namely members of this one party], that'd all stack up to an HOUR delay in schedule for the day. The guilty [guiltless tbh] party members always were late with food/drinks, souvenirs, and clothes bags 🙃
Random but it reminded me of a trip I took with my lab, where it was only 20 people or so and there was no set time to return to the bus at rest stops. I wish they had because even though I was only going to the bathroom, having contamination OCD (public restrooms are TOUGH) and being one of only four women, I'd always be the last one on and look like the dickhead. Sorry random story.
Same thing happened to me on the same tour to Milford sound. But it was a group of teenagers holding us up. And they made us 15 mins late to leave from Queenstown. We all woke up early for our 5am bus tour 😢
You’re mad that you get to stay on the ship longer? Wow 😭 I’ve been on 24 cruises and I would love to even stay 1 second longer, I hate having to leave the cruise
@@badbunnysnovia9176 What a weird way to twist someones words. Absolutely nowhere did OP say he is mad he "gets to stay on the ship longer" Thats not even the case. The ship will continue regardless, so youre not extending your cruise by having a passenger be late. That doesnt even make sense. And if youve been on 24 cruises, then you should know by now the importance of staying on schedule and not being selfish as if thousands of people are all there to cater to your needs. If the ship is late to leave port, they can get charged thousands of dollars per minute and that can inconvenience other incoming ships, which could be you in other circumstances. Plus, if the ship has to make up for lost time, it will have to cruise faster which burns more fuel which is less economical and is worse on the environment. And then you have the schedule of the staff that have to dock the ship. They have lives, and they have a set dinner time and a set rest time and if they have to spend extra time chasing down guests, and keeping the gangway open, that cuts into their time and doesnt get paid back to them because they will be needed later on again for more duties. And if the ship was significantly late, that could interrupt the time the ship arrives in port the next day, which could affect shoreside excursions and other scheduled trips. Often times crew members will meet family in ports as early as possible to have time to see each other, and if the ship is late for that, it will affect so many things you dont seem to consider. Theres WAY more factors involved than this false notion you have of extending your cruise time by having people be late to the ports.
The best part is after you leave port and they start announcing names over the loudspeaker, "Would Mr. and Mrs. Notime please report to the admin office" - you know Mr. and Mrs. Notime's vacation just got a whole lot more expensive. I think a lot of people think the ships won't leave, and they sure will.
A friend and I almost got left behind in Puerto Rico. We were at a club (Senior Fox???l) and lost track of time. When we realized what time it was, we removed our heels and RAN the whole way and barely made it in time! It was the first night on land and the beginning of our cruise! We found out later that if you get left behind, you not only have to pay for the trip to the next port of call but get hit with fees! Ouch!
As airline agent unless we had issue like delay or restriction we don’t wait even if it’s last flight, but if they’re Wheelchair or sick elder we try to find them form our last gate or give them 3min wait that it ( but the 3min wait is from the agent not the airlines) 80% we close the flight.
ALWAYS adjust your smart watch/phone/etc to ship time. If you set an alarm to be back onboard a couple hours early or more, you won’t miss the ship even if something unexpected happens. Plus the ships start sounding the horn to re-board about an a hour before leaving. Pay attention.
You have to be careful with the smart watches. I would just bring a regular digital or analog watch as a backup. Because I have have an international plan with T-Mobile So when I get to ports I take my phone off airplane mode. So then my smart watch and my phone will adjust to the local time. That's why it's best to just use an old fashioned watch.

@@norbitcleaverhook5040 you probably have never been on a cruise before. The employi went to get them. I hope they never do it again. When someone is this selfish , the kaptein should leave them. Why should everybody wait one one couple who dont respect all others waiting for them!?
@Uniquaization actually speaking as a former cruise line employee the ship will leave without the crew members Heck it can be a fireable offence. Crew boarding times are minimum half hour before passengers final boarding times so no excuse.
