The public voted for another contestant (Jann) but Blanka won anyway, even though her performance in the national selections was absolutely terrible. It was mostly based on the ideology (because Jann was "inacceptable" from the perspective of (then) conservative government) and familial connections (Blanka was a "friend" of the son of one of the Jury members). So she absolutely does deserve the hate, because she was just a tool in the hands of the corrupt tv.
