Someday Soon - Suzy Bogguss (with Lyrics)

- There's a young man that I know whose age is twenty-one
Comes from down in southern Colorado
Just out of the service, he's lookin' for his fun
Someday soon, goin' with him someday soon
My parents can not stand him 'cause he rides the rodeo
My father says that he will leave me cryin'
I would follow him right down the roughest road I know
Someday soon, goin' with him someday soon
But when he comes to call, my pa ain't got a good word to say
Guess it's 'cause he's just as wild in his younger days
So blow you old Blue Norther, blow my love to me
He's ridin' in tonight from California
He loves his damned old rodeo as much as he loves me
Someday soon, goin' with him someday soon
When he comes to call, my pa ain't got a word to say
Guess it's 'cause he's just as wild in his younger days
So blow you old Blue Norther, blow my love to me
He's ridin' in tonight from California
He loves his damned old rodeo as much as he loves me
Someday soon, goin' with him someday soon
Someday soon, goin' with him someday soon
One of the finest singing voices ever. I have no idea, honestly, how she can sing like this. But thank God she can. What a special gift to us. Thank you Suzy.
Hi there, I am from the UK and truly adore this song. Emblematic of a period in time when America was great!
This is what good songs are, no matter if you call them country or folk or whatever, they’re just plain good, I wish the record industry would not settle for the low quality songs they’re putting out today and give a younger audience a chance to acquire a taste for good songs like they did when I was a kid in the music revolution.
There is definitely SOME talent and promise in mainstream country today. I mean, it's a helluva lot better than it was 5-10 years ago. Zach Bryan, Chayce Beckham, Warren Zeiders and Bailey Zimmerman stand out the most (in the mainstream scene).

