I am Russian and I'm so happy you tried some of our treats! Some of my favorite treats from Russia are Dadu, they make delicious ice cream cones and these cheesecake bars with chocolate on the outside. 😻😻😻 I'm glad you enjoyed our food!
Thanks for the video. About the "biscuit" question. We have a single word in Russian to describe any kind of cokies - "pechenie". It's originate from the russian word for bake - "pech". Also we have the word "biscuit" wich came from French, we use it to describe sponge cake.
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but apparently if you download google translate on you phone, you can scan over the foreign packages to read them.
Russia has amazing little chocolates that are wrapped in awesome paper with a lot of different images on them... you know with waffles, caramel, nuts and a lot more...😍 a friend of mine always got some from her grandma in russia and everyone was addicted to them. Your challenge reminded me so much of it ! Thanks for that 😊
hi kate and alex the white on the chocolate is a harmless change, known as a fat bloom, is caused by liquid fat such as cocoa butter migrating through the chocolate and crystalizing on the candy's surface. love watching you try diffrent foods from around the world x
Russian marshmallow is meant to be somewhere between marshmallow and snowball in terms of toughness if compared to the UK sweets I had, lighter if it's chocolate-coated like one you had, tougher if it's just marshmallow. Seashell pattern on top is also traditional.
Smell is a large part of taste. I get that some cultures view it as rude but they are at home and its their channel so there really isn't any issue here.
yes we do call them cookies but those who go to British schools or learn British English call them biscuits! that's what I used to call them until I met all the Americans in my life hahah. as for chewy part that's cooked condensed milk, there is a way Russians cook the white condensed milk into this chewy brown. it can be used in waffles and cakes.
Hi I’m from South Africa and they are called Lays but instead of calling them Crisps we call them Chips 😂 I love watching your guys videos make me smile every time ❤️.
I'm russian and i actaully know some really good russian snacks. They were from my childhood. Some of things you're trying I've had. Hope you enjoyed them. There's actaully a russian store here in San Francisco where i live that have some pretty good stuff. Like one of the girls who commented she's from Russia is right about the Dadu. The ice cream is really good. Honestly i prefer that over American ice cream. We also have some really tasty pastries and food that you guys you should try one day. If you guys ever come to sf you should try some russian places. Have a wonderful day
the marshmallow is exactly how its supposed to be. its different consistency from the usual marshmallows. I actually didnt know you could compare the normal marshmallow to it until this video but now it kind of makes sense haha
I love your trying candy videos! Could you do a video of you opening your own subscription box and trying the candy? I would love to see what is inside and what your opinions on the candies inside are!
Thank you Marissa! We have done a video of us doing that when we first announced it but we have actually said how we should do one again! So hopefully we can do one soon for you 😀
InTheKitchenWithKate Wow I guess I missed that video! I am so excited to watch that now! I think other than that I have watched all of your trying candy videos haha! 😂 Thank you for taking the time to reply - so sweet!
Chips/Crisp settle after being packaged, is the reason why they appear to only be half full. If you get a bag fresh off the line it will be 3/4th, or more full, but after a few bumpy rides, and what not they all settle to the bottom.
The thing with the chips is settling during shipping. They are packaged full then sealed but apparently they dont do any sort of "shaking" to presettle and really fill the bag. It also allows for an "air cushion" so they dont get to you all completely smashed. Totally love your channel. I'm from America, and find your accent so so fun and almost soothing! So proper compared to Americans and I love it!
I miss living in London because so many foreign owned shops sell Lays. Lays Max Oriental Salsa flavour are one of the BEST flavoured crisps ever made. I used to get them from the off license near Prince Regent DLR. Chocolate coated zefire are great but they don't really showcase the true characteristics of zefire. They are a different beast to marshmallows and leaving toward the meringue or macaron side. Sightly chalky on the outside, foamy even. I'm crazy for them.
On the northwest box from Seattle, applets and cotlets are specific to only the northwest and are made in cashmere Washington. Tim's chips and mountain bars are also northwest brands. We have great seafood here and salmon is popular.
You should try halva, chokolates "Bird milk", wafer cake, russian jelly candy (i know you like it) :-) Plums in chocolate is actually my favorite russian candy! And you can probably buy mushroom flavored chips in Russian stores in the UK. We r waiting part 2 ;-)
Guys... caramel is cooked condensed milk, so... In Russian, "Biscuit" comes from the sponge cake that's known as bisquit in France (sponge cake to us.)
Hi Cassandra! After Eight mints are, from what I came to know from growing up with them in my home, delicate, thin, mints encased in Dark chocolate where the mint is a creamy liquid, and are placed in these dainty individual serving envelopes presented in a very nice box with a nice design. They are what we call "After Dinner" mints. In my family, we only had them with special dinners during the holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, usually served with dessert, and a good cup of tea or coffee. Andes mints, and Junior Mints were a part of my family also, and they are very good as well.
Yeah... most gelatin is still made of animal bone being cooked out. There is vegetarian gelatin, mostly made from seaweed, and it's becoming more and more common, but still expensive.
Half bag of crisps/chips is due to the bag being filled with nitrogen gas (to extend shelf life). People of different countries have different taste preferences. Lays is not the only company to do this. McDonald's does it. Their Chinese menus are quite different from their American versions.
The chips, because of their shape, settle to the bottom and lay against each other as they are moved around. I have also compared the menus from McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken (aka KFC) around the world and the one is the US would be so great if we had some things from Australia, China, Mexico and the UK added to it. Muffins, they don't have those at our McDonald's. I would absolutely love to try the, pineapple coconut bread from Australia. We don't even have a vegetarian menu. In Mexico they have the Chizza at KFC, it is chicken strips with pizza sauce, pepperoni and mozzarella cheese on it, sounds interesting.
I love watching y’all try all of this candy and treats from all these different places! Y’all are amazing I love watching all your videos! I love you guys so much!😁
I have been loving these videos. I only recently happened upon your channel but it is rapidly becoming my favorite food channel. I love eating while watching and I always get some laughs in too. Subscribing after this comment gets posted. Keep the candy tasting coming.
What do you call an American biscuit? We have biscuits with breakfast and sometimes other meals. Some savory like with gravy and some sweet like served with honey butter or jam

the teddy bear thing we get cookies called teddy grahams and recently they have made a soft cake like snack with a filling just like that one that you ate. only ours are chocolate and vanilla
Have you tried Mallomars yet, from America? They are similar to the marshmallow/chocolate thing from this box, but with a cookie on the bottom and no fruit. They're really good!