I just love seeing videos of cruise ships pulling away and people running down the pier. It reminds me of when I was in the Navy and we would be leaving Port and sailors would try to run to catch the boat. Or others going awal and just waiving by as the ship pulls away
Yup as a cruise port. We literally hear the horn bellow at several intervals before they sail. If your left in Trinidad, you will have to fly back home lol
Yes, if passengers are left behind, they might have to arrange their own flights back home. However, the cruise line can be legally held responsible for human abandonment. This means that the cruise line has to cover all related travel costs and, in most cases, provide compensation.
Lol I’ve been on a cruise where they boo the late comers. The late comers walking back casually, didn’t make it better 🥴
Back in 2002, our ship waited 40 mins for late passengers. It was at Calica, Mexico, and a lot of people took one of the sponsored tours. The Captain said that we we're going to turn and burn through the night. He got us back on schedule and said , next stop do not be late.
They only wait for excursions that are booked through the cruise line. If you leave the boat on your own and don’t make it back, that on you. They are in a schedule and in most seaports there is a fine for holding up traffic. They pay the fine for their ( excursions from the cruise line) mistakes, not yours.
If it's a cruise ship sponsored "excursion", the passengers can't be held responsible for being late if it's the fault of the excursion. If possible, always take a cruise line sponsored tour/excursion.

@@badbunnysnovia9176 lol i dont even use ship
@@badbunnysnovia9176 What a weird way to twist someones words. Absolutely nowhere did OP say he is mad he "gets to stay on the ship longer"
Thats not even the case.

They eventually die of starvation. Nature is cruel and beautiful sometimes.
Probably have to pay a lot of money to get off the island ... and they probably still didnt learn their lesson and blamed the crew
They fly to the next destination and wait for the ship..
@@user-ellievator funniest comment I've read all day lmfao
They fly to next port. Not cheap.
I used to work on a cruise ship. And at every port there was alway a few people left behind. The ship only waits if your shore excursion contracted through the cruise company is running late.
What happens if you miss your boat? SOL / marooned? Lol
You know damn well the ship was waiting for the employee
The employi went to get them.
I hope they never do it again. When someone is this selfish , the kaptein should leave them. Why should everybody wait one one couple who dont respect all others waiting for them!?
Exactly. The ship wasn't leaving without the employee, duh
@Uniquaization actually speaking as a former cruise line employee the ship will leave without the crew members Heck it can be a fireable offence. Crew boarding times are minimum half hour before passengers final boarding times so no excuse.
Nope wrong
You didn’t excel in comprehension in school either did you? The video plainly stated that the employee was sent to get the wayward couple.
This means that the cruise line has to cover all related travel costs and, in most cases, provide compensation.
you don't wanna be behaving like that when the entire cruise ship is looking at you
Why would you look at them while on vacation? I wouldnt give a fuck about them at all.
frfr. They took everyone's damn time sashaying down the pier.
Everyone is leaning out of their windows and balconies like 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀 okay we know who we gotta throw overboard in the middle of the ocean tonight.
Lol I’ve been on a cruise where they boo the late comers. I also learned, there’s casino goers who will go harder if you’re late 😂 they can’t gamble until we are a certain amount of miles from shore 🤣 they were PISSED and it was hilarious.
Are you sure it was Calica ?!?
@@g.fredsimmons759 Not exactly, if the excursion bus/transport leave you on the way back.
If it's a cruise ship sponsored "excursion", the passengers can't be held responsible for being late if it's the fault of the excursion. If possible, always take a cruise line sponsored tour/excursion.
@@chrissierodrigues9302 😂😂😂
listed several instances of her being late and you’re like : ok ok y’all don’t believe me .. she was later for her own damn wedding 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
She going to be the type to forget her children at Walmart , forget to put the gas cap back on, her kids going to be late to school everyday 😂😂😂
sometimes if an excursion booked through the cruise starts late or happens to be delayed in returning for some reason the cruise ship has to wait. That's probably why there was an employee with them.
But to not run when you clearly see the ship packing gangplank back onto the ship?... No.
They should always be left. It's how you learn.
I work in cruise ship bands, and one time between Istanbul Turkey and Italy, one of our guest entertainers was late to the ship and he had to fly himself to the next port and get a hotel at his own expense, but he made it and we still performed his show and it became a big joke.