I love this! Suzy Bogguss has a wonderful voice but it isn't just that. There are nuances in timing, dynamic changes while holding notes, connections of tones, ways that vowels and consonants are sounded, all making her version so expressive. Yet nothing sounds affected or over-planned. Maybe it comes naturally, but in any case insightful thought and sincere feeling are huge aspects too. I'm Canadian and we sang Ian Tyson's Four Strong Winds at summer camp in the 1960's. I think his Someday Soon comes from that decade too and was recorded first by Ian and Sylvia. This is by far the best version, still.
Thank you for your kind words, Debra Delaware, about Suzy Boggess. Met her at the State office building, where I worked for five years for the State of Arizona. She was with a good friend of hers, the late Linda Ronstadt, who was a native of Tucson, and also a well known recording star. Suzy was celebrating her number one C& W Hit, called Someday Soon, and the year was 1991. She was a beautiful lady with a beautiful singing voice. Thanks, William
William Cooke Linda Ronstadt is still alive.
@@jasonseaton466 Yes. my sources in Tucson, Az. have advised me that her Doctors misdiagnosed her condition as Parkinson's Disease and that she is fully retired from singing, but is still living. Sorry, for the mis- information. William
Suzy Boguss is an amazing girl with an amazingly beautiful voice
A great song and sung by a beautiful gal....
I think Jewel is the best
@@suzzybogguss5327 that’s fine by me 💜
I'm a 63 year old Canadian boy, and I am heartbroken to recently discover that the composer of this song, Ian Tyson has just passed away. I've loved this mans' music for over 50 years now. I was working in radio when Ian had an incredible period of rejuvenation in the 80s and 90s with his Cowboyography series of albums and more. Now that man, ladies and gentlemen, was true Canadian Cowboy Rancher!!! He painted pictures with his words, WOW what a storyteller. I'll miss you my friend!!
Beautiful melody
🌹
In my opinion the best rendition of "Someday Soon" Thanks Ian Tyson
One of Ian Tyson's BEST songs! Beautifully done, Suzy!
Ian and Sylvia Tyson...
Should have waited for Suzy Bogguss, it's Suzy's song (my Book)
Suzy is as beautiful as her voice ♥️♥️, timeless song
Heard this first time @ 17 years old in 1991, driving to a rodeo in Murray KY. Met Mt Gf that night and her daddy Said the same thing. Married in 94 and here we are 28 years later.
Thank you !!!
Just out of the blue & after MANY years of not hearing this Song I began singing it. It's ONE of those tunes you NEVER forget & SUZY delivers it seamlessly 💗
Happened to me too yesterday. Thought at first it was sung by Emmy Lou then came to find out it was/is Suzy...
This is a beautiful marriage of music and lyrics. You know when it is a good one when it hits your soul, chokes you up, brings up memories, or gives you chills.
Met this beautiful lady while working in Tucson, Az. She has a wonderful voice. Smiles
A very nice rendition ... A fantastic voice !!
Suzy is such an under-rated singer. She has a beautiful voice, which I have loved for many years.
Pretty Sog and voice
Elaine R .
The very best such a clear voice
And very pretty.
Great voice.
Beautifully spoken
I have loved this song forever. What a wonderful performance !
Song was 100% written for her. Brilliantly done!
Suzy Bogguss's version of this song is just gorgeous, exhilarating. Her voice, the instrumentation, her musicality--and the musicians backing her do a fantastic job too. LOVE this.
What a great voice
This is definitely Suzy’s song. Without question ❤️
My aunt used to listen to Judy Collins version of this in the early 70s. That is well done but Suzy does it best IMO.
g26s239 Judy Collins forever.
Meh, I think you’re crazy. Judy was good but this is perfection
Jason Taylor. Agreed
Even Crystal Gayle"s cover is second best.
I agree. Just listened to both. Saved this one to my playlist. Her voice is clear and strong.
I heard her on the radio while driving. It took me a few years to track her down. Arguably one of the best female voices ever. Can't hear this song enough.
From the first time I heard this song around 40yrs ago, it still kind of chokes me up. Thank you Suzy.
Thanks for supporting my music 🎶 I’m so grateful 🥰 and I hope you never stop being a fan, I would like to honor you by giving you my personal information if that’s ok by you.💜
Me too!!!
@@suzzybogguss5327 great singer and HOT!!!!!!
Not Bad-This song came out shortly before the death of country music. I still listen to traditional country music on Willie's Roadhouse, ch. 59.
My sister, who passed away in September 2021, and I both enjoyed listening to your version of this great song. Thanks so much for recording it in your lovely voice.
Beautiful lady who does this divinely.
Thanks for supporting my music 🎶 I’m so grateful 🥰 and I hope you never stop being a fan, I would like to honor you by giving you my personal information if that’s ok by you.💜
Definitely the best version of this sweet soul song and Suzy just brings the deep emotions right out front. Although underappreciated as a singer it doesn't dim her brilliance!
One of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard.
I agree! and she is very beautiful!
@@suzzybogguss5327 Sure.
Beautiful voice to match A beautiful face. Outstanding!
Great job. I haven't heard this in a long time. Still enjoy hearing this version. I've heard Judy sing this and I've heard Moe sing it. Suzy does it best in my opinion.
Thanks for supporting my music 🎶 I’m so grateful 🥰 and I hope you never stop being a fan, I would like to honor you by giving you my personal information if that’s ok by you.💜❤️❤️
I think this is the best version of Someday Soon; even better than Judy Collins's version. Suzy Boguss is an underrated singer!
Yes she is..
actually written by Canadian Ian Tyson and sang by him and by far the very best version take off your blinders
Bob Canter
I will agree with you I think this is
a very good version !!!
I love Suzy Bogguss, but no one sings this song like Judy Collins. While Ian Tyson might be a great songwriter, he's not much of a singer.
I don't think she's that underrated, maybe i'm wrong. She definitely has LOADS and LOADS more talent than overrated Reba!!
I listen to this song every night as if it were a song of angels.🧚♀️
Beautiful song Beautiful woman
One of my all time favorite songs and if you think that Suzy Bogguss doesn't have one of the most pure Country voices of all time then please go have your hearing checked. it sounds as good today as it did 40 years ago, I always heard that quality never goes out of style.
Heard this on Sirius, had forgotten about it, brings back great memories
Pack your grip gal, were going to Amarillo in the morning.
That is one of the finest voices you’ll ever have the pleasure to hear.
Sweet Suzy, boy oh boy one special lady.
I was one of them fools many years ago. This song brings back good times and heart aches. Where she's at, I don't know. We grew up I guess.
That's a bummer man.
I was so lucky .Broke up with my beautiful teen girl , then realised what a fool I was so got her back before I lost her for good, and married in 64 .She is still beautiful and still with me.
Classic Country at it's Best
Thanks for the Memories
Just dropped in from the Judy Collins version. Recommended by Meade Music & after listening I've got to agree, I much prefer the Suzy Boguss version. It's sweeter! Now I've got to search out for more Suzy Boguss songs.
Chet Atkins said Suzy had the most accurate vibrato that he ever heard. Chet knows his business. Listen to her vibrato carefully. Then listen to her version of the Eagles classic "Take it to the Limit" from the Common Thread album. You can't get it on RUclips because it has been blocked by some asshole, so you'll have to have the Common Thread CD or download the tune from Amazon. Only Suzy and Randy Meisner can sing that song and do it justice.
Thanks I'm looking forward to it.
Check out the original Ian and Sylvia 1964
She is lovely with many good hits.. :-]