Американцы просто выплёвывают. Там не едят наш хавчик. А вот в Лондоне и Германии нормальный поток в ресторанах - люди довольны.

You don't need to necessarily go to Russia just find a polish or a European shop in the UK and you'll likely find some of these Russian products.

Are you two vegetarian? Do you know what gelatin (marshmallow, for example) is made from?
Andrea Blum pretty positive it's animal bone or animal bone marrow or something like that. Lol
I was wondering if they were aware of this as well.
Yeah... most gelatin is still made of animal bone being cooked out. There is vegetarian gelatin, mostly made from seaweed, and it's becoming more and more common, but still expensive.
I was thinking the same thing!
And not just marshmallows a lot of chewy gummy candy has gelatine in it as well.

What do you call an American biscuit? We have biscuits with breakfast and sometimes other meals. Some savory like with gravy and some sweet like served with honey butter or jam
We call them biscuits too. And they're quite common in breakfasts.
A tasting of chips sounds amazing. I eat chips 1 at a time. I have never had Cadbury chocolate, what would you suggest I try.

Thanks for the advice. I will let you know how my tasting adventure advances.
the teddy bear thing we get cookies called teddy grahams and recently they have made a soft cake like snack with a filling just like that one that you ate. only ours are chocolate and vanilla
Ah no way!!! I think I've actually tried a teddy graham!
Have you tried Mallomars yet, from America? They are similar to the marshmallow/chocolate thing from this box, but with a cookie on the bottom and no fruit. They're really good!

A chip at a time and I love the big ones and the folded ones. Lol!
Me too! It's a thing in our family. And yes, they have a great amount of crunch and hold on to dip better too. 💕
Lays are called Lays in South Africa
Yessss do a video on only crisps!!
In South Africa its still called lays
wow lots of snacks.
I am obsessed with your videos but everytime the camera beeps when Alex takes a picture, my dog freaks out. On que, evvvvverytime.
It is surprising to me how many Americans despise mushrooms. Lays is really good at test tasting flavors. Doritos had a cracked pepper flavor which I loved but could never find anyone else who liked them. I used to joke that the month I started my diet Doritos yanked that flavor off the shelf for lack of sales.
I like how you start with savory.
Have you heard of universal Yums? It’s a subscription box each month is a different country with snacks and candy.
we get the bear sponge teddy things here in america too
Oh I am from Russia, Moscow!!!!! Love you so much :*
❤️❤️
Generic chocolate is called Seasonal Chocolate in our house as it only appears at Easter and Christmas :)
Strawberries dipped in chocolate are amazing
You need to try some American Classics from the 90s even though you've tried alot of American snacks
That would be amazing!
Alyonka is very traditional.
I am going to california in the summer any food that I should try on my channel? Xx
The chocolate blackberry marshmallow thing reminds me of Russel Stover's eggs that come out around Easter in America. Also, I saw you pass on the one bag because of meat products (I believe), but do you not worry about the gelatin that's in marshmallows?
Hi kate I already know todays video is going to be great love ur videos
Thank you so much 😃
Hi guys! Its called Lays in South Africa :) Love them!
Hersha' is my middle name....I die laughing everytime you say it😂😂😂😂

We recently returned from our trip and sending you guys a box soon to try!!! Excited to share some of the snacks that I grew up with in Hawaii with you guys =)
Can you try famous chocolate or crisps brands from many countries ?
That a good idea! And try them all together do you mean?
InTheKitchenWithKate I meant that you could try either. I'm kinda stuck on which one to say haha. Love you❤
I like that the russian food products have very high quaility
@inthekitchenwithkate do you prefer sweet or savory better?
This makes me so happy watching you try things that came from my country proud russian right here 😊🤗
More candy tasting! Woop!

We also get those teddy cakes in the US. In chocolate ..yummy
You should try all the different types of chips(crisps) from the USA
You should try WhatChaMaCallit Candy Bar, Caramelo and my favorite MilkyWay Midnight Dark.
I just got caught up on all your trying videos! Haha! Watching, I realize I haven’t had a chocolate bar in a while... off to a convenience store to get some!
I agree that a crisp/chip video would be funn! Maybe ask around for a while to see what everyone’s favorite flavors are?

I’m curious and would like to know the difference between a biscuit and a cookie? Here in Sweden we never use the word biscuit for translations into english.
For us here in the UK a cookie is like a chocolate chip cookie or anything like that, a round flat baked dough usually soft with chips in. We then call things like oreos a biscuit where as in the US and other parts of the world people would call that a cookie! Hope that makes sense
Lays in South Africa stays lays. The bags just look slightly different
oh cool!
What are the flavors?
The mashroom favtire lays are unik.
I always like before watching
Ahh thank you so much!!! Thank you for your support!
Hey love you guys
Christie's & Nabisco are the same company too. Christie's I see up in Canada, and Nabisco in the US.
Oh no way! Thank you for letting us know ☺️