But short of being wealthy and having your credit card on you when you separate from the ship, that could be a very dangerous situation being stuck in a country where its harder to find many English speakers.
@@DrummerJacob don’t go on vacation if you can’t afford an emergency like getting stranded.
@@micaheiber1419 80% of people are broke from traffic injuries? Where the hell do you even pull a number like that? 😂
If i knew I'm going to be late (not yet but going to) i'd start running at every opportunity.
This reminded me of my honeymoon cruise back in 2000, my wife and I were joining others on the ship when some folks were just getting back from Carlos and Charlie's in Cozumel. The ship was ready to go, and everyone was yelling "make them run for it!". They ran, drunk, and still almost missed the ship! 😂
i was on Carnival Victory in December 2000 in Cozumel..I just had to comment that. it was my only sea cruise.
it was you wasn't it?
@@dooshkin8552 no, right year, wrong month! Plus, it was her first cruise, so it was the 4 day out of Miami to Key West and Cozumel. It was Carnival, though...not Fantasy, but it was Fantasy class.
It was February of 2000
@@dooshkin8552 lol.. no I made sure to stay on ship schedule
The casual walking took me clean OUT!!
They're the people that make me late for work cuz the bus driver waits for them while they casually walk to the bus stop.
Entitled travelers. The music in the background was perfect 😅
Every retail and service industry has these people! If I got a dollar for everyone who either showed up late or after we closed….
I can confirm lol
And this why i don't cruise. I rather fly into an island. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Keep your cruise.
But they are special! Everything can wait on them!
I already hate those assholes. The world can just wait on them
Nobody is waiting. Everyone is on board doing their thing. Havin fun, getting a massage, in the pool or eating yet another ice cream cone.
Because they're black! Nothing unusual
@@gingersutton8240 and not leaving on time, so yes they are waiting on them snowflake
I find it satisfying when cruises leave late comers behind. These two could've made me happier 😢
How could they make you happier? Were you on this cruise?
Cruise ships I went on in the 80s always departed on time!
Back in my day... blah blah blah. Two words... covid nineteen. People don't give two shits boutcho time frame. 😅
@@Juneebug18 who hurt you you dumb little girl don't take your dad shove his weiner up your butt out on everybody else grifter
Don’t run, walk. It’s all about you.
I've never been on a cruise but if they give me a specific time for departure on an island in the middle of nowhere imma get back at least 30 minutes early 🙋♂️
Right? You never know what hold up can happen that turns that 30min lead time into 5min! Some people don't have a clue or don't care. This behavior costs cruises a lot of money in dockage fees which means it actually costs customers.
They don't even run they hold up the whole ship they think they are privileged. I wouldn't have let them on the ship Ida said it's too late go back and buy a watch
As mentioned above, they might not have had to hurry or not the only ones late. Than again, they might be jerks. If I'm on board enjoying myself, I don't care😊
Entitlement energy.. 😂
@@gingersutton8240 Nah. I go and wait to film the latecomers rather than enjoy myself because issues between the Cruise ships management and people that have nothing to do with me are most definitely something I need to be involved in.
It’s unfair to the other passengers and the staff. Should have not let them board.
But they defended homosexual special rights. Doesn't that help them ?
Some people really don’t care…..leave them! 😂
I work on cruise ships as a musician, and we go out in ports and get so drunk, Ive gotten the worst shin splints running back to ships all over the world.
Ive never once missed a ship or even been late, but one time in Corfu Greece I was about to be late, and luckily the manager of the local hotel I passed by gave me a ride to the ship in his personal car because we couldnt find any taxis.
Very hospitable place! But yeah, in all cases I run back to the ship and give a 30 minute window of time for unexpected situations because it doesnt matter who you are, the ship will leave without the captain!
Ive also almost been late to the ship in Spanish speaking countries in South America due to not being able to communicate super well with the taxi drivers and only being able to tell them left or right, but not anything more than Ship or Port. LOL
Good times.