@@suzzybogguss5327 Yes indeed that would be great.
So right, she certainly is a beauty and can sing perfectly too!
Very few women have a voice so pure, clear, and beautiful
She is so beautiful and her voice is so clear and beautiful
Can’t leave out Linda Ronstadt.
tuneaddicted Colorado- I can name only one, Judy Collins,
Emmy Lou
Indeed!
It gives me chills it's so good. Only Judy Collins' version surpasses this. But not by much. Also, the original recording by Ian and Sylvia is great.
How can you not sing along with this song?

RIP Ian Tyson and thanks so much for writing such a great song !
And thank you Suzy for singing it the absolute best!
My God I finally found this song. Thank-you so much for posting this on RUclips. You made my week. I heard this song many, many years ago when I was very young and never could find it. I just remembered part of the lyrics and Googled them and now here I am, listening to this beautiful song. Thanks again.
The internet is wonderful, isn't it??? :-)
Heard this in the late seventies
and it was very good and I still
like it very much !
@@billmcgee7 recorded in 1964 by canadian singer Ian Tyson
It took me years to find it too after hearing it for the first time !
Hey, when Susie does this song, it is so beautiful, it makes you want to put on your cowboy 👢 👢 and buy a new saddle and call up your best horse, and hit out in the open country !!!!!
A real romantic love song a good song you love listening 🎧 to.

Yes indeed, I concur. Suzy is the best on this song...
Love this song.
Around 93-95. These were the last days of "real country" music. Shortly after. Country radio turned to bubble gum pop
You can thank idiot's like Garth Brooks for the "ACIDIC" (Rockabilly)🤯
I'd say 2002 was the epilogue of good country music. It wasn't long after that year that I stopped listening to it.
Once Tim McGraw and several others during that timeframe hit mainstream, Country began disappearing.
We have mostly"Pop Country" in today's music..
Todays Country Music is just a bunch of Fucking Hillbillys trying to be Rock Stars
I remember listening to this music sitting around deer hunting camp fires in the Rockies missing my girl and drinking
Dictionary definition of perfection. The song. The voice. The arrangement. Perfection.
I agree . I heard Crystal Gayle sing it but Suzy Bogguss is the best
Such a pretty voice !!
Beautiful. Just beautiful.

She also looks real good singing it
Does any of you know that this song was written by a Canadian cowboy Ian Tyson?
So beautiful song lyrics and music just floating together. I wish, I will play my guitar like this someday soon.

I was very familiar with the Judy Collins version (still have a 45 of it) but never heard this until 1993 when my (ex-) wife and I went to a bar-restaurant for dinner in Jemez Springs, New Mexico, and somebody played it on the jukebox. This one is great too!
Wonderful song beautifully performed!
Jesus Christ just beautiful
Suzy Bogguss. Love this lady singing. What a sexy voice.
I haven't heard this song in years, but this morning, for some reason, I woke up with it playing in my head, so I looked it up online. Thanks for posting. Good memories of the early 90s, going country dancing and listening to the local country station 24/7.
