This idea seems to be quite clever. The thing is that pictures can come out as really great depending upon the lenses that were used. I would tweak one thing and will make the glass that protects the sensor removable or slideable and then attach different lenses to get the results I want without the additional glass layer in-between. The end result will be pictures taken by a mid-level DSLR type setup with the additional post-processing done by Xiaomi + Leica. However, for videos it will depend on how well the thermals are gonna be managed.
This reminds me of the Moto Z series phones, which had these various compatible magnetic attachments called Moto Mods, and one of them was a camera. Looked very cool, very well ahead of its time

Xiaomi is known to come up with new concepts time to time but a Mirrorless Cam has its own advantages. So I think its possibility to replace a MC is quite gloomy.
DSLR cameras can never be replaced. Not at the moment. The quality and capabilities of a DSLR cannot be matched with the hardware that a phone uses. As a concept, this is pretty interesting. But as far as replacing a full size camer is impossible.
Ek reality ki baat hai jaha pe hum 50K ek DSLR pe lagate hai toh toh company sirf DSLR pe Focus and kharch karti hai without any compromise. But jab phone ko DSLR banaya jaye toh pehle wo smartphone banane pe kharch karenge fir dslr ki chizen daalne pe jisme bohot compromises hogi. Fir baaki ka kaam algorithm karega. Toh ye concept wagera concept main theek hai ki lekin practical nahi hai.
It might work in India because now people are a bit interested in photography it can replace point shoot as well. I would like to experiment with phone photography first and then move towards a big camera. See it might work it might fail India because it is not an enthusiastic market so people won't give it try for that reason. For miui 60 to 70 k I would rather go for iOS or rather clean UI
Bro i took the risk and bought the mi 11 ultra and i loved it It takes very good photos I admit When I got it I was wowed still now the performance hasn't decreased works as new But I felt the second screen is pretty much use less and only got a minor update of an animated butterfly🦋
Good to see that Xiaomi is doing such innovation. But the additional cost of lenses will be not affordable to common buyers. It will be better if they focus n invest in GOOD stable SOFTWARE UPDATE.
